Venezuelan Embassy Stands Strong; Activist-Tenants Vow To Resist Illegal Eviction

People from all over the United States came to Washington, D.C. and joined together last night at the Venezuelan Embassy in a powerful demonstration of solidarity with the people of Venezuela. While banners were hung from outside the windows of the Embassy, people held a night of political education and tactical discussions. The ongoing Embassy Protection Collective continues to prevent the U.S. government from illegally seizing the Embassy of Venezuela in Washington, D.C.

Venezuelan Opposition Reps Throw Temper Tantrums When Confronted About Lack Of Legitimacy, Interventionist Plans At OAS

On April 23, the Venezuelan lawyer and opposition activist Gustavo Tarre stood outside the Simon Bolivar room inside the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC and fielded friendly questions from reporters. It was a rare day of celebration for the Venezuelan opposition, which had been deprived of concrete victories since launching their coup with US backing in January. Having just been installed with as Venezuela’s “ambassador” at the OAS, Tarre controlled little more than the chair he sat in. But as he was trotted out into the hall by a young handler in order to hold his first press-conference as “ambassador,” he beamed with pride.

Arresting Members Of The Embassy Protection Collective Would Be Unlawful

We have told the State Department that if they enter the Venezuelan Embassy they are violating international law and if they arrest members of the Collective for trespass or unlawful entry these will be unlawful arrests. Members of the Collective are in the embassy with the permission of the elected government of Venezuela.  In two messages to the State Department today, the Collective explained that we are not violating the law and if there are unlawful arrests we will pursue legal action to hold people responsible for ordering arrests or making arrests. We are prepared for the Secret Service and DC police to come to the embassy tomorrow and are not intimidated by their threats. We know that we are not violating any laws.

Activists Stay In Venezuelan Embassy 24/7 To Protect It

On March 18, opposition leader Juan Guaido's people took over the Venezuelan consulate in New York  City and the military attaché office in Washington, DC. They announced they will take over the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, DC next. Activists, with permission of the legitimate Venezuelan government, have been staying at the embassy 24/7 for over two weeks now to protect it from opposition people entering. They may attempt to do so as soon as April 25. The US is setting a new precedent by failing a coup attempt but pretending it succeeded and turning assets over to the opposition anyway. We speak with Medea Benjamin, co-founder of CODE PINK, who is staying with us in the embassy.

Venezuela: Embassy Protection Collective ‘The Next Two Days Are Crucial’

The next two days will be crucial for the protection of the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, DC. The Embassy Protection Collective is prepared to stay at the embassy for the foreseeable future, for as long as it takes to protect the sovereignty of Venezuela from a US coup by the United States with a fraudulent puppet government that the entire world is a farce -- unelected and illegal under Venezuelan law. We stand with the Venezuelan government and their legitimately elected president, Nicolas Maduro.  People can support the Collective by joining inside or outside of the embassy. A strong show of public support will prevent the takeover of the embassy. There are many levels of risk people can take to show their solidarity.

Activists Protect DC Venezuelan Embassy From US-Supported Coup

An extraordinary chapter in the ongoing saga of Venezuela has been taking place, virtually unnoticed, at the Venezuela Embassy that lies in the heart of swanky Georgetown in Washington DC. A group initiated by CODEPINK and Popular Resistance, all activists opposed to the prospect of the Venezuelan opposition taking over the Embassy, have been living inside the building for the past two weeks, working side-by-side with the skeletal Venezuela diplomatic staff that has been told by the State Department that they must leave by April 24.

Americans Intervene To Protect Venezuelan Embassy, Fearful Of U.S. Takeover

Washington, DC— American supporters of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro have chained the front doors of the Venezuelan Embassy in Georgetown to prevent the Trump administration from invading and taking over the building. Calling themselves the Embassy Protection Collective, they are residing at the Venezuela Embassy 24 hours a day at the invitation of diplomatic staff. They’ve labeled the Trump administration’s attempts to replace President Nicolás Maduro a coup and an illegal act in contravention of international norms. Embassy staff are calling the Americans staying there Colectivos por la Paz (Collectives for Peace).

