Interns Accuse Congress Of Suppressing Calls For Cease-Fire

Congressional interns and fellows released a letter on Monday accusing Congress of having “suppressed and ignored” a tidal wave of constituent support for a permanent cease-fire in the Israel-Gaza conflict. More than 140 interns and fellows signed the letter, and 71 disclosed the number of calls and emails in support of a cease-fire that their offices have recorded. Those 71 offices (out of the total of 535) have received a total of 693,170 messages supporting a cease-fire since Israel’s bombing of the Gaza Strip began in early October. But in spite of constituents’ outreach, most senators and representatives have refused to publicly support a cease-fire.

UNGA Discusses Gaza Ceasefire After US Veto In Security Council

The United Nation General Assembly is meeting on Tuesday, December 12 in an emergency session to discuss the Israeli war in Gaza. This is after Egypt and Mauritania jointly invoked the rarely-used resolution 377 A (V) on Monday. The move follows the failure of the UN Security Council last week to adopt a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza due to a US veto. The Uniting for Peace resolution was invoked by Egypt as the chair of the Arab group in the UN and Mauritania as the chair of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The resolution was first adopted by the General Assembly in November 1950 during the Korean War making itself an alternative platform to work for peace in case the permanent members of the Security Council fail to execute the fundamental task of the international body.

Israeli Regime Turns To Western Mercenary Groups To Back Genocide

Apart from the lavish military aid offered by the United States and Europe, the Israeli military is turning to Western mercenary groups in its genocidal war against the Gaza Strip. In a recent interview with Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Pedro Diaz Flores, a notorious Spanish mercenary, revealed that the Israeli regime is recruiting Private Military Companies (PMCs) to achieve its interests in the besieged territory. He revealed that “many” mercenary groups have joined Israel’s army, which pays them “very well.” “So I came for the economy, for money. They pay very well, they offer good equipment and the work is calm."

Gaza And Confronting Power

The events of the past seven days are sobering no matter where you look. The Israelis’ daily attacks in southern Gaza, after telling Gazans in the north to seek refuge there, strips bare the apartheid state’s intent to ethnic-cleanse the Gaza Strip and scatter to the winds those of its people who survive. Is there some word other than “genocide” we should use to name this horror, this stain upon the consciences of everyone who does not raise a voice against it? It is also clear as of last week that the Biden regime’s amoral support for the Israelis’ bloodlust in Gaza is destabilizing America and hastening the collapse from within that this nation has feared since it declared itself the United States.

The United States Is Losing Allies On Gaza

The United States is facing growing domestic and international opposition to its support for the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Defying the U.S. and Israel, the U.N. General Assembly voted on Tuesday, 153 nations in favor with 10 against, and 23 abstentions for an immediate end to the killing. Most significantly, the vote on Tuesday showed a slew of U.S. allies abandoning Washington on Gaza. It is the second time in the past six weeks that the Assembly voted for a permanent ceasefire.  On Oct. 27, the vote was 120 in favor, 14 against and 45 abstentions. After witnessing six more weeks of genocide, 33 more nations — including several who almost always automatically side with the U.S. — this time evidently had enough and voted against Washington and in favor of an immediate halt to the slaughter.

Forcible Transfer Of 85% Of Gazans Is A Crime Against Humanity

Since the October 7 attacks by Hamas that killed 1,200 people in Israel, the Israeli occupying forces have killed more than 17,000 Palestinians, over 7,000 of them children, and wounded more than 46,000. Close to 1.9 million people — about 85 percent of Gaza’s population — have been forced to flee their homes and squeeze into roughly one-third of the Gaza Strip. The vast majority of people in Gaza have been displaced and are on the verge of starvation. On October 13, in anticipation of its ground invasion into Gaza, Israel ordered 1.1 million Palestinians in northern Gaza to evacuate to the south within 24 hours.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 66: Israel Attacks Ambulances, Medics

International medical groups are becoming increasingly concerned about Israel’s full-on attacks against healthcare as the military continues targeting paramedics, ambulances, patients, and doctors. On Sunday, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported the Israeli military opening fire on an ambulance carrying critically wounded patients as well as obstructing, detaining, and abusing paramedics. The incident took place on Monday morning as six PRCS ambulances, escorted by the United Nations (UN), evacuated 11 critical patients from Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City to a hospital in the besieged enclave.

