Spain To Submit ICC Complaint Against Israel Over Attack On Flotilla

Spain’s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska announced on 7 October that Madrid will submit a formal complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over Israel’s kidnapping of hundreds of activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters. Grande-Marlaska said any assault on civilians in international waters constitutes an act of unlawful detention under both Spanish and international law. On Sunday, 29 Spanish activists who were part of the flotilla landed in Madrid after being detained by Israeli forces in international waters. Many of the activists were subjected to “physical and psychological ill-treatment” while in detention.

Israeli PM Gets A New York Welcome Outside The United Nations

As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to a half-empty room at the UN General Assembly, thousands of protesters were gathered in Times Square to condemn his presence in New York City. Netanyahu was issued an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in November 2024, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Gaza since October 2023. All members of the ICC, which includes the United States, are legally obliged to enforce the warrants, though Hungary, an Israeli ally, has officially begun the process of withdrawal from the ICC. The Israeli prime minister gave a combative speech to a nearly empty UN General Assembly hall on Friday, where he portrayed himself as the standard-bearer of mainstream Israel in rejecting the creation of a Palestinian state and denouncing Israel's genocide in Gaza as “a joke”.

AES Countries Exit ICC, Denounce It As Instrument Of Neo-Colonial Repression

The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) announced its immediate withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday, condemning it as a tool of “imperialism”, silent about the worst crimes by the West and its allies while selectively pursuing its opponents. Ratifying the Rome Statute in the early 2000s, its three member countries – Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger – have been members of the ICC for over three decades. “However, over time, they have come to observe that this jurisdiction has transformed into an instrument of neo-colonial repression in the hands of imperialism, thereby becoming the global example of selective justice,” states the AES communique on September 22.

Report Reveals Israel’s Intimidation Campaign Against ICC Chief

An investigative report has uncovered an intensifying intimidation campaign targeting British ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, revealing extraordinary details of threats and warnings aimed at forcing him to drop the probe into Israeli war crimes in Gaza. The report published by the Middle East Eye (MEE) on Friday revealed that Khan has been warned to withdraw arrest warrants for the Israeli regime’s leadership over the occupying entity’s genocidal war crimes in Gaza, or he and the top tribunal would be “destroyed.” According to the report, the warning was delivered in May to Khan by Nicholas Kaufman, a British-Israeli defense lawyer linked to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s adviser, during a meeting with Khan and his wife, Shyamala Alagendra, at a hotel in The Hague.

Are We Witnessing The Collapse Of International Law?

These past thirty years, the proponents of the Unipolar World have proceeded to methodically dismantle the norms, principles and diplomatic usages to such an extent that contemporary international relations are characterized by social media postings. First, UN resolutions have been construed to provide a veneer of legality to wars of choice against UN Member-States such as Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen. These gross violations of AA 2(4) of the UN Charter proceeded out of a deliberate intent to shirk the core principles of the UN Charter such as respect for national sovereignty and the peaceful resolution of international disputes.

The Sarajevo Declaration Of The Gaza Tribunal

We, the members of the Gaza Tribunal, having gathered in Sarajevo from 26 to 29 May 2025, declare our collective moral outrage at the continuing genocide in Palestine, our solidarity with the people of Palestine, and our commitment to working with partners across global civil society to end the genocide and to ensure accountability for perpetrators and enablers, redress for victims and survivors, the building of a more just international order, and a free Palestine. We condemn the Israeli regime, its perpetration of genocide, and its decades-long policies and practices of settler colonialism, ethno-supremacism, apartheid, racial segregation, persecution, unlawful settlements...

