VIDEO: Acronym TV Weekly Resistance Report 006

Mid-East Mission Creeping The horrific suffering of the Syrian people must end. The United States government should have our full support in doing what it can to help ease or end the suffering. However, granting President Obama authorization to wage war with Syria, (even if you call that war an intervention, a limited strike with no boots on the ground, or simply a “strong message”) will not end the suffering in Syria, it will increase it significantly. We look at the crisis, and the alternatives, from multiple points of view outside of the binary lose-lose choice President Obama has presented to Congress, the American people, and the global community.

Video: Call To Action From An American Who Sees Beyond War Propaganda

Now is the time. If we are going to prevent an illegal war in Syria we all must act today. Call Congress NOW -- 202-224-3121 -- and tell your representative (and as many others as you have the energy and time to call) No war against Syria. The video below is of a woman reacting to President Obama calling for war against Syria. The anger and frustration she feels toward the U.S. government, the oblivious nature of leadership that is ready to kill a never mentioned number of Syrians to send a message to Assad are feelings many Americans share, the willingness to ignore the rule of law in favor of the mass destruction and murder of war -- it just sickens many of us. Listen to her anger, share it and then take action.

Video: The Obama Syria Deception: Debunking The March To War

The United States is not on a humanitarian mission. Neither is it taking sides in a Syrian civil war. As horrific a dictator as Assad is, some of the rebel forces have direct links to Al-Qaeda and so are not so likely to advance US interests in the region were they to topple Assad. With that in mind, we will take a detailed look at the lies, hubris, and lack of vision in Obama’s Syria deception speech of August 31 in this special expanded edition of Acronym TV. The Nobel peace prize winning Obama has presented the American people and the world a binary argument: stand by and do nothing, or bomb, bomb, bomb. Diplomacy, for the most powerful nation in the world, is not on the table and that is the outrage that should have the American people ready to act, and move together as one nation to say without equivocation: no war with Syria.

Protesters Interrupt Hearing On War With Syria

Protesters were in attendance at the Senate Foreign Relations hearing today. As John Kerry and John McCain were hugging before the hearing, Tighe Barry spoke up at the beginning of the hearing urging no war on Syria. And, just before Secretary of State John Kerry testified, Medea Benjamin called out for no war, explaining the people of the United States do not want war, the UN General Secretary has said no to war and cruise missiles mean war. Both Tighe and Medea are with CODE PINK!

VIDEO: Poverty-Stricken Spanish Raid Store For School Supplies

Unemployment is at 35.8 percent in Andalusia, some 10 percent above the national average. An estimated four million people live in poverty, and 400,000 families have no-one in work and are not in receipt of any benefits. “The school year is about to begin and many parents have no money for school supplies. This a protest against the regional and national governments,” said Diego Canamero, from the Union of Andalusian Workers. One hundred trolley loads were stolen for distribution to the poorest families, and the media was alerted to be on hand when the action was explained to the angry supermarket manager, and the police, who arrived later.

VIDEO: Military Cancer

Class War Films tells the history of militarism in the US and how it will devour us as a cancer devours the body if it is not stopped: "You understand what a cancer is: a voracious wildly self-replicating rogue cell mass that feeds on and devours its host....The US military with its vast complex web of branches, agencies and bureaucracies is in socio-political terms a metastasized cancer run rampant in the American body politic and we Americans are dying of it. Not surprising. The core purpose of armies is to kill people. Every country that has ever had one claimed it was for self-defense, but all history has proved their function has never varied to kill people and appropriate their wealth."

I Have a Dream, a Blurred Vision

The 50th anniversary of the March on Washington—in which Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. made his famed “I Have a Dream” speech—has recently won renewed attention from various print and electronic media in the United States. But the more attention given to King’s extraordinary speech, the less we seem to know about King himself, the less aware we are about the serious challenges he was presenting, challenges that remain urgent and ignored to this very day. The opinion-makers prefer to treat Martin Luther King as an inspirational icon rather than a radical leader. He has been domesticated and sanitized. Today the real King probably would not be invited to the White House because he is too far left, too much the agitator. In 1967, he was becoming an increasingly serious problem for the defenders of privilege and profit. King came out against the Vietnam War that year, a fact that is seldom mentioned today.

Greenpeace performed the stunt as part of a larger protest against Shell’s plans to drill for oil in the Artic. Greenpeace activists were also seen at the event, unfurling a larger banner bearing the tagline “Arctic oil? Shell no!”

London: Hundreds Protest Possible Attack On Syria

With less than a day to go before MPs and peers were due to debate the government's proposals, a demonstration took place opposite the entrance to Downing Street. Several hundred people, ranging from teenagers to the elderly, held placards bearing slogans such as "Hands off Syria" and "Cut war, not welfare". Ann-Kristine WestwoodAnn-Kristine Westwood says the UK government and its allies have acted like terrorists Ann-Kristine Westwood, a grandmother from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, told the BBC: "I can't see what we've achieved in 10 years in Iraq or Afghanistan. And I'm convinced we are being sold another pup. "We can't afford schools, houses, teachers, nurses, but we buy as many bombs as we want. The people in this country can't afford another war." She added: "The mothers in Syria are going to be terrified. We are now the terrorists."

Operation Mockingbird, CIA Media Control Program

According to the Congress report published in 1976: "The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda. These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets." Senator Frank Church argued that misinforming the world cost American taxpayers an estimated $265 million a year.

No matter what the color is, no matter if you're Asian, Chinese, it doesn't matter, you should not be closing these schools without walking into them and seeing what is happening in these schools! EDUCATION IS OUR RIGHT, THAT IS WHY WE HAVE TO FIGHT! EDUCATION IS OUR RIGHT, THAT IS WHY WE HAVE TO FIGHT!
