Julian Assange

Free Chelsea Manning (Again)!

U.S. Army whistleblower Chelsea Manning has been sent back to jail after refusing to answer questions before a grand jury investigating WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange. The Trump administration is pushing forward on its plan to prosecute WikiLeaks and Assange for publishing the thousands of top-secret documents that Chelsea anonymously provided them in the spring of 2010. The documents provided an overview of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the “Collateral Murder” video, as well as State Department cables and Guantanamo prisoner information. Chelsea’s 35-year prison sentenced was commuted by President Obama in the final days of his presidency.

Supporters Attempt To Visit Chelsea Manning

Sheriff’s deputies in Alexandria, Va., refused to allow supporters of Chelsea Manning, the government whistleblower who spent seven years in prison, to visit her in jail on Saturday, a day after she was taken into custody for refusing to testify before a federal grand jury purportedly investigating news publisher WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange. At the visitor’s entrance to the detention center, the supporters were told they would not be allowed in and that Manning was still being held in a cell by herself in the jail’s intake area and had not been sent into the jail’s general population.

The Political Lessons Of The March 3 Free Assange Rally

The March 3 rally in Sydney organised by the Socialist Equality Party (Australia) represented a significant step forward in the fight to secure the freedom of persecuted WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange. Hundreds assembled in person at Martin Place Amphitheatre and were addressed by both SEP representatives and leading defenders of Assange, WikiLeaks and freedom of speech: journalist and filmmaker John Pilger, civil rights advocate Professor Stuart Rees and Consortium News editor-in-chief Joe Lauria.

Chelsea Manning Incarcerated For Refusing To Testify In Assange Grand Jury

On Friday, March 3, 2019, Chelsea Manning was incarcerated for refusing to testify before a grand jury in Alexandria, VA investigating Julian Assange. She will stay in jail until she agrees to testify or until the term of the grand jury ends. It is unknown when this grand jury began but grand jury terms can last up to 18 months. Manning opposes the secrecy of grand juries as the lack of transparency can lead to government abuse. She said outside the courthouse, “These secret proceedings tend to favor the government, I’m always willing to explain things publicly.”

With Ecuador’s Cooperation Bought By IMF Loans, Washington Waxes Optimistic On Assange Extradition

WASHINGTON — Chelsea Manning’s fight against her subpoena in the U.S. Department of Justice’s grand-jury case targeting WikiLeaks founder and former publisher Julian Assange this past week has revealed several uncomfortable truths, not only about that investigation but also about the fate of Assange, whose asylum in Ecuador’s London embassy hangs precariously in the balance. While reporting on the probe has largely focused on the nature of the still-sealed DOJ case, most reports have largely missed the fact that the marked increase in activity relating to the probe is directly related to the fact that Ecuador has, by all indications, agreed to rescind Assange’s asylum so that he may be extradited to the United States.

The Prisoner Says No To Big Brother

March 04, 2019 "Information Clearing House" -  Whenever I visit Julian Assange, we meet in a room he knows too well. There is a bare table and pictures of Ecuador on the walls. There is a bookcase where the books never change. The curtains are always drawn and there is no natural light. The air is still and fetid. This is Room 101. Before I enter Room 101, I must surrender my passport and phone. My pockets and possessions are examined. The food I bring is inspected. The man who guards Room 101 sits in what looks like an old-fashioned telephone box. He watches a screen, watching Julian. There are others unseen, agents of the state, watching and listening.

Manning Subpoenaed To Testify Before Grand Jury In Assange Investigation

Chelsea Manning has been called to testify before a grand jury in the investigation of Julian Assange, officials said. The summons is one of several indicators that prosecutors remain interested in WikiLeaks‘ publication of diplomatic cables and military war logs in 2010. Ms. Manning’s attorneys have filed a motion to quash the subpoena.  “I object strenuously to this subpoena, and to the grand jury process in general,” Ms. Manning said in a statement.

Julian Assange Gets A New Australian Passport

Fugitive Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been issued with a new Australian passport after lengthy negotiations over whether he was subject to an arrest warrant for a "serious foreign offence". A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade official confirmed in a Senate estimates hearing on Thursday that Mr Assange's 2018 application for a new passport had been accepted. Consular and Crisis Management Division first assistant secretary Andrew Todd said, "Mr Assange does have an Australian passport". The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed Mr Assange received his new Australian passport in September 2018. The passport has gone unreported until now.

Proof Trump Administration Is Guilty Of Silencing Julian Assange

Folks, don’t let his administration fool you, the proof is in the pudding and the pudding leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Men like Mike Pompeo, and VP Mike Pence are so guilty of the 8-month torture of Julian Assange it is unreal. Yet, there are those of you who are still in denial and probably still will be after I share the facts. Julian was gagged on March 28th, 2018 and had no access to the internet, visitors or the telephone. After 15 days, according to the UN Nelson Mandela Act, solitary confinement is considered torture. Ecuador President Lenin Moreno issued this order but let me show how he was coerced by the United States. Now for the proof who was behind it.

What It’s Like To Be The Target Of Character Assassination

Suzie Dawson is a long time political activist who deserves our support. She is currently leading efforts to defend Julian Assange for his work as publisher of Wikileaks. Julian Assange Is Dying In Darkness While The Washington Post Pats Itself On The Back

During Sunday’s Super Bowl, American and many international viewers witnessed the debut of an advertisement for the Washington Post. The Tom Hanks narrated advertisement spoke of the ideal values of honest journalism, before paying tribute to journalists who had lost their lives in recent years, including the Saudi born Jamal Khashoggi who had worked for the Washington Post prior to his murder inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

OAS Requests Info On Assange’s Asylum Conditions In Ecuadorian Embassy In UK

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry said it had been asked by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (part of the Organization of American States), to provide the information related to the WikiLeaks founder's asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in light of the recently filed motion asking the commission for protection. "On January 29, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights has notified the State of Ecuador about a motion on protection measures which has been filed by the lawyers of Julian Assange. With regard to this, the commission has asked us to provide information concerning the situation in the embassy", the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Assange Takes Legal Action To Force Trump Administration To Reveal Charges Against Him

Lawyers for Julian Assange have filed an urgent application to the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights (IACHR), based in Washington D.C., to direct the Trump Administration to unseal the charges it has secretly filed against Mr. Assange. Assange's lawyers are also asking the Commission to compel Ecuador to cease its espionage activities against Mr. Assange, to stop the isolation imposed on him and to protect him from U.S. extradition.

The Assange/Manafort Lie And The US Department Of Justice

Due to a fake news article by the Guardian Newspaper, written by Luke Harding of the Guardian along with Villavicencio and Dan Collyns, reporting that Paul Manafort had met with Julian Assange, the DOJ in the U.S. is investigating the claim of the meeting. There is no evidence of such a meeting. In truth, facts show that Manafort actually met with President Lenin Moreno of Ecuador to arrange the eviction of Assange. Yet, in recent breaking news from Wikileaks, the U.S. DOJ has issued letters to interrogate 6 former diplomats and staff at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.

The Twitter Smearing Of Corbyn And Assange

The U.K.-financed Integrity Initiative, managed by the Institute for Statecraft, is ostensibly a “counter disinformation” program to challenge Russian information operations. However, it has been revealed that the Integrity Initiative Twitter handle and some individuals associated with this program have also been tweeting messages attacking Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. This takes on special meaning in light of the numerous U.K. military and intelligence personnel associated with the program, documented in an important briefing by academics in the Working Group on Syria Propaganda and Media.
