Embassy Protectors Will Not Be Able To Tell Jury Guaido Is Not President, Or Mention International Law

On February 4, Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell issued a ruling on what the jurors will be allowed to be told in the trial of the Embassy Protectors scheduled to begin on February 11. She granted most of the government’s requests to prevent the jury from hearing important facts about the case, leaving the protectors with little in the way of a defense. The courtroom will not be an oasis of truth in Washington, DC. The fact that Nicolas Maduro is the lawful president of Venezuela, not the coup leader Juan Guaido, cannot be uttered in that courtroom.

Trump Pushes Forward With Regime Change Strategy In Venezuela

The Trump administration said Wednesday that the United States will soon bolster its year-long campaign to topple socialist Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro with even harsher measures against a Venezuelan government already effectively facing a U.S. embargo.

Bolivia: Interpol Rejects Coup Government Request For Persecution Against Evo Morales

Attorney Eduardo León revealed that Interpol considered that the request processed by the Attorney General, Juan Lanchipa, differed from Articles 2(i) and 3 of its Statute and decided not to publish the notice and to remove the data of Morales from its database. The document specified that Article 2 states that its actions must be in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, while Article 3 prohibits the entity from ‘intervening in matters of a political, military, religious or racial character’.

Fighting For Venezuela Is Fighting For The independence Of Our America

Venezuela, stoically resisting imperialist attacks on its people, welcomes the World Anti-imperialist Encounter: For Life, Sovereignty and Peace, to define strategies for the development and future of humanity. Bolivia: Elections Under A Dictatorship

The United States imperialist offensive against the people in Latin America and the Caribbean is beginning a new phase—showing clear fascist tendencies in some countries. Though this is not the only symptom, a clear example of it is the U.S. obsessive effort to starve to death and cause death due to insalubrity to the Venezuelan and Cuban people just for the sake of hindering their sacred human right to self-determination.

Bolivia: As Elections Near, US-Backed Interim Gov’t Mobilizes Military, Arrests Opposition Leaders

Wednesday, January 22 marks the day that Jeanine Añez is set to stand down as “interim” President of Bolivia, beginning the process for fresh elections set for May 3. Añez came to power in November, following a U.S.-backed coup that deposed the Movement to Socialism’s (MAS) Evo Morales. However, she is certainly not acting as if she intends to relinquish her power, let alone move towards new elections. Instead, she has sent the military...

Venezuelan Assembly to Investigate US Funding to Guaido

The president of the National Assembly, Luis Parra, announced the creation of a commission to investigate the financing of USAID to the right-wing opposition sectors led by Juan Guaido. The president of the National Assembly (NA), Luis Parra, announced this Monday that the Parliament will name a special commission that will be in charge of investigating the use of the alleged humanitarian aid funds sent to sectors of the extreme right of Venezuela, by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Venezuela: Juan Guaido’s Reasons For An International Tour

Venezuelan legislator Juan Guaido’s international tour has raised eyebrows and expectations among coup monger sectors in the country once again. The series of photographs coming out, first with Colombian President Ivan Duque and then with U.S. State Secretary Mike Pompeo and Special Envoy for Venezuela Elliott Abrams, revealed again Guaido with strong international support.

Giuliani Told U.S. His Client Deserves Leniency For Financing Venezuela’s Opposition

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - At a lavish August gathering at a private estate in Spain, a wealthy Venezuelan businessman under criminal investigation in the United States introduced Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, to the father of Venezuela’s opposition leader, Juan Guaido. The affair was part of a campaign for leniency for the businessman, Alejandro Betancourt, who sought to demonstrate his close ties to opposition figures looking to oust Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolas Maduro...

Demonstrators Call For Juan Guaidó To Be “Put On Trial”, Not Legitimised By UK Government

Venezuelan opposition figure Juan Guaidó led a US-backed coup attempt in Venezuela in 2019 after declaring himself "interim president" of the country. Guaidó also backed US sanctions on his country which the Center for Economic and Policy Research blamed for killing 40,000 Venezuelans between 2017 and 2018. Over two dozen people gathered across from the UK Prime Minister’s residence to denounce a visit by Venezuelan opposition figure Juan Guaidó. The protest was arranged at the last minute by the Hands Off Venezuela (HOV) ...

Glenn Greenwald Faces Possible Imprisonment By Bolsonaro Regime

When Edward Snowden was an anonymous National Security Agency subcontractor with documents revealing the existence of global surveillance programs, Glenn Greenwald, then at The Guardian, was among the small group of journalists Snowden trusted to publish the documents in 2013. The publication earned Greenwald a reputation as an outspoken defender of free speech and whistleblowers. He went on to co-found The Intercept, and then The Intercept Brasil, after moving to Brazil in 2005.

In Venezuela, Reactionary Guaidó Humiliated By Assembly Defeat

The self-appointed “interim president” of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, received a humiliating setback in that country’s National Assembly vote on Jan. 5. He was deposed as leader of the parliamentary body. Throughout 2019, Guaidó served as the designated puppet of U.S. imperialism in Venezuela. He made five attempts with a reactionary, pro-U.S. regime to overthrow and replace the Bolivarian government led by President Nicolás Maduro. Guaidó had no base among Venezuelans outside of his own assembly district and little credibility even among the opposition.

“Where Are The US Dollars?”: Suspected Corruption Over Guaidó Splits Opposition In Venezuela.

Since coming to the presidency of the National Assembly of Venezuela in January 2019, Congressman Juan Guaidó has implemented a series of actions against the government of Nicolás Maduro that have been unsuccessful, which has eroded his leadership. Furthermore, the frequent corruption scandals, denounced by the allies themselves, caused a wave of dissatisfaction within the Venezuelan opposition sector. National Assembly deputies now accuse Juan Guaidó of hiding the fate of funds sent by foreign governments and donors, as there have been no accounts to date.

Poll Shows Nicaraguans Have Consigned The Coup To The Dustbin Of History

The latest poll by independent M&R Consultants covering the last quarter of 2019, shows that less than two years after the failed coup attempt of April-July, 2018, the Sandinista government, led by President Daniel Ortega is more popular than ever and all but a tiny minority of Nicaraguans reject the violent tactics and street blockades used by the US-supported opposition. In the face of these poll numbers it is hard to maintain any credibility for the opposition and corporate media narrative that says Ortega is a dictator, the police are repressing the people, and that Nicaragua is collapsing into a failed state.

“The International Communications University Is Born”

I was invited to the International Communication Encounter that brought together about 140 popular communicators, counter-information analysts, and alternative media outlets from around the world but particularly from Latin America. During three days we discussed what we could do to strengthen the entire counter-information system in these moments in which Latin America is enduring terrible attacks from the U.S. Empire, as is the case of Bolivia and popular rebellions too. The urgency is to develop and connect communicators to be on a par with the moment.
