Ukraine’s Future; A ‘Steppe Corridor’, A Neutral, Transit-Oriented State

While Russia is confidently prosecuting the war in Ukraine towards its inevitable end. Meanwhile the 'West' is still negotiating with itself about the conditions under which it will have to capitulate. Discussions continue about 'security guarantees' for Ukraine even as the only serious ones are those that Russia is willing to give. The confused arguments about 'guarantees' are reflected in the reports of them. Consider this nonsense: A security guarantee could encompass a wide range of issues. In return for Russia ending its invasion, a security pact could include a pledge of U.S. air support for any European-led operations should Russian troops resume their assault. If Russia ends the war NATO like 'security guarantees' are to be given to Ukraine as a reward?

How Israel And Ukraine Built A Fascist, Transnational War Machine

From Bandera to Ben-Gurion, echoes of ethno-nationalist revival resonate in the modern trajectories of Ukraine and Israel, two states forged through war, hardened by siege mentalities, and fueled by historical narratives of existential struggle. But these similarities are no accident of parallel development. They reflect a deepening alignment shaped by shared adversaries like Russia and Iran, backed and brokered by the same Western patrons. In 2022, an officer of Ukraine’s Azov Regiment, toured Israel after surviving the siege of Mariupol. By 2025, Israeli drones were flying missions over Rafah, while American-made PSRL-1 rocket launchers, initially supplied to Ukraine, were spotted in conflict zones across the Middle East.

The Ukraine War Is Over And Ukraine Lost (To The USA) In 2014

Even some of my readers have Ukraine derangement, where they think the Empire that has been wrong about every war happens to be right about this one. It ain’t true. Ukraine is just one front of the war White Empire is waging on the world, and I hope they lose. Thankfully albeit tragically (by Russia’s own admission), they are. Ukraine is simply exhausted and Empire is bored. Ukraine’s men have been thrown around like toy soldiers and, like the meme goes, America is saying I don’t want to play with you no more. That’s the meaning behind all this talk of negotiations. They’re meaningless. All that’s left is surrender. You have to consider negotiations in this context. Trump has said Ukraine is not his war and he visibly dressed down the already illegitimate (no elections) Zelensky.

Trump Says He’s Working To Arrange A Meeting Between Putin And Zelensky

President Trump said on Monday that he was working on arranging a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, comments that came after a day of hosting the Ukrainian leader and several European officials at the White House. “At the conclusion of the meetings, I called President Putin, and began the arrangements for a meeting, at a location to be determined, between President Putin and President Zelensky,” the president wrote on Truth Social. Trump said that once Putin and Zelensky meet, he would join them for a three-way talk. “After that meeting takes place, we will have a Trilat, which would be the two Presidents, plus myself,” he wrote.

Declassified: CIA’s Covert Ukraine Invasion Plan

On August 7th, US polling giant Gallup published the remarkable results of a survey of Ukrainians. Public support for Kiev “fighting until victory” has plummeted to a record low “across all segments” of the population, “regardless of region or demographic group.” In a “nearly complete reversal from public opinion in 2022,” 69% of citizens “favor a negotiated end to the war as soon as possible.” Just 24% wish to keep fighting. However, vanishingly few believe the proxy war will end anytime soon. The reasons for Ukrainian pessimism on this point are unstated, but an obvious explanation is the intransigence of President Volodymyr Zelensky, encouraged by his overseas backers – Britain in particular.

Pentagon Paves Way To Reclaim Ukraine-Bound Arms To US Stockpiles

A memo written by the US Defense Department’s policy chief will allow US weapons and equipment earmarked for Ukraine to be diverted back into US stockpiles, CNN reported on 8 August. According to four people who have read the memo, the policy represents “a dramatic shift” that could see billions of dollars of weapons redirected to shore up dwindling US supplies. The memo was written last month by US Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby, but has become public ahead of US President Donald Trump’s planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting is tentatively scheduled for next week. Items desired by Ukraine’s military that are in short supply in the US include interceptor missiles, Patriot air defense systems, and artillery ammunition.

US, UK In Secret Talks With Ukrainian Officials To ‘Replace Zelensky’

Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has revealed that US and British officials recently held a meeting in the Alps with top Ukrainian officials to discuss “replacing” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to a statement made available to TASS, the meeting involved Andrey Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Kirill Budanov, chief of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, and Valery Zaluzhny, the country’s ex-commander-in-chief who is now Ukraine’s ambassador to London.. "The Americans and the British announced their decision to propose Zaluzhny to the Ukrainian presidency.

