‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 166: Israel Kills Officials Handling Food

Israeli forces bombed a gathering point of dozens of Palestinians near the Kuwait roundabout in Gaza City, killing at least 23 people and injuring dozens on Tuesday evening. Most of them were members of Palestinian clans and officers of Gaza’s emergency committee who handled aid supplies and deliveries to starving people in north Gaza. Since Saturday, they had successfully ensured the arrival of 35 aid trucks at the Kuwait and Nabulsi roundabouts, unloading the deliveries in shelters and centers of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza’s Al-Tuffah neighborhood and Jabalia refugee camp.

International Coalition To Stop Genocide In Palestine Global Call

On March 17, the International Coalition to Stop Genocide in Palestine (ICSGP) held its first Global Call to Action as a webinar simultaneously translated into five languages. The goals of the meeting were to share ways that groups are working to build public support for an end to Israel's genocidal acts, provide humanitarian aid to Palestinians and amplify the global anti-colonial, anti-imperial movement. The ICSGP convened in late December, 2023 to push for Israel to be held accountable under the Genocide Convention for its acts in Palestine.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 164: Israeli Army Storms Al-Shifa Again

In the early hours of Monday morning, Israeli forces stormed al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza with tanks and heavy gunfire. There have already been a “number of martyrs and wounded” in the ongoing Israeli onslaught, which began around 2:00 a.m. Gaza’s Ministry of Health said about 30,000 people, including displaced civilians, wounded patients, and medical staff, are trapped inside the complex. Sniper bullets and quadcopters target anyone who tries to move. A fire also broke out at the entrance to the hospital, and cases of suffocation occurred among the displaced women and children inside.

When Starvation Is A Weapon, The Harvest Is Shame

In a work entitled “Irish Famine 4,” Palestinian-American journalist and artist Sam Husseini combined grass and paint to commemorate a bitter time in Irish history when starving people died with their mouths stained green because, according to historian Christine Kinealy, their last meal was grass. Shamefully, British occupiers profited from exporting out of Ireland food crops so desperately needed. Over a seven year period, beginning in 1845, one million Irish people died from starvation and related diseases. It was a conscious mass killing.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 157: Ramadan Begins

Sunday evening marked the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, as Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza amid severe foot shortages continue. Instead of celebrating, Palestinians in Gaza are entering the month with heavy hearts. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Ramadan in the Gaza Strip this year is “unlike the holy month in previous years or anywhere else in the world,” especially in light of the destruction of all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip, including dozens of mosques. Ramadan has arrived as “Palestinians have been suffering from the lack and scarcity of food and drinkable water for more than five consecutive months,”

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 153: Over Two Dozen Palestinian Captives Have ‘Died’ In Israeli Detention Camps

Palestinians inside besieged Gaza have been actively starved by Israel for months, resulting in dire consequences. The situation is especially difficult in the north of Gaza, where only trickles of aid are delivered, and Palestinians are attacked by Israel when seeking out aid shipments. The Gaza Health Ministry reported two more people dying of starvation on Wednesday, bringing the official death toll of those who have succumbed to malnutrition and dehydration in Gaza to 20. In opposition to the lack of food and water entering the besieged enclave, the children of Gaza are protesting, demanding swift action on the part of Arab countries and the international community.

As Hunger Deaths Rise In Gaza, Israel Continues To Block Aid

On the 152nd day of the Israeli onslaught on Gaza, the territory’s Health Ministry said the death toll from malnutrition and dehydration had risen to 20. The ministry noted that “the famine is deepening and will claim thousands of lives if the aggression is not halted and humanitarian and medical aid is not immediately brought in.” It also accused Israel of deliberately” starving thousands of people in northern Gaza and urged the international community and the UN to stop the war and avoid a “health catastrophe.” Calls from the international community to allow more humanitarian aid to reach Gaza continue to grow louder and more urgent.

South Africa Urgently Appeals To ICJ On Gaza Famine

South Africa on Wednesday filed an urgent request with the International Court of Justice for the indication of additional provisional measures and the modification of the court’s order of 26 January 2024 and decision of 16 February 2024 in the case concerning Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel), according to the ICJ in a March 6 press statement. In Its Request, South Africa States That It Is “compelled to return to the Court in light of the new facts and changes in the situation in Gaza — particularly the situation of widespread starvation — brought about by the continuing egregious breaches of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide . . . by the State of Israel . . .

