Axis of Resistance

For First Time Bahraini Resistance Launches Attack On Israel

For the first time since the start of the war, the Islamic Resistance in Bahrain has declared its responsibility for an attack on an Israeli target in the Eilat region, in southern Israel. This is the first time that a Bahraini-based group takes action as part of growing regional solidarity with Gaza.  The Ashtar Brigades said that they have hit the Israeli target using drones, and that their action was done in solidarity with “the patient people in resisting Gaza”. The Bahraini Brigades said in a statement on Thursday that its target was  the headquarters of the “company responsible for ground transportation in the Zionist entity (Trucknet)”.

The Axis Of Resistance Exposing The Functionaries Of Imperialism

Before the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on October 7th, developments in southwestern Asia were progressing in a reactionary fashion, with a number of Arab states normalizing relations with the zionist entity, including Saudi Arabia, whose actions were more furtive. For example, in July 2022, Saudi Arabia began allowing the zionist entity’s airplanes to use Saudi airspace, something the Biden White House called  a “historic decision.” Yet, the resistance in Gaza has unleashed a progression of history that has unexpectedly shifted the fragile dynamics of a region entangled in Western imperialism.

Israel Airstrike ‘Flattens’ Iranian Consulate In Damascus

Israeli airstrikes destroyed the Iranian consulate in Damascus on 1 April, killing and injuring several Iranian diplomats in what is viewed as a significant escalation of the regional war between Israel and the Axis of Resistance. "Around 17:00 this afternoon, the 'Israeli' enemy launched an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting the Iranian consulate building in Damascus. Our air defenses confronted the enemy's missiles, downing some of them," the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced Monday.

Behind The Scenes: Ansar Allah’s Operations Aboard Galaxy Leader Ship

It was a daring raid that galvanized the world. These pivotal moments unfolded when Yemen’s Ansarrallah, recognized in the West as the Houthis, intercepted the Galaxy Leader, an Israeli-owned cargo vessel sailing through the Red Sea. Donning traditional Yemeni attire and armed with their characteristic daggers, Ansarrallah boldly confronted Israel while neighboring Arab nations of Palestine offered only hollow words of solidarity. Since November, Yemen, the poorest country in the Middle East, has enforced a blockade on vessels either wholly or partially owned by Israel.

The Revenge To Come

The scenes of Gaza’s genocide will shape generations to come, and Joe Biden has ensured that current and future generations will blame the U.S. for this war as much as they will blame Israel. The U.S. government openly admits helping the Israeli government in executing its genocidal war. The U.S. will continue in its unconditional support for Israeli genocide, and the Biden administration has been a full partner while frequently feigning concern for the “humanitarian situation” in Gaza, as if Palestinians are dying from a devastating plague.

The Axis Of Resistance: Like Seeds In The Soil

While many articles written on Al Mayadeen and other platforms have exposed and highlighted the brutality of the Zionist occupiers and their American masters, I want to take this opportunity to expose the humanity and fraternal conduct of members of the Axis of Resistance throughout the history of this network of organizations seeking to liberate West Asia. It came to me to write this as I read Aurelie Daher’s masterful history book: Hezbollah: Mobilisation and Power. In this book, Daher shows that the first steps of resistance in Lebanon were not conducting military operations against the Zionists, but building bonds with the masses.

Demystifying Iran And The ‘Resistance Axis’

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has unleashed a low-grade regional war that is gradually escalating towards what could become an all-out conflict. The central players in this simmering showdown are the members of the informal Resistance Axis, which include Hezbollah in Lebanon, a number of armed Palestinian groups including Hamas, the Syrian and Iranian governments, the Houthis or Ansarallah in Yemen, and Iraq’s armed Popular Mobilization Forces. Numerous strikes against Israeli and US military and commercial targets have already been carried out by these groups across the region, from US military bases in Iraq to Israel-linked commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

Southern Lebanon Stands With Resistance Despite Israeli Terrorism

The principles of the people of southern Lebanon remain unchanged since the 90s when it comes to the Resistance, as they stand in the face of Israeli terrorism and declare their unwavering support for the Resistance. Numerous villages in southern Lebanon mourned in early February more than a dozen civilian martyrs who were killed by the Israeli occupation. There was also a large number of casualties, including 14 people who were injured in two Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Ghazieh area (south of Sidon). Three days earlier, the towns of Nabatiyeh and al-Sawaneh buried 10 martyrs in a magnificent procession.

