Elbit Systems

The People Of Bristol Just Grabbed The Baton From Palestine Action

After a years-long campaign against Israel’s arms manufacturer Elbit Systems by Palestine Action, residents of Bristol have joined in – by blockading the genocide-enabling company’s factory in the city. A group of approximately 40 Bristol residents are currently blockading a weapons factory in North Bristol, UK. At approximately 7am on Wednesday 6 November, protestors arrived outside Elbit Systems with banners and Palestine flags. Protestors have chosen Elbit Systems, an Israeli-based military technology company, because Elbit currently supplies 85% of Israel’s drone fleet and land-based military equipment.

Barclays Divest From Elbit Systems After Direct Action Campaign

After a year-long campaign against its premises by Palestine Action and local community groups, Barclays PLC has sold all of its shareholdings in Elbit Systems Ltd (ELST). Until recently, Barclays owned over 16,000 shares in Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons company. Starting just over one year ago, Palestine Action’s campaign saw activists undertake 54 actions against Barclays premises nation-wide. Smashing branch windows, spraying them in blood-red paint, many of these actions put Barclays sites out of operation for weeks, actions which sought to raise the costs associated with dealing with Elbit.

Palestine Action Are At Elbit In Bristol Again

Palestine Action has been at it again in Bristol – this time, using a van to disrupt the factory of Elbit Systems in Filton. It shows for the umpteenth time that direct action does work – as the group halted production, therefore stopped arms going to Israel to be used in its genocide in Gaza, and terrorism in Lebanon. It also shows that activists are unafraid of the consequences of their direct action – as ten people who targeted the site previously are now in prison. On Monday 23 September, activists from Palestine Action used a van to block the only entrance into Elbit Systems research, development, and manufacturing hub in Filton, Bristol.

Letter From A Jailed Palestine Activist

My name is Francesca, and I speak to you from a prison cell where I am being unjustly held. Although I can’t be with you in person, these walls can’t silence the power of your support. Knowing that we stand united, even from a distance, fills me with strength. Letters, from people I’ve never even met, remind me daily that my sacrifice has meaning. I’m proud to represent our movement, and I thank you with all my heart. Prison is a microcosm of society. Recently, someone pointed out a new inmate – supposedly a protester like me. Here, I’m known as “The Protester.” But she wasn’t like me at all. She was part of the racist riots that plagued our streets in August.

BDS Win: AXA Divests From Israeli Banks And Elbit Systems

In a resounding victory for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, the French multinational insurance company AXA has sold its investments in all major Israeli banks and divested from Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems. The news was confirmed by a new report published by the corporate accountability group Ekō, which is part of the coalition that’s been pressuring AXA to divest for nearly a decade. “BDS pressure works. The confirmation of AXA’s divestment from all Israeli banks and Elbit Systems is a major milestone for the movement that follows years of strategic BDS campaigning,” said BDS Movement Europe Coordinator Fiona Ben Chekroun in a statement.

Palestine Action Just Hit Two Israel Weapons Suppliers Before Dawn

Just before 5am on Monday 22 July, one group of Palestine Action activists broke inside Manchester-based arms components manufacturer Dean Group International and dismantled machinery and equipment. Police have cordoned off the premises and remain at the scene as activists continue to occupy Dean Group International, Brinell Dr, Irlam, Manchester M44 5BL. Then, in Sunbury-on-Thames another group jumped security fences, shattered windows and hardware belonging to an arms supplier, Ametek Airtechnology. Both companies supply parts to Israel’s largest weapons firm, Elbit Systems.

Palestine Action Hit Two Barclays Branches

On Monday 3 June Palestine Action upped the ante over genocide-enabling Barclays – by targetting two locations of the Israel-complicit bank. Overnight, Palestine Action activists targeted the Bradford and Bolton branches of Barclays, investors in Israel’s largest weapons firm – Elbit Systems. Barclays Bank holds over £1bn in shares and provides over £3bn in loans and underwriting to nine companies whose weapons, components, and military technology are being used by Israel in its genocidal attacks on Palestinians. This includes General Dynamics, which produces the gun systems that arm the fighter jets used by Israel to bombard Gaza, and Elbit Systems, which produces armoured drones, munitions, and artillery weapons used by the Israeli military.

Korean Movements Demand: South Korea, Stop Arming Israel!

On January 19, 150 people protested in front of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) office in the city of Daejeon, demanding the South Korean government stop arming Israel. While Palestine may seem like a distant conflict to South Koreans, the South Korean military-industrial complex is a key pillar in the Israeli war machine. According to Peace Momo, Hanwha, South Korea’s leading defense company, signed a major technology cooperation and export deal with Israeli weapons company, Elbit Systems, at the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) in 2021.