Solidarity With Venezuela Now! Protect The Embassy

We are writing to you from inside the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, DC where we are taking action against a US coup of the independent and sovereign Bolivarian Republican of Venezuela. The Embassy Protection Collective (Colectivos Por La Paz) is here with the permission of the Venezuelan government to show our solidarity with the Venezuelan people. The upcoming week will be a critical one, as we explain below. The opposition, with its illegal, pretend government, say they will attempt to take over the embassy this week after the diplomats leave on Wednesday, as ordered by the US State Department.

“Imperialism Does Not Understand The Resistance Of The Venezuelan People”

In the first place, we must not ignore that there exists a complex situation in Venezuela economically, even politically, because of the offensive that is taking place, the important thing is to identify the causes that are behind this situation. We know that since 1999, when Chávez’s mandate began, Venezuela became an unusual and extraordinary threat, not because we have the newest weapons in the world, but because we confront imperialism and resolve to be independent and sovereign. Since that moment we have been attacked and the attack intensified since 2013.

What Do Iran & Venezuela Have In Common?

A special two-part episode that takes a look at how US empire operates in two of its latest and long standing efforts to terrorize and oppress foreign peoples, trample self-determination, and whitewash hearts and minds here at home. In this segment, Kevin Zeese talks about the escalating campaign against Venezuela, how people in Venezuela perceive and understand these attacks and what folks here in the states are doing to stand up to their imperialist government.

Why Venezuela Has Not Been Defeated

April 15, 2019 "Information Clearing House" - Over the past half decade, a small army of US analysts, politicians, academics and media pundits have been predicting the imminent fall, overthrow, defeat and replacement of the Venezuelan government. They have been wrong on all counts, in each and every attempt to foist a US client regime. In fact, most of the US induced ‘regime changes’ has strengthened the support for the Chavez – Maduro government. When the US promoted a military-business coup in 2002, a million poor people surrounded the presidential palace...

Action: 24/7 Protection of DC Venezuelan Embassy

Washington, DC - Activists opposed to the Venezuelan opposition takeover of diplomatic buildings belonging to the elected Venezuelan government have been staging a 24/7 vigil to protect the Venezuelan Embassy that lies in the heart of Georgetown in Washington DC. Calling themselves the Embassy Civilian Protection Collective, the activists are working in the embassy during the day, holding educational events in the evening, and sleeping on couches at night. The evening events include seminars on Julian Assange, Haiti, US foreign policy in Africa, peace talks with Korea, the war in Yemen, and the political situation in Venezuela.

US Military Attack On Venezuela Mulled By Top Trump Advisors And Latin American Officials At Private DC Meeting

The Washington, DC-based think tank the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) hosted a private roundtable on April 10 called “Assessing the Use of Military Force in Venezuela.” A list of attendees was provided to The Grayzone and two participants confirmed the meeting took place. They refused to offer any further detail, however. Among the roughly 40 figures invited to the off-the-record event to discuss potential US military action against Caracas were some of the most influential advisors on President Donald Trump’s Venezuela policy. They included current and former State Department, National Intelligence Council, and National Security Council officials, along with Admiral Kurt Tidd...

US Military Threatens Syria-Like War In Venezuela, Awaits Trump’s Order

The United States is ready to attack Venezuela by the end of the year, according to U.S. Southern Commander Craig S. Faller. The U.S. is particularly concerned over growing Chinese, Russian and Cuban influence in its hemisphere. U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton stated in an interview that "President Trump is determined not to see Venezuela fall under the sway of foreign powers." He has a custom of refering to the racist Monroe Doctrine, which considers Latin America to be the U.S. own backyard where it can do as it pleases.

America’s Coup Efforts In Venezuela Enter Frightening New Phase

The United States is taking illegal and dangerous actions to execute regime change in Venezuela. In January, Juan Guaidó declared himself “interim president,” in a strategy orchestrated by the United States to seize power from President Nicolás Maduro. In March, Guaidó announced that “Operation Freedom,” an organization established to overthrow the Maduro government, would take certain “tactical actions” beginning on April 6. Part of the plan anticipates that the Venezuelan military will turn against Maduro.
