Xi Jinping Proposes A New Global Governance Framework At SCO Summit

The 25th Heads of State Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) concluded in Tianjin, China, on Monday, September 1, with the adoption of the Tianjin declaration, which calls for a peaceful and equitable global governance and increased South-South cooperation. The summit highlighted the “fluid and chaotic global situation” created due to the unilateral actions of some countries in the West. It noted that the fast changing global scenario has a profound effect on all aspects of life. In this context, the SCO adopted a strategy for the development of the block in the next 10 years, reiterating its faith in international law and the UN charter.

Boston: People’s Hunger Strike In Solidarity With Palestine Begins

As the second year anniversary of Israel’s U.S-backed genocide approaches and the complete blockade to food, medicine and other humanitarian aid continues, the people of Gaza face forced end stage starvation. Our medical colleagues in Gaza are requiring IV fluids to get through the day due to their own malnutrition. Israel has announced a planned invasion of Gaza City and the forced relocation of Palestinians is imminent. Our colleagues in Palestine are now calling for an international hunger strike as a means of solidarity and a strategy to escalate political pressure to end the genocide. This is a response to that call, before it is too late.

‘It’s Up To All Of Us’: Doctor Shares Why He Is On Global Sumud Flotilla

I’m a doctor trained in the UK, and for most of the past decade I’ve worked on and off in the international medical humanitarian sector with various organizations. During that time, I’ve also maintained a strong interest in health justice and solidarity movements, and I’ve always followed the work of the People’s Health Movement (PHM). I foremost came to connect with the Global Sumud Flotilla, I guess, because I worked in Gaza during the genocide. I spent about two and a half months there as an emergency doctor, and what I witnessed made it very clear how limited humanitarianism and the liberal political order really are. It’s clear in Gaza, as it should be in many other parts of the world, that we can’t rely on existing political or legal systems to uphold justice, fairness, or equality. Unfortunately, that responsibility often falls to ordinary folks.

Global Sumud Flotilla Heads Back To Port Due To Inclement Weather

The Global Sumud Flotilla, dubbed the largest in history, was forced back to Barcelona on 1 September after storms struck Catalonia, with organizers saying the decision was taken to prioritize safety as winds reached over 56 kilometers per hour. The convoy is comprised of around 20 boats with participants from 44 countries and is reportedly carrying over 300 tons of aid to help relieve the starving people of Gaza, with additional vessels expected to join the expedition in Tunis and Sicily. The fleet departed Barcelona a day earlier under the cheers of thousands of supporters who gathered at the departure point, in an effort to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, but turned back fearing that the smaller vessels could not withstand the storm.

Why Arab Campaigns To Boycott Israel Aren’t Working

Under the urgency of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, many of the public tactics adopted by grassroots Arab movements to pressure their governments to boycott Israel and reflect the will of their people simply aren’t working. After nearly two years of genocide, the conventional tools of the Arab boycott campaign are hitting a wall. This failure is not only about tactics — it is also about a deeper misreading of where the centers of power lie in Arab countries. This has led to the inability to pressure governments into taking action. Power is no longer centralized in a colonial regime that directly governs us, but is rather scattered and diffused everywhere. But if we understand hegemonic power in this way, then how can we channel our energies strategically into where the boycott movement can have a larger impact?

Sumud, The Largest Flotilla To Sail For Gaza, Prepares To Set Out

Barcelona, Spain – Volunteers from across the world have come together in the main hall of one of Spain’s oldest labour unions, the UGT – once a registration centre for international volunteers who came to Spain to fight fascism during the Spanish Civil War. Now it has trained the nonviolent international volunteers – Palestine supporters, activists, journalists and politicians – who will sail on the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza on Sunday. “We are not heroes. We are not the story. The story is the people of Gaza,” organiser Thiago Avila, a lifelong activist for Palestine and environmental justice, told the crowds gathered for a news conference before the ships set sail. Their goal is to deliver humanitarian aid, which is the flotilla’s only cargo, and open a humanitarian corridor for Palestinians facing being starved and killed by Israel.

European Dockworkers And Medics To Join Global Sumud Flotilla

Delegations from at least 17 European countries are preparing to join the Global Sumud Flotilla, which will set sail on Sunday, August 31, in a new attempt to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza. Many of the crew members taking part in this effort to deliver urgently needed supplies have already been active in Palestine solidarity campaigns in their own countries over the past years. For them, joining the flotilla is a logical step in confronting Israel’s ongoing genocide. Belgian physician Hanne Bosselaers, active with Medics for the People (MPLP–GVHV) and the People’s Health Movement (PHM), emphasized that it is impossible to remain idle while a genocide unfolds in Palestine. Like other PHM members who will also be on board, including British emergency doctor James Smith and Moroccan health activist Aziz Rhali, Bosselaers has long worked with Palestinian health organizations and highlighted the resilience and determination of Gaza’s health workers.

Workers’ Intifada Against Microsoft

As the United Nations’ world food crisis authority finally declared a famine in Gaza, direct action demonstrators protested war profiteer Microsoft, whose technology is used to aid the U.S./Israeli war, which is committing genocide in Gaza. After months of protests in Seattle, on Aug. 20 and 21 worker-led activists took the struggle to Microsoft’s vast campus in Redmond, Washington, where No Azure for Apartheid and Bilyad Seattle exposed Microsoft’s complicity. On Aug. 20, around 35 current and former Microsoft workers and solidarity activists set up a protest encampment on the East Campus Plaza of Microsoft. They claimed it as the Martyred Palestinian Children’s Plaza. They left when Microsoft asked them to leave, but returned the next day and declared their occupation is not going anywhere!