Axis Of Resistance: From Donbass To Gaza

During my recent vertiginous journey in Donbass tracking Orthodox Christian battalions defending their land, Novorossiya, it became starkly evident that the resistance in these newly liberated Russian republics is fighting much the same battle as their counterparts in West Asia. Nearly 10 years after Maidan in Kiev, and two years after the start of Russia's Special Military Operation (SMO) in Ukraine, the resolve of the resistance has only deepened. It’s impossible to do full justice to the strength, resilience, and faith of the people of Donbass, who stand on the front line of a US proxy war against Russia.

‘Swarming’ The United States In West Asia, Until It Folds

Deterrence in defense is a military strategy where one power uses the threat of reprisal to preclude attack from an adversary, while maintaining at the same time the freedom of action and flexibility to respond to the full spectrum of challenges. In this realm, the Lebanese resistance, Hezbollah, is an outstanding example. Hezbollah’s clarity of purpose in establishing and strictly maintaining ground rules that deter Israeli military aggression has set a high regional bar. Today, its West Asian allies have adopted similar strategies, which have multiplied in the context of the war in Gaza.

Yemen: An Indomitable People – Part Two

The transnational mainstream media have planted the narrative that Ansarallah act under the influence of the Iranian government. While neither Iran nor Ansarallah have denied being part of an axis of resistance against imperialism, colonialism and Zionism, an axis that also incorporates political forces from Lebanon, Syria, Bahrain, and Palestine itself, simplifying the equation to a relationship of “subordination” is both superficial and banal, given the Yemeni people’s own history of struggle. In West Asia, the growing aggressiveness of “Israel” and the interventionist presence of the United States have been polarizing the political situation.

Israeli Air Strike In Syria Kills Top Iranian Military Adviser

An Israeli air strike outside the Syrian capital of Damascus has killed a senior adviser in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to reports from Iranian state media. Sayyed Razi Mousavi, one of the top IRGC commanders in Syria, was killed on Monday. He was responsible for coordinating the military alliance between Syria and Iran, an important part of Iran’s regional network of allies and proxies known as the “Axis of Resistance”. Mousavi “was killed during an attack by the Zionist regime a few hours ago in Zeinabiyah district in the suburbs of Damascus,” Iran’s official IRNA news agency reported, using a different name for Sayyida Zeinab south of the Syrian capital.

Regional Resistance To War On Gaza Continues

The Israeli war in Gaza has continued to invite strong responses from resistance forces all across the West Asian region. Militias in the region have targeted both Israel and its strongest backer, the US. On Wednesday, December 6, the Ansar Allah (Houthi)-backed government in Yemen claimed that its army fired missiles targeting Israel’s southern Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) city and said it would continue its operations until the Israeli war on Gaza is stopped. Media reports confirmed that sirens went off across Eilat city following the Houthi attacks on Wednesday. However, it claimed that using its Arrow air defense, the Israeli military was able to intercept the missile before it could enter the country’s air space.

Resistance Regionalizes As Yemeni Navy Seizes Israeli-Linked Vessel

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken among other high level White House officials have repeatedly stated since October 7 that one of their major objectives is to prevent the regionalization of the upsurge of resistance to the State of Israel in Gaza. However, it is Washington which has laid the groundwork for an already broad area of conflict throughout West Asia from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf. In the specific case of Yemen, the Pentagon, under successive administrations, has engaged in occupations, bombing operations and proxy wars. Between 2015 and 2022, the U.S., backing Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), coordinated a genocidal war against the people of Yemen resulting in one of the worst humanitarian crises on a global scale.

The Axis Of Resistance: What Does It Mean For A Palestinian?

It is superficial and patronizing to reduce all of the forces combating the Zionist entity and Western imperialism in the region to being “Iranian proxies.” This view is only espoused by the defeatists and the allies of the colonizers. Conversely, a substantial portion of those who have shed blood in the face of the colonial project understand that today’s battle is an extension of a long-standing conflict that began before the Zionist project itself. Iran’s central role in this current struggle dates back to the same year [1978] that the Zionists signed the Camp David Accords with Egypt. It was the first settlement agreement between an Arab nation and the Zionist entity; the Zionists believed it would herald the complete submission of the region and its peoples.