US Protects Israel As Netanyahu Vows To ‘Take Over’ Gaza

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has admitted that Israel’s goal is to colonize Gaza. “We will take control of all the territory of the [Gaza] Strip”, Netanyahu pledged on 19 May. Israel had agreed to a ceasefire in January, but unilaterally violated the agreement in March and restarted its brutal war on Gaza. Donald Trump personally gave Israel the green light to break the truce, according to Israeli officials. Israel’s extreme-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a member of the Israeli security cabinet and Netanyahu ally, boasted that the IDF is “destroying everything left in the Gaza Strip”, and that “the army is leaving no stone unturned”, reported the top Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Orbán Faces ICC Investigation After Refusing To Arrest Netanyahu

In a shameless attempt to undermine international accountability for accused war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hungarian President Viktor Orbán graciously hosted the architect of Israel’s 18-month genocide in Gaza on April 3. The International Criminal Court (ICC) is now formally investigating Hungary’s blatant refusal to fulfill its legal obligation to arrest Netanyahu and send him to The Hague. States parties to the Rome Statute have a duty to cooperate with the court and facilitate the arrest of any ICC suspect who enters their territory. Although Orbán announced Hungary’s withdrawal from the statute on April 3, it does not take effect for one year.

ICC Asked To Investigate Biden And Blinken Over War Crimes Allegations

For the first time ever, a US-based organization has formally asked the International Criminal Court to investigate a former US president for possible complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity. The 172-page request submitted by the Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) alleges several figures – including former President Biden, former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin – aided and abetted Israeli war crimes in Gaza. “This case might face political pushback, but that doesn’t change the message it sends: impunity isn’t a given. If the rule of law is supposed to mean anything, it has to apply across the board – not just to our enemies, but to our friends, and yes, to ourselves,” war crimes prosecutor and DAWN board member Reed Brody told Zeteo.

The United Kingdom Must Push Back Against Trump’s ICC Plan

Donald Trump has signed an executive order that will sanction the International Criminal Court (ICC), placing financial and visa sanctions on individuals and their immediate family who assist ICC investigations against Israelis and Americans. The Executive Order comes after last week’s efforts to pass a bill entitled the ‘Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act’ in Congress. The bill hit a stumbling block when it received 54 votes in favour and 45 against, falling short of the 60 votes required for it to go ahead to a final vote. Instead, Trump has issued an Executive Order to implement the sanctions.

Trump Reiterates Plan To Remove Palestinians From Gaza

On Tuesday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first foreign leader to meet Donald Trump in The White House during his second term. The meeting took place amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations between the Israeli government and Hamas. Speaking with reporters after the meeting, Trump made the stunning announcement that the United States would try to take over Gaza. “The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too,” he said. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site. Level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings. Level it out.”

US Senate To Vote On Sanctions Against ICC Over Israel War Crimes Warrants

The US Senate is set to begin voting on Tuesday on a bill that would impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), according to a report by The Washington Post. The move has reportedly sparked concerns among some prominent European allies who warn it could undermine international law. “U.S. lawmakers are moving to pass a law that some of Washington’s top European allies fear will ‘cripple’ the world’s preeminent international court, enable war criminals to act with impunity, and degrade the West’s moral authority,” the Washington Post reported.

120 Human Rights Groups Accuse US Of Shielding Israeli War Criminals

A coalition of 120 international human rights organizations and activists has accused the United States of shielding Israeli war criminals by obstructing the enforcement of International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants. This condemnation follows the U.S. vote to impose sanctions on the ICC, undermining its ability to pursue justice against Israeli occupation leaders accused of war crimes. The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the "Anti-ICC Law," a controversial bill that, if ratified, would penalize any foreign entity investigating or prosecuting U.S. citizens or citizens of allied states, including Israel.

Poland To ‘Shield’ Netanyahu From ICC Arrest Warrant During Visit

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on 9 January that his government would shield Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, from possible arrest on war crimes charges ahead of a visit to Poland this month to commemorate the liberation of Auschwitz. Netanyahu faces an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged war crimes in Gaza, including seeking to starve Palestinians to death by imposing a total blockade on the strip. The ICC also issued a warrant for former defense minister Yoav Gallant on the same charges.

UN Experts Slam US Bill Sanctioning International Criminal Court

A group of UN human rights experts is urging the U.S. Senate to block a bill that seeks to punish the International Criminal Court (ICC) and people affiliated with it after the body issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, condemning the bill as “dangerous” and against international law. “It is shocking to see a country that considers itself a champion of the rule of law trying to stymie the actions of an independent and impartial tribunal set up by the international community, to thwart accountability,” the four experts said in a statement on Friday.