Veterans And Allies Come Together At A Critical Moment In History

After six years apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic, military veterans and peace activists from around the world will gather in-person once again for the Veterans For Peace National Convention, held July 24–27, 2025, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The hybrid event also offers virtual access for attendees worldwide. Veterans For Peace, a national organization of former service members committed to ending war and militarism, will host workshops, speakers, and strategy sessions focused on peacebuilding, climate justice, and veterans' advocacy—including issues like demilitarizing police, returning deported veterans, confronting mass deportation, and ending U.S. involvement in Gaza and Ukraine.

The Battle Over Zelenski’s Fate Is Still In Balance

An intense information operation has been launched to remove Ukraine's (former) President Vladimir Zelenski from office. Behind it are a cabal of Ukrainian opposition figures in coordination which western media and parts of the Trump administration. The current campaign follows a earlier one which was directed against Zelenski's main advisor and head of the office of the president Andrei Yermak. The once little-known lawyer and B-movie producer — now in the thick of triangular peace diplomacy with the Americans and Russians — is always reverently loyal to his boss. In an interview with POLITICO last year, he referred to him glowingly as the “president of the people.” What else could he say? Yermak has ridden Zelenskyy’s coattails to become the second-most-powerful figure in Ukraine — even a co-equal.

Medvedev Condemns Western ‘Treachery’

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev warned on 17 July that Moscow must be prepared to deliver preemptive strikes against the west if necessary. Speaking to TASS on the 80th anniversary of the Potsdam Conference, Medvedev said, “The west's treacherous nature and its warped sense of superiority are still evident. And we should therefore act accordingly, responding in full or even delivering preemptive strikes if need be.” Reflecting on the historical lessons of 1945, Medvedev added that the conference – attended by the leaders of the USSR, US, and UK after their victory in World War II – revealed that relations with the west must not be based on illusions.

Trump’s 50-Day Deadline Threat Against Putin Will Backfire

In the first six months of his second term, President Donald Trump has demonstrated his love for three things: deals, tariffs, and ultimatums. He got to combine these passions during his Oval Office meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Monday. Only moments after the two leaders announced a new plan to get military aid to Ukraine, Trump issued an ominous 50-day deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a ceasefire. “We're going to be doing secondary tariffs if we don't have a deal within 50 days,” Trump told the assembled reporters. The threat is unlikely to change Putin’s calculus, however, or bring the conflict to a near-term conclusion.

Hungary Refuses To Finance US Weapons For Ukraine

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on 14 July that Hungary will not participate in financing US weapons for Ukraine, even if Washington formally proposes the initiative to the EU. “I would like to emphasize that Hungarian money, Hungarian weapons, and Hungarian soldiers will not be sent to Ukraine.  Nothing will be sent there,” Szijjártó stated during a press conference in Budapest following a meeting with Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour. Despite this, he expressed support for US President Donald Trump’s so-called peace efforts, stating: “No one has done as much for peace in Ukraine as Trump.”

Ukraine’s Corporate Carve-Up Collapses?

On July 5th, Bloomberg reported that a BlackRock-administered multibillion-dollar fund for Kiev’s reconstruction, due to be unveiled at a dedicated Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome July 10th/11th, had been placed on hold at the start of 2025 “due to a lack of interest” among institutional, private, and state financiers. The summit is over, lack of investor enthusiasm persists, and “the project’s future is now uncertain.” It’s just the latest confirmation the West’s long-running mission to carve up Ukraine for profit verges on total disintegration. BlackRock’s Ukraine Development Fund has been in the works since May 2023. It was originally envisaged as one of the most ambitious public-private finance collaborations in history, which would rival Washington’s Marshall Plan that rebuilt – and heavily indebted – Western Europe in World War II’s wake.

The Europeans And The United States Against Russia

Dmitri Trenin on the intermediate results of the "special diplomatic operation" The war will not end in 2025. It will not end after the end of hostilities in Ukraine. We need to realize that the current conflict is not about Ukraine as such. This is a proxy (so far) war of the West against Russia. And this confrontation itself is part of an ongoing world war, in which the West is fighting to maintain world hegemony. This will be a long war, and the United States, with or without Trump, will remain our adversary. At stake for us in this struggle is not the status of Ukraine, but the existence of Russia.

Trump Dead-Ends Putin

Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have spoken by telephone numerous times since the former reassumed office seven months ago. Not much appears to have been  accomplished by way of these exchanges, some of which have been lengthy, according to the accounts Washington and Moscow have provided afterward. No progress toward a durable settlement to end the war in Ukraine. Talk and desultory diplomatic contacts with a view to repairing the profligate damage successive American administrations have done to U.S.–Russian relations, but no substantive advances. O.K., it is what it is, as we say. But there was something singularly conclusive about the telephone conversation the U.S. and Russian leaders had last Thursday.
