Operation Al Aqsa Flood

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 22: Total Blackout In Gaza

Already plunged in the dark after Israel cut electricity access at the beginning of the onslaught, Gaza has now lost nearly all of its internet connectivity, internet and cybersecurity watchdog Netblocks confirmed on Friday evening, as cell towers for Paltel, the last remaining major operator standing in Gaza, were believed to be hit. Various reports seem to indicate that access to the internet in northern Gaza is almost completely gone, while communications out of southern Gaza are severely affected. Palestinian Authority Minister of Telecommunications Ishaq Sidr confirmed on Saturday that Israeli bombardments had hit the last two points designated for international connection with the Gaza Strip.

Israel Kills Al-Jazeera Correspondent’s Family

Wael El-Dahdouh, Al-Jazeera Bureau Chief in Gaza, was reporting live when an Israeli airstrike targeted the southern Gaza building where his family sheltered, killing his wife, son, daughter, and grandson. The news came hours after Axios reported that Secretary Antony Blinken told U.S. Jewish leaders he asked Qatar to “turn down the volume on Al Jazeera’s coverage” of the Israeli genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip, accusing the network of being “anti-Israel.” Mondoweiss reached out to journalists in Gaza who shared their anxiety that their families could fall victim to punitive shelling solely for doing their job.

Reports Indicate Israeli Forces Responsible For Israeli Deaths

Since October 7, the day’s events have been shrouded in mystery. There are not only questions about the Israeli intelligence apparatus’s colossal failure to anticipate what was happening in the tightly besieged Strip or the quick collapse of their billion-dollar “Maginot Line” but also the details of what actually transpired in the military bases and settlements around the Gaza Strip. We know that, by common estimates, 1,400 Israelis were killed in the following few days, but we do not yet know the details of how. Some reports are beginning to appear, including documentation of the killing of Israelis by Palestinian fighters, but there are a growing number of reports that indicate the Israeli military was also responsible for Israeli civilian and military deaths on October 7 and the days after.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 18: 32 Health Centers Forced Out Of Service

At least 140 Palestinians were killed in violent Israeli air strikes between Monday night and Tuesday morning in the besieged Gaza Strip, as Israel stepped up its bombardment of houses and infrastructure on the 18th day of its war on Gaza. Since October 7, at least 5,300 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air strikes and ground missiles on the Gaza Strip, including 2,055 children, 1,119 women and 217 elderly people, and 18,000 injured, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The number of displaced Palestinians topped 1,400,000 people, while Israel committed massacres against 597 Palestinian families by targeting their homes and residential buildings, killing at least 3,813.

‘No Sanctuary’: Israel’s Long War On Gaza

Israel has ordered some 1.1 million Palestinians in northern Gaza to evacuate. The north includes Gaza City, the most densely populated part of the strip, with 750,000 residents. It also includes Gaza’s main hospital, the Jabalia, and Al-Shati refugee camps. Gaza is one of the most heavily populated spots on the planet. Its borders are sealed by Egypt and Israel. There is no sanctuary; With a tiny landmass, 25 miles long, and only about five miles wide. Israel has cut off food, fuel, water, and electricity, provoking an appalling humanitarian crisis. Joining me to discuss the crisis in Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territories is the Middle East scholar Norman Finkelstein.

United States Faces Strategic Defeat In Geopolitical War In Gaza

One hundred years after the Arab Revolt (1916-1918) against the ruling Ottoman Turks amidst the impending defeat of Germany and the Triple Alliance in World War I, another armed uprising by the Arabs has erupted. This time around it’s against Israeli occupation, in the backdrop of the looming defeat of the United States and NATO in the Ukraine War — presenting a spectacle of history repeating unabridged. The Ottoman Empire disintegrated as a result of the Arab Revolt. Israel too will have to vacate its occupied territories and make space for a state of Palestine, which of course, will be a crushing defeat for the U.S. and marks the end of its global dominance.

Will Yemen And Iraq Join Palestine’s Al-Aqsa Flood?

Just hours after the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, the deadliest resistance offensive for Israel since its inception, supporters hit the streets in numerous Arab and Muslim-majority countries. Yet one nation, Yemen, stood out, despite its vast geographical distance from occupied Palestine. Not unlike previous mass demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine, hundreds of thousands of Yemenis poured into the streets of various cities, unwavering in their declaration of readiness to stand with the Palestinian resistance against what they saw as the "enemy of the Ummah."

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 12: Calls For Gaza Ceasefire Mount

Calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza are mounting, in the wake of a devastating Israeli hospital bombing on the night of Tuesday, October 17, which Gaza health officials have described as a “massacre.” United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an immediate ceasefire on Wednesday morning, October 18, as he condemned the “collective punishment” of Palestinians. Along with calls for a ceasefire, Guterres called for the immediate entrance of emergency humanitarian aid into Gaza, which has been prevented by Israel for more than a week, despite numerous warnings from UN and human rights agencies that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is catastrophic due to lack of food, water, and power.

