The well-prepared, abundantly funded Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025’s implementation overwhelms all that has come before. The ill-prepared, leaderless Democrats and opposition are stymied to stop it. No March on Washington like the 1963 March for civil and political rights or the 1967 March against the Vietnam War will slow down the Trump steamroll. Neither the high price of eggs nor Wall Street jitters have had any effect. What to do? Could courts be the deciding factor to halt the United States slide towards fascism? Rules are essential to any organized society.

Trump Begins Process Of Dismantling Department Of Education

On March 20, US President Trump signed an executive order to begin the process of dismantling the Department of Education. The order aims to move education funding from the federal government to the states, and coincides with the plan outlined in Project 2025 by the right-wing think tank the Heritage Foundation, which set eliminating the DOE as a goal. The DOE, which, among other objectives, plays a key role in providing funding for impoverished and low income students, students with disabilities, and other underserved students, has been a target of conservatives in the US for decades.

I Resigned 22 Years Ago From The Government Over The Bush War On Iraq

22 years ago, on March 19, 2003, I resigned from the US Department of State. I was the Deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia and the third U.S. government employee to resign in opposition to the U.S. war on Iraq.  I resigned on the day the Bush administration began the 10-year U.S. war on Iraq, March 19, 2003.  President Bush, like the presidents before and after him, lied. His specific lie was about the reason for the U.S. to attack and kill hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.  In 2003, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Powell’s lie was about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction when international weapons inspectors were very clear in their statements that after their exhaustive investigation there were no weapons of mass destruction.

More than 100 people gathered on the stairs outside the West Virginia Capitol on Wednesday with protest signs and chants to speak out against recent actions from both state and federal Republican officials. The protesters decried policies from Project 2025, a right-wing set of ideals published by the conservative Heritage Foundation as a wish-list for Donald Trump’s presidency that are now starting to be realized through federal executive orders and actions. Protesters also shared concerns with Elon Musk’s new role in the federal government and lamented state-level movements that reflect those happening on the national level.

The recent federal funding freeze spurred immediate finger-pointing inside the Trump administration, with anonymous sources telling major news outlets that attorney Mark Paoletta was responsible for drafting the infamous memo that briefly paused trillions in federal funds. Paoletta, newly returned as the White House Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) general counsel, is connected to a wide range of powerful figures on the right, including multiple conservative Supreme Court justices, the organizers of Project 2025, and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“Dangerous, diabolical, and dastardly” is how Hakeem Jeffries, the House Democratic Leader, just described the so-called “Project 2025” planning document that all liberals have now been commanded to light their hair on fire about and run around in circles screeching how it portends some imminent apocalyptic MAGA takeover. First off, it’s the least surprising thing in the world that the preeminent DC think tank of the “Conservative Movement” would merge itself to the maximum extent possible with the branding and sensibility of Donald Trump, the current undisputed ruler of the “Conservative Movement,” such as it exists.

The right wing counter-revolution has been going on for more than 50 years. The Powell Memo was a 1971 directive from soon-to-be Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell, instructing the US Chamber of Commerce how to defeat the “attack on the American free enterprise system". In other words, how to defeat any leftist or even leftish policies. The Contract with America outlined Newt Gingrich’s plan for republican control of congress. These are just two examples of conservative narratives that periodically receive public attention. They are declarations of how the right wing have been working to counter the gains of the New Deal and the Black liberation movement that resulted in benefits to everyone in the U.S.
