USDA Ends Key Support For Black Farmers Amid Trump Anti-DEI Orders

Lloyd Wright isn’t shocked that the United States Department of Agriculture is reversing a 35-year-old policy meant to help Black farmers in favor of a race-neutral approach. But the 84-year-old, who grows soybeans and vegetables in Virginia, knows his fellow Black farmers will feel “the damage” of it.  Last week, the agency announced that it’s eliminating the term “socially disadvantaged,” which describes farmers or ranchers who had been subjected to racial, ethnic, or gender discrimination, which includes Black, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian groups.

Department Of Labor Proposes Rollback Of Workplace Safety And Wage Protection Regulations

This month, the US Department of Labor, led by Trump-appointed Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, announced a proposal to repeal 63 workplace safety rules in what the Department called “aggressive deregulatory efforts” in order to “put the American worker first.” The regulations that the DOL has dubbed “obsolete” include eliminating minimum wage and overtime protections for millions of home health care workers, rolling back protections for farm workers, rescinding a requirement for employers to provide adequate lighting at construction sites, weaken safety standards in the mining industry, and limit the authority of OSHA to protect workers in what the DOL dubs “inherently risky professional activities” such as entertainment or journalism.

New Youth-Led Lawsuit Is Challenging Trump’s Fossil Fuel Orders

This summer, kids are taking the climate crisis to the courts. The 22 plaintiffs of Lighthiser v. Trump, a lawsuit filed in May, range from 7 to 25 years old. They are challenging three of President Donald Trump’s most controversial executive orders to “unleash” fossil fuels and revoke renewable energy initiatives. The orders roll back critical investments in sustainable technologies and climate science, declare a “National Energy Emergency” to increase fossil fuel use, and prop up the coal, oil and gas industries through deregulation.

Panamanian Unionists Reject US Claim On Canal, Government Wavers

President Trump mentioned Panama in his inaugural address on January 20. He indicated the Canal “has foolishly been given to the country of Panama.” And “China is operating the Panama Canal. And we didn’t give it to China.” He added that, “the spirit of our treaty has been totally violated. American ships are being severely overcharged and not treated fairly in any way, shape, or form.” The treaty in question is one of the two Torrijos-Carter Treaties of 1977 that guided the transfer of the Panama Canal to Panamanian ownership in 1999. Addressing the Congress on March 5, Trump announced, “My administration will be reclaiming the Panama Canal, and we’ve already started doing it … “Just today, a large American company announced they are buying both ports around the Panama Canal.”

2,000 Troops Withdraw From Los Angeles; Fuera ICE!

At the end of May, the Trump administration began increasing its attacks on the immigrant community and the working class of Los Angeles. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids targeted schools and places of work for precarious workers like Home Depot and the garment district. In response to the attacks, including the arrest of union members like SEIU union president David Huerta, community members organized protests and mobilizations. Combative street confrontations have taken place against ICE, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and sheriffs. And President Trump deployed thousands of National Guard troops who assisted ICE and local law enforcement in brutalizing the community.

20 States Sue Trump Administration For Slashing FEMA Disaster Program

A group of 20 states sued the Trump administration on Wednesday over the shutting down of a multibillion-dollar grant program with the purpose of strengthening natural disaster preparation and mitigation. The lawsuit filed in a Boston federal court contends that the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) unlawfully eliminated its Building Resilient Infrastructures and Communities (BRIC) program, overriding Congress. The states said in the complaint that the shutdown’s impacts have been “devastating,” reported The Hill.

Trump’s Concentration Camps Are Not New To The United States

Donald Trump is perhaps unique among modern presidents in his determination to fulfill his very retrograde vision for the United States. He goes beyond the cajoling and arm twisting that other presidents were known for, and dispenses with precedent, the Congress and the law itself in order to realize a key part of his vision, getting as many Global South immigrants out of the U.S. as he possibly can. He was quite serious about enacting a mass deportation policy. Immigrants attempting to follow the law and legalize their status are set upon in courtrooms by masked agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and are taken to detention facilities.

ICE Kidnappings Mirror World War II Germany

Arlington, VA—If anything is true about Tesla Takedown Arlington activists, it’s that they’re not afraid to take on bullies. On Saturday, they went after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), slamming it for its illegal kidnapping policy and the state-created chaos the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is spreading across the country. Several protestors brought signs written in Spanish “Chinga la Migra por Vida,” translating to F— ICE forever. This message connected with many dozens of Latino motorists passing the Arlington Tesla showroom on their way to and from weekend yard work, or various labor-intensive employments, judging by the tools and equipment they carried in their truck beds.