Palestinians’ Legal Right To Resist; Their Fight And Showing Solidarity

On October 7, Hamas fighters broke out of Gaza, the world's largest open air prison, and directly attacked the Israeli State, including military facilities, illegal settlements and airports. Israeli Occupying Forces responded with sophisticated weaponry targeting civilian housing in Gaza and schools and hospitals where people sought refuge. Israel has now stopped all water, power and aid to Gaza. To understand what is happening and Palestinian rights under international law, Clearing the FOG speaks with Dr. Mazin Qumsiyeh, who resides in Bethlehem. In support of Palestinians' right to resist, massive rallies and marches are taking place around the world. Clearing the FOG also speaks with Priscilla Lynch and Clara Wagner about their direct action last week targeting L3 Harris, which provides military equipment to Israel, as part of a campaign by Demilitarize Western Mass.

Survivor Of Hamas Assault Says Israeli Army Killed Their Own Civilians

A survivor from the Palestinian resistance offensive on Israeli settlements on 7 October says the Israeli army is “undoubtedly” responsible for killing many of their civilians. “They eliminated everyone, including the hostages, because there was very, very heavy crossfire,” 44-year-old mother of three Yasmin Porat told the Haboker Hazeh radio program on Israeli Kan radio last week. When the interviewer asked if Israeli troops were responsible for civilian deaths, Porat said, “Undoubtedly.” Her interview has been scrubbed from the online version of Haboker Hazeh and the Kan website; however, Electronic Intifada procured a copy and translated it from Hebrew.

‘Human Catastrophe’ In Gaza As Israel Prepares For Ground Invasion

Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip has now entered its fifth day on Wednesday, October 11. Israeli airstrikes continued through Tuesday night and into Wednesday, targeting factories, shops, residential buildings, and a university, killing at least 30 Palestinians and wounding hundreds of others. Health officials in Gaza say medical facilities across the Strip are on the brink of collapse, as officials announce the shutdown of Gaza’s sole power plant, plunging the Strip into total darkness. Mondoweiss Gaza correspondent Tareq Hajjaj says that internet connection and cell service are still extremely difficult to come by in Gaza, after Israel bombed the central company that provides internet to Gaza City.

Israeli Media Examine Government Failure; US Pushes ‘National Unity’

As the world watches the ongoing horror in southern Israel and in the Gaza Strip, media grapple not only with the immediate violence, but to understand why this happened and how it can stop. This is truly no other Middle East skirmish anymore. Likely the deadliest offensive against Israel on its soil, and perhaps the most audacious operation by Palestinian militants, it’s been compared both to 9/11 and to the bloody 1973 war between Israel and a coalition of Arab nations. How could Israel—so famous for its military might and advanced intelligence capabilities—have missed the warnings of such an attack?

The World Stands With The Palestinian Struggle

Israel’s brutal response to the Hamas-led surprise offensive operation, has been met with sharp condemnation from people across the world. Mass protests have been taken out in dozens of cities globally in support of the Palestinian cause and to condemn the disproportionate escalation by Israel. On October 9, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant harshened existing measures against Gaza when he announced a “complete blockade” of the enclave following the launch of the offensive by Palestinian resistance groups. In Gaza, there is to be “no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed,” Gallant said in a televised address.

Israel To Impose Total Blockade Of Gaza As Air Strikes Continue

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced a “complete blockade” of Gaza on Monday October 9 and said that “there will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed.” In his announcement Gallant stated: “We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly.” Gaza is one of the world’s most densely populated areas with a population of 2.3 million. The defense minister’s declarations come just one day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formally declared war on Hamas. Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes have continued to carry out indiscriminate bombings across the Gaza strip, targeting schools, mosques, civilian buildings. Israeli media reported on Monday that at least 1,000 tons of explosives have been dropped on Gaza, targeting 500 locations, mostly civilian residential areas.

Al-Qassam Commander: ‘Today, People Claim Their Revolution’

The Zionist colonial occupation occupied our Palestinian homeland and displaced our people, destroyed our towns and villages, committed hundreds of massacres against our people, killing children, women, and elderly people and demolishing homes with their inhabitants inside in violation of all international norms and laws and human rights conventions. We have previously warned the Israeli occupation against continuing their crimes and appealed to world leaders to work on putting an end to the Israeli crimes against our Palestinian people and detainees and their holy sites and homeland and to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to abide by international law and resolutions. Neither did the Israeli occupation leaders heed our demands nor did the world leaders act in this regard. Instead, the Israeli occupation intensified its crimes, crossing all red lines, particularly in occupied Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque – the Muslims’ first Qibla and third holiest site.