Gaza: Airstrikes, Explosive Vehicles, Bulldozers Cause ‘Insane’ Destruction

Ahead of its planned full-scale invasion of Gaza City, the Israeli army is causing widespread destruction in the Strip’s largest urban center, forcing residents to evacuate ahead of its publicly declared start date: October 7. Recent reports from eyewitnesses and the Gaza Civil Defense show that the Israeli army has been using retrofitted armored personnel carriers (APCs) that are sent into dense population centers, including neighborhoods and displacement centers, before they are remotely detonated. The attacks continue alongside an extensive bulldozing operation in the city and constant aerial bombardment. Between August 12 and August 18, the Israeli army destroyed over 400 buildings in the Zaytoun neighborhood and launched a limited ground incursion at its edges.

The Global Sumud Flotilla

In July 2025, a new international maritime initiative was launched: the Global Sumud Flotilla. It was formed by four major coalitions: the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Maghreb Sumud Convoy, and the Southeast Asian Nusantara Sumud Initiative. The Global Sumud Flotilla is set to depart on August 31, 2025. Its goal is clear: to break Israel’s illegal blockade on Gaza, to deliver urgent humanitarian aid, and to expose the genocidal war waged on Palestinians.  The flotilla is composed of dozens of small civilian vessels carrying activists, parliamentarians, doctors, and trade unionists, alongside humanitarian cargo.

Iran Demands Concrete International Action To End Israel’s Genocide

Abbas Araghchi, Iranian foreign minister, called for more concrete collective action against Israel, asserting that mere verbal condemnations are no longer enough to prevent its “insatiable” Zionist ambitions to ethnically cleanse Palestinians and expand their occupation in the region. Araghchi reiterated that the Israeli war in Gaza “is not merely a fleeting military conflict or an ordinary humanitarian crisis: it is a systematic, full fledged genocide explicitly intended to achieve ethnic cleansing amid the complicit silence of the US and the West more broadly.” Citing the daily killing of Palestinians seeking humanitarian aid, Araghchi said that Israel has “turned hunger and famine into a new tool of genocide” and “food distribution centers into death traps for hungry women and children”, claiming that the war and genocide in Gaza is amongst the “darkest human tragedies of the modern era”.

Gaza Is The Compass: Second Annual People’s Conference For Palestine

For two years, Gaza has been a moral and political compass that has guided so many towards true liberation. Israel, with full US backing and support, is starving 2 million Palestinians, carrying out a plan for mass displacement and ethnic cleansing in both Gaza and the West Bank, and continuously bombing and shooting Palestinians with the number of martyrs rising daily. Israel’s brutality, though gruesome and with the ultimate price being paid by Palestinians in Gaza, resembles more the last thrashes of a dying beast, than it does a mighty force. Zionism itself is facing an existential crisis. Around the world, Israel’s murderous rampage has given it a spotlight for international scrutiny and has turned Zionism into a pariah among the world’s masses.

Australia: Tens Of Thousands Rally To Demand Sanctions On Israel

Tens of thousands of Australians rallied in more than 40 cities and towns on Sunday to protest Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, with participants calling for sanctions on Tel Aviv, local broadcaster SBS reported, Anadolu reports. Palestine Action Group organizers said the demonstrations aimed to pressure the federal government to sanction Israel and impose an arms embargo. Josh Lees, a rally organizer, estimated crowds of “about 40,000 here in Sydney, 50 or 60,000 in Melbourne, 10,000 in Hobart, thousands in Perth and Brisbane and everywhere else.” In Brisbane, police put the turnout at 10,000, while organizers claimed closer to 50,000.

Israel’s Assassination Of Memory

As Israel ticks off its list of Nazi-like atrocities against the Palestinians, including mass starvation, it prepares for yet another – the demolition of Gaza City, one of the oldest cities on Earth. Heavy engineering equipment and gigantic armored bulldozers are tearing down hundreds of heavily damaged buildings. Cement trucks are churning out concrete to fill tunnels. Israeli tanks and fighter jets pummel neighborhoods to drive Palestinians who remain in the ruins of the city to the south. It will take months to turn Gaza City into a parking lot. I have no doubt Israel will replicate the efficiency of the Nazi SS Gen. Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski, who oversaw the obliteration of Warsaw.

Halt On Medical Evacuations Is A Death Sentence For Palestinian Children

The U.S. State Department’s decision this weekend to halt all visitor visas for people from Gaza, which includes the medical-humanitarian visas that have brought injured children to American hospitals, will cost Palestinian lives. Officials say this process will be subject to a “full and thorough review”. For a child with infected burns or a deep trauma wound, a pause is a verdict on their life. The freeze did not arise from new intelligence or any novel identification of problems in the temporary visitor visa pathway. It followed a social-media panic with the circulation of mischaracterized videos of injured children arriving under the care of a U.S. nonprofit being labeled as a “security threat,” rhetoric amplified by political allies. The State Department then announced it was stopping visas while it re-examines procedures.