Trump Is Trying To Dismantle Public Health

From the streets to town halls and the courts, it’s a race now. The Trump administration is fighting to remain a step ahead of the growing popular backlash to its draconian cuts to social programs that millions of Americans depend on — at least until the administration operationalizes enough of the police state it’s practicing on immigrants to put down any such objection. Budget proposals and “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) cuts switching out the public commons for a police state make the regime’s objectives clear.

The IRS Is Building A Vast System To Share Taxpayers’ Data With ICE

The Internal Revenue Service is building a computer program that would give deportation officers unprecedented access to confidential tax data. ProPublica has obtained a blueprint of the system, which would create an “on demand” process allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement to obtain the home addresses of people it’s seeking to deport. Last month, in a previously undisclosed dispute, the acting general counsel at the IRS, Andrew De Mello, refused to turn over the addresses of 7.3 million taxpayers sought by ICE. In an email obtained by ProPublica, De Mello said he had identified multiple legal “deficiencies” in the agency’s request.

United States Government Is Very Afraid Of BRICS And Dedollarization

Western corporate media coverage of the Global South-led organization BRICS is frequently dismissive and condescending. Bloomberg published an article claiming that BRICS is “little more than a meaningless acronym”. It appears that a lot of this criticism, nevertheless, is actually a coping mechanism, because evidence is piling up showing that the US government is very afraid of the rapid growth of BRICS. Donald Trump, in particular, is terrified of the possibility of BRICS challenging the global dominance of the US dollar. BRICS held a successful summit in Brazil in July, featuring for the first time the participation of 10 members and 10 partner countries. Trump responded with furious denunciation, threatening to hit all BRICS countries with 10% tariffs.

How Trump’s Proposed Cuts Could Devastate Tribal Colleges

After losing her mother, sister and brother to diabetes, Joilynn Loves Him decided to study health at Northwest Indian College, a tribal college in Washington. Her experience at the school “has been life-changing.”  “The teachers make sure we’re successful,” Loves Him said. “They’re really there for students, and they understand that life happens. If I were at a normal Western college, I’m pretty sure I never would’ve made it.” Such sentiments about tribal colleges are common among students. Tribal colleges and universities are institutions of higher education, chartered by tribes, that aim to meet the educational and cultural needs of Native communities.

As Trump Threatens BRICS, It Grows Stronger

The Global South-led organization BRICS has been growing in size and influence, and this has frightened some Western politicians. Donald Trump is particularly rattled. After he returned to the White House for his second term as US president, Trump threatened very high tariffs on BRICS, and falsely said he had destroyed the organization. “BRICS is dead”, Trump claimed in a press conference on 13 February. The US president stated: BRICS was put there for a bad purpose, and most of those people don’t want — they don’t even want to talk about it now; they’re afraid to talk about it. Because I told them, if they want to play games with the dollar, then they’re going to be hit with a 100% tariff, the day they mention that they want to do it. And they will come back and say, “We beg you, we beg you not to do this”.

Everything You Need To Know About War With Iran

Following attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States, the world held its breath as the prospect of World War III loomed on the horizon. After 12 days of conflict, a ceasefire has brought about new uncertainty for the future. Former British diplomat Alastair Crooke joins host Chris Hedges on this episode of The Chris Hedges Report to make sense of the current situation in the Middle East and what can be expected in the coming weeks or months. Crooke details the lead up to the Israeli attacks, including the use of technology and neighbouring countries that allowed for the element of surprise. Cyber attacks, drones flown in from Azerbaijan and American military software served as crucial elements for the Israeli attacks on Iran.

Trump’s Big, Beautiful Attack On Public Health

On July 4, President Trump signed his 1,000-page “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB) into law. The bill permanently enacts several income tax cuts that were originally passed in 2017 while providing additional benefits to the wealthiest. It also includes significant funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) while rolling back environmental protections. The bill is a massive attack on the working class and will harm the most marginalized, all while adding $3.3 trillion to the national debt. It makes severe cuts to the social safety net, especially healthcare programs like Medicaid and Medicare, as well as other programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as food stamps.
