Positive Signs That The Tide Is Turning Towards Humanity In Latin America

As we are gathering today, in my country Argentina, there is a very important presidential election taking place. If there is no fraud, it appears that the progressive formula of Alberto Fernandez for President and Cristina Fernandez for Vice-president have won. This is a good sign and very close to my heart. I left Argentina in the seventies at the time of bloody military dictatorship in South America, I was one of the lucky ones that was able to survive to tell the story. This election is one example of the push back against the imperial advances in Latin America...

Max Blumenthal Arrest Exposes Hypocrisy Of Western Media And ‘Human Rights’ NGOs

Blumenthal is a bestselling author whose work has appeared in such publications as the New York Times, CJR, The Nation and Salon. DC police arrested him at his home on a five-month-old arrest warrant, charging him with simple assault for his attempt to deliver food to the besieged Venezuelan embassy; he was held for two days, and for the first 36 hours was not allowed to speak with a lawyer. (In an interview with FAIR, Blumenthal noted that keeping arrestees—generally poor and African-American—from speaking with lawyers or family is par for the course in the DC criminal justice system.)

By Protecting Syria’s Idlib, The US Created A Safe Haven For Baghdadi And ISIS

October has been a tough month for the motley crew of self-styled Syria experts and regime-change diehards who spent years cheering on the so-called “moderate rebels.” First, the “Free Syrian Army” fighters they had long championed were finally and undeniably exposed as the brutal extremists they always were. All it took for the curtain to be pulled back was for President Trump to green-light a Turkish invasion of Syria, and those once-“moderate” CIA-trained contras that had long terrorized civilians in Syrian government territory were revealed to be Turkish-backed mercenaries...

The US Double Standard In Venezuela Vs. Honduras

The recent conviction of Tony Hernández for massive cocaine smuggling in a federal court case in which his brother, Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernández, was an unindicted co-conspirator demonstrates one thing beyond a doubt: Honduras is a narco-state. The equally compelling evidence of widespread corruption, electoral fraud, and savage repression confirms Honduras’s status as a rogue state and begs comparison with Venezuela, which has faced similar accusations.

The USA’s History Of Controlling The OPCW To Promote Regime Change

You wouldn’t know it from today’s news headlines, but there’s a major scandal unfolding with potentially far-reaching consequences for the entire international community. The political/media class has been dead silent about the fact that there are now two whistleblowers whose revelations have cast serious doubts on a chemical weapons watchdog group that is widely regarded as authoritative, despite the fact that this same political/media class has been crowing all month about how important whistleblowers are and how they need to be protected ever since a CIA spook exposed some dirt on the Trump administration.

Crises In Ecuador, Chile, “Reflects The Exhaustion Of Neoliberal Policies”

Several neoliberal or right-wing governments in South America are turning authoritarian in the face of mass protests taking place in their countries, undermining thus the “region’s weak democratic institutionalism,” Spanish political analyst Pascual Serrano told Sputnik. “What is going on in Ecuador, and Chile, which are currently the most visible examples, or in Peru where the Congress was dissolved a few weeks ago, is not an institutional crisis but the exhaustion of neoliberal policies undertaken by right-wing governments, which instead of correcting their mistakes are shifting to authoritarian models”...

Honduras Is Ruled By A US-Backed Drug Cartel – And The Country’s Opposition Just United To Oust It

The main forces in the political opposition in Honduras have come together in an historic unity agreement to oust the right-wing government of President Juan Orlando Hernández — one of the most corrupt regimes on Earth. Hernández, commonly referred to by his initials JOH, is a key US ally in Central America, and is notorious for his documented involvement in the international narcotics trade. While the United States federal government and military has thrown its weight behind JOH and his unpopular government, the US justice system recently confirmed his role in drug trafficking and the shocking levels of corruption festering under his watch.

Truth Is Told On National TV: US Must End Regime Change Wars

No wonder Democratic Party bosses and mainstream media are trying to bury presidential contender Tulsi Gabbard. She is the only candidate, perhaps the only politician in the US, who is telling the American public exactly what they need to know about what their government and military are really up to: fighting illegal regime-change wars, and to boot, sponsoring terrorists for that purpose. It didn’t come much clearer nor more explicit than when Gabbard fired up the Democratic TV debate this week.

The Latest On The Diplomatic War Against Venezuela

According to conventional wisdom, the Trump administration, as well as its regional allies in the Lima Group and the Venezuelan opposition, were set to intensify the diplomatic war on the Venezuelan government at the U.N. General Assembly. However, they only managed to demonstrate how far removed their coalition against President Maduro is from convincing the international community that deadly sanctions and a coup are the way forward for Venezuela. Their plan had several goals: increase the number of countries that recognize Juan Guaidó...

The U.S. Led Coup Attempt In Iraq May Further Weaken That Country

The current unrest in Iraq began a week ago after a prominent general was removed from his post: Lieutenant General Abdul Wahab al-Saadi was the great Iraqi military hero of the war against Isis, leading the assault on Mosul which recaptured the de facto Isis capital after a nine-month siege in 2017. But at the weekend he was suddenly removed as the commander of the Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) shock troops, the elite corps of the Iraqi armed forces, by Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi. He was instead given what the general considered to be a non-job at the Defence Ministry.

Members Of Haitian Community Occupy Justin Trudeau’s Office In Montreal

Today Justin Trudeau’s office in the Montreal riding of Papineau was occupied by members of the local Haitian community, demanding a change in Canada’s policy towards the government of Haiti’s Jovenel Moïse. “Promises are being made and we want to hear from Trudeau that they will no longer support this corrupt, illegitimate government, and continue to allow, to let people die in Haiti,” Frantz André told Ricochet by phone, right after the nearly two-hour protest and occupation had concluded. “We occupied Trudeau’s campaign office in response to the killings and repression by the current Haitian government,” said André...

Colombia Admits To Deceiving U.N. With Fake Pictures To Accuse Venezuela Of Illegal Activities

News agencies AFP and El Colombiano have confirmed that they had taken at least four of the pictures included in the dossier delivered by Colombian President Ivan Duque to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres last Thursday during the 74th U.N. Assembly General. According to the President, the photographs were to be key evidence to prove the relationship between Colombian illegal groups and the Venezuelan Government headed by Nicolas Maduro, reported the news website Semana.

Haiti On Brink Of Revolution To Overthrow US-Backed Regime

The aid money came through Venezuela’s PetroCaribe program, which had allowed Haiti to buy petroleum products at discount and on credit. However, the program has now been suspended for more than a year because of the interests of US imperialism, which backs the Haitian regime and has supported coup attempts to install a right-wing regime in Venezuela. The suspension has meant that Haiti’s long-suffering people have been faced with an extra burden: an ever-worsening fuel shortage that has resulted in closed service stations, rising prices and long lines to buy petrol.

Following Grayzone Exposé, Top Venezuelan Coup Official Ricardo Hausmann Is Forced To Resign

Hours before an expected vote at the United Nations General Assembly on the legitimacy of Venezuela’s Maduro-led government amidst a US-led coup, a senior official of Juan Guaidó’s coup regime was forced to resign from his position. Economist Ricardo Hausmann stepped down from his post at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) following an exposé by The Grayzone’s Anya Parampil of his conflicts of interest and opaque financial practices. While Hausmann worked at the IDB as an ambassador of Guaidó’s shadow administration, he was also employed as the Rafik Hariri Professor of the Practice of Political Economy at Harvard University.
