Student after student on Wednesday took to the podium at a public board meeting of the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to deliver a unified message against efforts by Mayor Rahm Emanuel which they say are systematically dismantling the public education in the city. This board has failed." –Ross Floyd, student Their immediate demand: Listen to us.

A video showing the arc of protests in Istanbul (so far). The video was made by Ron Wiles, which includes Jenna Pope's photos from Turkey, and the song that was composed by Klavierkunst (Davide Martello) while he had his piano in Taksim Square. The combination of beautiful music and photos tells the story of the peaceful, nonviolent resistance movement and the violent response by the government of Turkey.

Video: Snowden Has No Plans To Leave Russia

Former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden has no plans to leave Russia soon and does not rule out eventually applying for citizenship, a lawyer helping the American with his bid for temporary asylum in Russia said on Wednesday. Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena said Snowden believed it would be unsafe to try to travel to Latin America soon because of U.S. efforts to return him to the United States to face espionage charges. Putin described Snowden as akin to an "unwanted Christmas card."

Video: Drone Crash Closes Florida Highway

A remote stretch of a Florida Panhandle highway is closed after an Air Force drone crashed near the area. Tyndall Air Force Base says the QF-4 drone crashed on takeoff early Wednesday. No one was injured in the crash. The Air Force closed Highway 98 west of Panama City and east of Mexico Beach because of fires from the crash. Officials say the drone has a limited, 24-hour battery life and will be inactive after the battery is depleted. Officials say the stretch of highway could remain closed for up to 24 hours.

Video: A Final Warning From George Orwell

Here is George Orwell's final warning, as usual he resonates with the realities of the day. "George Orwell -- A Life in Pictures" uses a bold and original approach to put him on the screen. Chris Langham plays the writer and every word he speaks is as written by Orwell himself. But the pictures are all 'invented' -- a specially created 'archive' because there's not a single frame of archive footage of Orwell in existence. Not even one word or one of his trademark hacking coughs on recorded audio. All that is left is one oil painting and a couple of hundred photographs. By bringing to life his extraordinary treasure trove of writing - nine books and some eight thousand pages of journalism, essays, diaries and letters -- the film creates a unique dramatised biography of Orwell.

Video: White Privilege: Innocent, Trayvon Martin: Guilty

I can't say I was surprised at the verdict. Because, to apply the famous words of George Zimmerman, these assholes always get away. There is a lot of blame to go around for the fact that there is no Justice for Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17- year old African American kid who was profiled, hunted, and killed. High on the list of what killed Trayvon and what allowed his murderer to go free is the white privilege and systems of racism and oppression that this country was built upon and executes (pun intended) with full force, in a slightly more nuanced form, today.

Video: Investigate Michael Hastings’ Death

Abby Martin, of RT’s Breaking the Set, keeps the focus on the strange death of award winning journalist Michael Hastings. There are lots of unanswered questions about his strange automobile crash. There needs to be an investigation into the crash of his automobile; materials related to the crash -- including the black box from the automobile -- need to be made available for an independent investigation. Abby Martin takes a closer look at the death with interviews with Michael's close friend, Joe Biggs, who suspects his death was not an accident, and Kimberly Dvorak, an investigative journalist who has been conducting an investigation into the anomalies despite stonewalling from the LAPD.

Video: Are Intelligence Agencies Running the Government through Blackmail?

Abby Martin, of RT's Breaking the Set,  talks to Russell Tice, former intelligence analyst and original NSA whistleblower, about how the recent NSA scandal only scratches the surface of a massive surveillance apparatus. Citing specific targets, he saw spying orders that included former senators Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama. He raises the question -- are the intelligence agencies spying on government officials in order to control the government? Are the blackmailing officials?  Why is the intelligence budget not part of the sequester?

Video: Greenwald & Chomsky Say Rule of Law Not Working

Former constitutional rights lawyer Glenn Greenwald contends that the United States has a two-tiered judicial system, one for the "haves" and one for the "have-nots." Mr. Greenwald presents his argument by tracing the evolution of judicial inequality, from President Richard Nixon's pardon for the Watergate scandal to what the author deems were economic and political crimes committed during the George W. Bush administration. The author posits that both political parties and the media are culpable for creating an unequal judicial system. Glenn Greenwald presented his thoughts in conversation with political activist Noam Chomsky. They also responded to questions from members of the audience. This was a special event of the Harvard Book Store, held at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Video: The Edward Snowden Short Film From Hong Kong

We are a band of independent and amateur filmmakers in Hong Kong who were both excited and puzzled as to why Snowden chose to come to Hong Kong. While nearly every media outlet wanted to get their hands on him, we decided to produce a short fictional video to depict his experience in HK, and how it would have affected certain parties: Namely, the CIA contingent based in HK who would be tasked to find Snowden. The Hong Kong Police who would be stuck in between the US and China. And the journalists who want to get the scoop. It was also important for us not to 'twist' Snowden's character. We really knew little about him. Although he is a central character, he is not the most prominent. It is more about the maelstrom of events surrounding him.
