Western Regime-Change Operatives Launch Campaign To Blame Bolivia’s Evo Morales For Amazon Fires

With fires set by landowners raging throughout the Amazon for nearly a month, a group of Western-backed information warriors has begun working to redirect outrage from the far-right Brazilian government toward a more convenient target.  After a flurry of media pinned the blame on everyone from poor people eating meat to China, a new target has come into focus: the leftist Bolivian government of President Evo Morales. Originally content to merely accuse Bolivians of not responding fast enough...

Foreign Intervention Still Alive: OAS Council Approves Human Rights Resolution On Venezuela

With 21 votes in favor, the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) approved on Wednesday a resolution on the situation of human rights in Venezuela. The resolution calls for strengthening cooperation between the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner (UN) to “monitor the situation” in Venezuela. “It also requires that an “independent, thorough and credible” investigation be undertaken to prosecute those responsible for human rights violations in the country.

What’s Next In Venezuela After The Recent Events?

Last week left some clues as to what we should expect in Venezuela regarding its political scenario for the coming months. Let’s make a review and try to connect some dots. Fact 1: The uncomfortable truth Venezuela’s United Socialist Party vice-president Diosdado Cabello said in a press conference that local opposition has become a real headache for the United States. According to Cabello, Washington has started to disregard Venezuela’s opposition for being incompetent and for stealing the money they sent to fund political destabilization activity against the Nicolas Maduro Administration.

Twitter Relying On US/European Gov-Funded Regime-Change Groups To Crack Down On Foreign States

Twitter has continued to demonstrate how Big Tech corporations in Silicon Valley operate as arms of the American national security state. On August 19, the social media giant announced that is relying on numerous organizations funded by the US government and European allies to help it police foreign state media on its platform. Among the Twitter allies is Freedom House, a notorious right-wing lobby group almost entirely bankrolled by Washington that is heavily invested in regime-change operations against foreign adversaries.

Suddenly West Is Failing To Overthrow “Regimes”

It used to be done regularly and it worked: The West identified a country as its enemy, unleashed its professional propaganda against it, then administered a series of sanctions, starving and murdering children, the elderly and other vulnerable groups. If the country did not collapse within months or just couple of years, the bombing would begin. And the nation, totally shaken, in pain, and in disarray, would collapse like a house of cards, once the first NATO boots hit its ground. Such scenarios were re-enacted, again and again, from Yugoslavia to Iraq.

Russia Signs Deal To Send Navy To Venezuela After ‘Unacceptable’ U.S. Moves

The Russian military has signed a deal that would allow it to send military ships to Venezuela, expressing support for the Latin American country. The U.S. has been critical of current Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, and has backed attempts to replace him. Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino met Thursday in Moscow with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu, with whom he "signed an agreement on the visits of warships to the ports of both states and discussed the situation in Venezuela, as well as issues of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation."

Lula: The US is Behind “Operation Car Wash”

For former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, events in Brazil since the 2016 coup that deposed President Dilma Rousseff were orchestrated by the US government. “Everything that is happening has the hand of the United States on it…. The US created the Lava Jato investigation to take our oil,” he said, speaking for the first time after Supreme Court (STF) prevented his transfer to a São Paulo prison. Lula’s interview, with veteran journalist Bob Fernandes, aired on TVE, a public television station from Bahia, on Friday, August 16th. It was the former President’s first interview for a public television station since his arrest on April 7, 2018. In the interview, the former president said he does not know how the information revealed by the Intercept website in recent weeks arrives to the Supreme Court...

Lust For Profits, Not Love Of Democracy: The Real Reason Washington Wants Maduro Gone

In Inventing Reality: The Politics of the News Media, political scientist Michael Parenti wrote that, “Even when we don’t believe what the media say, we are still hearing or reading their viewpoints rather than some other. They are still setting the agenda.” [1] And the agenda they’ve set on Venezuela is built on the questions of whether the government of Nicolas Maduro is authoritarian and whether its so-called ‘socialist’ policies have ruined the country’s economy.

Food Shipment Destined For Venezuela Seized Due To US Blockade

Venezuela’s Vicepresident Delcy Rodriguez denounced Wednesday that a ship containing 25 thousand tons of soy-made products has been seized in the Panama Canal due to the U.S. blockade while calling on the United Nations to take action against the "serious aggression" that impede Venezuela "right to food". "Venezuela denounces before the world that a boat that holds 25 thousand tons of tons of soy, for food production in our country, has been seized in the Panama Canal, due to the criminal blockade imposed by Donald Trump," the vice president said in a tweet.

‘John Bolton Tried To Assassinate Me’: Interview With Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro

Six months ago, the United States government recognized an unknown opposition leader as interim president of Venezuela. But here in Caracas today, it’s pretty clear who’s in charge. I’ve just concluded a conversation with the elected president, Nicolas Maduro. We talked about the US government’s attempts to delegitimize him as leader, to destroy his country’s economy, and to even end his life. Mr. President, the last US journalist you spoke to I believe was Jorge Ramos, of Univision.

A Former Coal Lobbyist Is Puerto Rico’s New Governor…For Now

Puerto Rico has a new governor, former coal lobbyist Pedro Pierluisi — and he didn’t even make it through the weekend before facing the first legal challenge to his leadership. On Sunday, the U.S. territory’s Senate filed a lawsuit claiming his ascent to the office was unconstitutional and seeking an order for him to cease his function in the role immediately. Pierluisi was sworn in during a private ceremony seconds after embattled Governor Ricardo Rosselló’s resignation became effective this past Friday at 5 p.m. Roselló’s reluctant exit came after weeks of widespread protests...

Popular Resistance Expresses Solidarity With Venezuela Against US Blockade

On August 6, 2019, at the same time that National Security Adviser John Bolton is leading a US delegation in Peru to organize opposition to the elected government of Venezuela, the White House released a statement about a new executive order signed by President Trump that creates a blockade on Venezuela. And it imposes a travel ban, under the discretion of the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, to block anyone from entering the United States who supports the elected government of Venezuela. Popular Resistance opposes the illegal actions being taken by the United States, including this latest blockade, and urges the United States to end the unilateral coercive economic measures and threats of military attack, which violate the United Nations Charter.

The End Of A Cocaine-Fueled Presidency? Juan Orlando Hernandez Faces Regime Change In Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS — Flanked by ministers and military and police leadership, Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez — embattled after being slapped with new drug trafficking allegations in the U.S. — held a press conference on the night of Saturday, August 3rd to declare his innocence. The accusations against him include funneling cocaine profits into his re-election campaign and shielding his brother and other drug kingpins from prosecution.

Sao Paulo Forum: Defending Venezuela Is Defending Our America

The Sao Paulo Forum (SPF) that took place in Caracas just ended on July 28 fittingly within the framework of remembering the 65thanniversary of the birth of Hugo Chavez with a display of affection and respect for the late Comandante with fireworks and all. By all accounts the SPF has been a politically successful event that followed a significant meeting of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (NAM) that concluded with a strong political declaration and support of 120 governments for the democratically elected Venezuelan government of Nicolas Maduro.

We Believe Regime Change Begins At Home

August 03, 2019 "Information Clearing House" -  I am representing, alongside my colleagues Anya Parampil and Ben Norton, an independent media organization with no formal relationship to this government or any other government. We are here because our government, and a corporate media which acts as an arm of its foreign policy, is pursuing a dangerous and catastrophic policy of siege and regime change. We have seen the catastrophes that this same policy has caused for Central America, for Iraq, for Libya, for Syria...
