‘Turnkey Tyranny’ On The Streets Of Washington

Gerry Condon, President of Veterans For Peace, was bloodied and “taken to ground,” on Wednesday night for trying to get food to people inside the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington. The activists inside, some of whom have lived in the embassy for weeks with permission from the Venezuelan government, are protecting the premises from protestors who support the self-declared president Juan Guaido. With the acquiescence of Washington police and the Secret Service, the protestors have been able to block food from entering the embassy.  On Wednesday night electricity was cut to the building.

‘Dangerous And Appalling’: US Defenders Of Venezuelan Embassy Demand Secret Service End Illegal Water And Power Shutoff

What is happening at the embassy, said one activist, is "a microcosm of the what is taking place in Venezuela as the U.S. continues to try and orchestrate a coup." Police in Washington, D.C. and Secret Service agents cut water and electricity to the Venezuelan embassy on Wednesday, the latest attempt by the U.S. government to oust supporters of President Nicolas Maduro who are defending the building with his government's blessing. In response to the move, the activists inside—who for weeks have fended off anti-Maduro protesters outside—are demanding the water and electricity be turned back on.

Violent, Bigoted Supporters Of Juan Guaidó Attempt To Invade Venezuela’s D.C. Embassy

WASHINGTON — Emboldened by the attempted military coup — and amidst the ongoing tenancy of the Embassy Protection Collective at Venezuela’s Washington embassy at the invitation of the legitimate government of Venezuela — opposition activists rallied on Tuesday, hurling racist and homophobic slurs at members of the Collective. On several occasions, they attempted to unlawfully break into the embassy and injure its protectors. MintPress News has been at the embassy in D.C. since Wednesday, recording livestream reports and publishing articles featuring the voices of activists on the front lines in the fight against US imperialism...

Venezuela: It’s Only A Coup If The US Government Says So

It’s Groundhog Day again in Venezuela, as the local conservative opposition has launched another attempt to oust President Nicolás Maduro from power. Surrounded by a few hardcore supporters, Washington-backed self-appointed president Juan Guaidó on April 30 called on the military to rise up and overthrow the democratically elected Maduro. Guaidó, a man who has never even stood for president, attempted the same thing in January, and the opposition has attempted to remove Maduro, and his predecessor Hugo Chávez, on many occasions, including in 2017, 2014, 2013, 2002 and 2001.

US State Department Publishes, Then Deletes Sadistic Venezuela Hit List Boasting Of Economic Ruin

On April 24, six days before self-proclaimed Venezuelan “interim president” Juan Guaido’s attempt to violently overthrow Venezuela’s democratically elected government alongside a handful of military defectors, the U.S. State Department published a fact sheet that boasted of Washington’s central role in the ongoing coup attempt. After realizing the incriminating nature of its error, the State Department quickly acted to remove the page. The Grayzone has obtained a full copy of the expunged report.

Coup Supporters Besiege Activist Protectors At Venezuela Embassy As Takeover Bid Fails

Washington, DC. The seige at the Venezuela Embassy continued into its eighth day on Tuesday as pro-Juan Guaidó opposition built human chains to blockade food, water, and medicine. Inside the Embassy, the Protection Collective hunkered down for what may be a long term seige as food supplies dwindle and medications begin to run out. Meanwhile embassy supporters outside, the press, and observers are having a tough go of it as opposition block and harass them on the sidewalks around the five story building in Georgetown.

Venezuelan Military Putsch Defeated As Leopoldo Lopez Takes Refuge In Spanish Embassy

The thwarted uprising started in the early morning hours when renegade military and intelligence officers reportedly released Lopez from house arrest. Lopez then joined Guaido and a handful of soldiers on the Altamira overpass in east Caracas, outside the Francisco de Miranda airbase, known as La Carlota. Lopez and Guaido released videos on social media, calling on the armed forces to back their efforts and urging supporters to take to the streets, in what they termed as the “final phase” of the so-called “Operation Freedom.” Large crowds of anti-government protesters, as well as opposition lawmakers, made their way to the Altamira overpass.

Leaked: USA’s Feb 2018 Plan For Coup In Venezuela

This document was personally signed by Admiral Kurt W. Tidd, who was the Commander (the chief), at SOUTHCOM, and he was thus the top U.S. military official handling Venezuela. But this was far more than just a military plan. It was comprehensive — directing military, diplomatic, and propaganda, policies — regarding the Trump Administration’s planned “Overthrow” of Venezuela’s Government. His plan has since guided the Administration’s entire operation, including “the capacities of the psychological war,” regarding Venezuela.

Failed Coup In Venezuela Intensifies Battle At Embassy

Yet a battle rages at the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, D.C., where activists living inside at the invitation of the Maduro government have been under siege. They have been assaulted by blaring bullhorns, sirens, strobe lights, and a violent opposition that has been drilling holes into the building and attempting to knock down the embassy door. The opposition also reared its racist, sexist, anti-LGBTQIA+ head, with its members spewing slurs at activists and journalists, and stalking a journalist. All this while the Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department have looked away and arrested more embassy activists than opposition members.

Media Lies In Service Of War For Regime Change In Venezuela

Tuesday’s abortive coup attempt initiated by the US puppet and self-proclaimed “interim president” Juan Guaidó in Venezuela has served once again to expose the criminal role of the US corporate media. Guaidó’s video of himself and Leopoldo Lopez, the leader of Guaidó’s extreme right-wing CIA-funded party, Voluntad Popular, appearing with a few dozen armed men in uniform and calling for a military uprising, was greeted with undisguised glee by the major media outlets. This stunt was staged as the 100-day “reign” of Mr. Guaidó, existing only in the greedy imagination of US imperialism and Big Oil, appeared no closer to establishing control over Venezuela.

Pence Tries to Dismiss Ilhan Omar on Venezuela, Fails Miserably

Progressive United States lawmaker Ilhan Omar has called out U.S. Vice President Mike Pence's implict racism and sexism for seeking to dismiss her comments in support of the legitimate government of Venezuela without engaging her on the merits of the argument. Omar was quick to point out the arrogance behind Pence's dismissive remarks, saying; “Women of color have heard this before. Instead of 'we disagree,'  it's 'she doesn't know what she's talking about.' They have to make us feel small. This from an Administration that thinks climate change is a Chinese hoax.”

Protecting An Embassy, Resisting A Coup + Borderless Solidarity Via Pan-Africanism

Venezuela is under attack. As US empire applies various violent tactics to destabilize the nation, a group of activists stand in the way of the war machine by holding space at the Venezuelan embassy. Next, Netfa Freeman discuss pan-african issues and the neo-colonialist scramble for Africa also known as AFRICOM.

Venezuelan Military Putsch Defeated As Leopoldo Lopez Takes Refuge In Spanish Embassy

Caracas, April 30, 2019 (venezuelanalysis.com) – “Interim President” Juan Guaido and right-wing opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez spearheaded an unsuccessful coup attempt in Caracas on Tuesday.

Zero Percent Of Elite Commentators Oppose Regime Change In Venezuela

A FAIR survey of US opinion journalism on Venezuela found no voices in elite corporate media that opposed regime change in that country. Over a three-month period (1/15/19–4/15/19), zero opinion pieces in the New York Times and Washington Post took an anti–regime change or pro-Maduro/Chavista position. Not a single commentator on the big three Sunday morning talkshows or PBS NewsHour came out against President Nicolás Maduro stepping down from the Venezuelan government.
