How The US Sells Wars The Intelligence Doesn’t Support

The United States is building up its military assets, sparking fears of another regime change attempt against Venezuela—and this one could be far more deadly than the others. Citing an influx of Venezuelan drugs into the U.S., the Trump administration is rapidly building up its military forces, encircling the South American nation, one which has been in Washington’s crosshairs for over a quarter of a century. MintPress News explores Trump’s extraordinary claims and assesses the history of U.S. efforts to overthrow the Venezuelan government. The Trump administration is once again setting its sights on Venezuela. In recent weeks, President Trump deployed additional naval and air assets to the Caribbean, including seven warships, a submarine, and an amphibious assault ship, designed for maritime invasions.

Emergency Rally In Orlando Denounces Trump’s Attacks On Venezuela

Orlando, FL – On Friday, September 13, 20 activists held an emergency rally outside the Federal Courthouse in downtown Orlando to denounce the recent U.S. military attacks, and any future aggression, against Venezuela. The rally was organized by FRSO Orlando and co-sponsored by Orlando DSA, University of Central Florida Students for a Democratic Society, Orlando for Peace, and several other organizations. The event was in response to Donald Trump’s dangerous military escalations against Venezuela, including the deployment of U.S. warships into the Caribbean and a recent military strike against a Venezuelan boat that killed all eleven Venezuelan civilians on board. Trump’s government has also put a $50 million reward for the capture of the democratically-elected president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.

Venezuela Denounces US Navy For Illegal Boarding Of Fishing Boat

Venezuela reported that a US destroyer illegally boarded a Venezuelan fishing boat carrying nine fishermen and detained them for eight hours. According to the Venezuelan statement, issued on Saturday, September 13, the vessel was in Venezuelan waters, “48 nautical miles from Blanquilla Island.” The incident occurred on Friday, September 12, in Venezuela’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Under international law, an EEZ is a maritime area adjacent to a country’s territorial sea, extending up to 200 nautical miles from the baseline. The coastal state has sovereign rights to explore, utilize and preserve natural resources there, and has jurisdiction over economic and research activities in the region.

President Maduro Explains Venezuela’s Position On US Military Deployment

On Monday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro held a press conference with representatives of international media in which he analyzed the current geopolitical situation in the Caribbean. “There are still those who want to impose supremacism and view us from afar as they did in the era of colonization,” Maduro said, questioning the patterns of international domination. “The heirs of the old colonialisms and domination hold power and still view our nations with contempt and arrogance,” he emphasized, highlighting that global awareness against all forms of supremacism is awakening. “A global awareness is rising that will not allow, under any circumstances, the imposition of a new type of domination and colonialism, either in Our America or in the rest of the world.”

As War Ships Arrive; Defend Venezuela Against US Attack

On August 8, President Donald Trump declared that, on the basis of the discredited and fake “War on Drugs,” the U.S. reserved the option to engage in military action in any country, anywhere. In addition, Trump announced that he increased a bounty for the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro from $25 million to $50 million. Following these announcements, the Pentagon war machine moved into action and U.S. warships set sail for the Caribbean. The working class, anti-war, anti-imperialist movement and all movements for social justice and change in the United States have a responsibility to prepare for combating every U.S. war move. Today we must focus attention on the growing threat of a U.S. attack on Venezuela.

Colombia Labels US Military Ops ‘Aggression’ In Latin America

Through a message posted Sunday, August 10, on social media, Colombian President Gustavo Petro reaffirmed his strong support for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. This followed recent threats from the Trump administration against the Venezuelan government, which is trying to link Maduro with drug trafficking, and the discovery by Bolivarian authorities of arsenals of weapons belonging to terrorist groups linked to the extreme right. Petro emphatically declared that “Colombia and Venezuela are the same people, the same flag, the same history.” He emphasized that “any military operation that is not approved by our sister countries is an aggression against Latin America and the Caribbean.”
