Thousands Protest At Paris Air Show Over Israeli Participation

The roar of fighter jets echoed across the Parisian suburbs as demonstrators marched through the streets of Seine-Saint-Denis. On Saturday, June 21, several thousand protesters wound their way from Bobigny toward Le Bourget airport, demanding an end to what they called the “business of death” at one of the world’s largest arms exhibitions. Marchers carried banners reading “Their wars, their profits, our deaths, stop the genocide in Palestine.” The crowd included Palestinian youth from across Europe alongside French trade unionists, pro-Palestinian activists, and left-wing groups. The Paris Air Show, known in France as the Salon du Bourget, draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every two years to present the latest in aerospace technology.

Maersk Faces Growing Pressure For Supporting Israel’s Genocide In Gaza

On June 11, hundreds of activists from Jewish Voice for Peace and the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) occupied the lobby of shipping giant Maersk’s headquarters in New York to protest the company’s ongoing involvement in, and support for, Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The action followed the release of a new PYM report documenting Maersk’s deep involvement in the global supply chain of F-35 fighter jets, which are routinely used to bomb schools, hospitals, and refugee camps in Palestine. “Maersk has shipped the wings for every Israeli F-35 delivered since at least March 2022, including those for five additional Israeli F-35s scheduled for delivery by 2028,” the report states.

Revenue Of Weapons Manufacturers Continues To Rise

US weapon manufacturers and military contractors registered an unprecedented increase in sales of arms and military services in 2024, according to a US State Department fact sheet. This made 2024 one of the most profitable years ever, in large part thanks to wars in Ukraine and Gaza as well as the military build up around China. According to the figures released by the US State Department, the total revenue from arms sales in 2024 reached a record USD 318.7 billion registering a 29% increase from the previous year. The top US military contractors include Lockheed Martin, Raytheon (RTX), and General Dynamics, among others.

Another Year, Another Arms Dealers’ Dinner Disrupted By Protesters

Protesters vow that arms dealers and politicians will not dine in peace at their £265-£540-a-head annual dinner – as they prepare another year of disruption to the event. The Aerospace, Defence & Security (ADS) Group is an arms-industry trade body that represents most of the world’s biggest arms firms. And according to Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT), every year it holds a dinner to “bring politicians together with reps from [the] world’s biggest arms companies”. The dinner is a prestigious lobbying and networking event for many of the companies complicit in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Spain To Block Maersk Ships Bound To Israel After Pressure From Activists

The Spanish government has announced it will block two ships—Denver and Seletar—operated by shipping giant Maersk and carrying military cargo bound for Israel, from docking at the port of Algeciras. This decision comes just days after the Mask off Maersk campaign released a report exposing the company’s regular use of the Spanish port for transferring cargo that enables the ongoing genocide against Palestinians, despite Spain’s stated arms embargo. Researchers from the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) and Progressive International (PI), who contributed to the report, told Peoples Dispatch that it is unclear whether Pedro Sánchez’s administration was genuinely unaware of the shipments or deliberately chose to look the other way.