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 151: Israel ‘Campaigns’ To End UNRWA

Israeli forces shot at Palestinians in north Gaza as they waited for aid trucks to arrive, killing and injuring several people. Such an incident has been repeated a few times since last week when Israel killed more than 100 Palestinians seeking food and water, in what is now known as the “flour massacre.” Al-Jazeera’s correspondent, Anas al-Sharif, was with the Palestinian crowd on Monday night, waiting in the dark and running in a destroyed, dusty road behind international aid trucks. However, when vehicles arrived at north Gaza’s Kuwaiti roundabout, Palestinians were scattered, running in different directions, fleeing Israeli bullets.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 147: No Ceasefire In Sight

Over the past twenty-four hours, the international community has widely condemned the Israeli “flour massacre,” when Israeli troops opened fire on hundreds of Palestinians waiting in line for food distribution, killing more than 100 people and injuring at least 760 others. “Crimes and massacres against defenseless Palestinians kill people every day and foster terrorism and extremism in the region,” said the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement. China is one of many countries that has also condemned the killings.

US Slammed For Providing Israel With ‘License To Kill’ Palestinians

According to three different agencies of the UN, over half a million Palestinians are on the verge of famine if heavy interruption of humanitarian aid persists and a ceasefire does not take effect in Gaza soon. The fear was echoed by several countries who also held the US equally responsible for such a catastrophe. The World Food Program (WFP), the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) representatives briefed the UN Security Council on the situation in Gaza at a special meeting called by Guyana, Switzerland, Algeria, and Slovenia on Tuesday, February 27.

Rafah’s Dire Plight: Netanyahu’s Last Grasp For Victory

The Palestinian city of Rafah is not just older than Israel; it is as old as civilization itself. It has existed for thousands of years. The Canaanites referred to it as Rafia, and Rafia has been almost always there, guarding the southern frontiers of Palestine, ancient and modern. As the gateway between two continents and two worlds, Rafah has been at the forefront of many wars and foreign invasions, from ancient Egyptians to the Romans to Napoleon and his eventually vanquished army. Now, it is Benjamin Netanyahu’s turn. The Israeli Prime Minister has made Rafah the jewel of his crown of shame, the battle that would determine the fate of his genocidal war in Gaza – in fact, the very future of his country.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 141: Israel Attacks Civilian Shelter

An Israeli airstrike just hit Rafah, killing seven people, showing that even Rafah, where the majority of displaced Palestinians are sheltering, is no longer safe. The attack comes following a bloody night where Israeli forces attacked a building in Deir el-Balah, where more than 120 people were sheltering. At least 24 Palestinians were killed in the attacks, the majority of whom were women and children. “You can see for yourself the bodies. All the dead were women and children. There is no peaceful place for us to go. We were all displaced, we’ve all lost our homes. Where do you want us to go?

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 132: Israel Bombards Nasser Hospital

Over four months of ruthless Israeli attacks on Gaza have left the besieged enclave, which is home to over 2 million people, decimated. More than half of its population has been crammed into Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah after Israel deemed the area a “safe zone.” However, Israel has since announced plans to conduct a ground invasion of the city, which will put hundreds of thousands of families’ lives at risk. “We will fight until complete victory and this includes a powerful action also in Rafah after we allow the civilian population to leave the battle zones,” the Israeli prime minister said on X. In light of the looming operation, Egypt is allegedly preparing for the Rafah’s population to be expelled.

Let Them Eat Dirt

There was never any possibility that the Israeli government would agree to a pause in the fighting proposed by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, much less a ceasefire. Israel is on the verge of delivering the coup de grâce in its war on Palestinians in Gaza – mass starvation. When Israeli leaders use the term “absolute victory,” they mean total decimation, total elimination. The Nazis in 1942 systematically starved the 500,000 men, women and children in the Warsaw Ghetto. This is a number Israel intends to exceed. Israel, and its chief patron the United States, by attempting to shut down the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which provides food and aid to Gaza, is not only committing a war crime, but is in flagrant defiance of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