UN General Assembly To Vote On Emergency Gaza Resolution

The UN General Assembly (UNGA) president said on social media on 11 December that the 10th Emergency Special Session of the UN will be resumed on Tuesday, 12 December. UNGA President Dennis Francis wrote in a letter addressed to all permanent UN representatives and observer members that he received a letter from representatives of Egypt and Mauritania “requesting the resumption of the tenth emergency special session of the General Assembly as rapidly as possible.” Egypt and Mauritania’s representatives made their request for an emergency meeting on a draft resolution concerning Gaza after the US vetoed a draft resolution by the UAE on 8 December, the nation’s third use of its veto power during the current war on Gaza.

Paris Protests For Gaza Despite Repression

The open repression of Palestine solidarity protests in Paris over the last months has been unprecedented and violent. Although there have been some alarms ringing on this reality of state violence in France, including a statement by Amnesty International, it is important for all who witnessed this new wave of street-level suppression to speak out. I am writing this text after having been present at a number of recent Palestine solidarity actions in Paris. As mass protests demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza continue around the world, French authorities are systematically deploying police forces to silence demonstrations calling for justice in Palestine.

US Blocks Gaza Peace Proposal At UN For Third Time, Holds World Hostage

The United States has used its veto power in the United Nations Security Council three times in less than two months to kill resolutions calling for peace in Gaza. Meanwhile, Washington is sending billions of dollars worth of weapons to Israel, directly assisting the country as it commits war crimes against Palestinian civilians. On December 8, the Security Council voted on a resolution that called for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” and the unconditional release of all hostages. The United States was the only country on the 15-member council that voted against the measure.

The Evil Israel Does Is The Evil Israel Gets

I knew Dr. Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, the co-founder of Hamas, along with Sheikh Ahmed Ismail Yassin. Al-Rantisi’s family were expelled to the Gaza Strip by Zionist militias from historic Palestine during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. He did not fit the demonized image of a Hamas leader. He was a soft spoken, articulate and highly educated pediatrician who had graduated first in his class at Egypt’s Alexandria University. As a nine-year-old boy, he witnessed executions in Khan Younis of 275 Palestinian men and boys, including his uncle, when Israel briefly occupied the Gaza Strip in 1956, the subject of Joe Sacco’s magisterial book Footnotes in Gaza.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 63: Israeli Army Strips, Blindfolds Men

Two months on, it is becoming more and more difficult to summarize in an article the sheer scope of violence, war crimes, and human rights violations being committed in Gaza in the span of a single day. Horrifying images have emerged of Palestinian men stripped down to their underwear, blindfolded, handcuffed, and made to line up kneeling in the streets or in non descript lots. Struggling to come up with any credible proof of military success in Gaza besides the slaughter of civilians, Israeli forces have claimed that the men are Hamas fighters who surrendered.

Witnessing The Gaza Genocide And Dealing With Despair

Israel's genocidal assault on the civilian population of Gaza is not being carried out by carpet bombing alone. Electricity and water have been cut off. Desperately needed food, water and medical supplies are not being allowed in. Israel has deployed starvation as a weapon of war. Hundreds of big-rig trucks are lined up at the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, waiting to deliver their cargoes of food, water, medicine, and basic necessities. This is the southern Gaza border, which is supposed to be controlled by Egypt. Israel has bombed the Gaza side of the border, however, and Egypt, a military dictatorship that relies heavily on U.S. military aid, has been slow to open its border.

Role Of US Menwith Hill NSA Base And The United Kingdom In Gaza

Every Tuesday at 6pm, rain or shine, a small group of protestors stand outside a U.S. base in North Yorkshire with banners and flags. Members and supporters of the Menwith Hill Accountability Campaign (MHAC) are there to protest at the unaccountable and highly secret activities that go on inside the U.S. spy base nominally called ‘RAF’ Menwith Hill but run by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA). In recent weeks the focus has been on the UK’s role in events in Gaza. Just how is the UK government involved in Gaza? According to the Campaign Against the Arms Trade, the UK has consistently sold arms to Israel since 1967.
