Israel’s Genocide Day 398: Israel Admits It Is Depopulating North Gaza

Israel announced on Thursday that it will expand its offensive on north Gaza, which has been ongoing since October 5. According to the Israeli army, military operations that have largely taken place in Jabalia refugee camp will expand to Beit Lahia. On Tuesday, a spokesperson of the Israeli army, Yitzhak Cohen, said in a press briefing that the army has come close to the complete “evacuation” of the population of north Gaza. The army spokesperson said that Palestinian residents of the north will not be allowed to return to their homes. This declaration marks the first official Israeli admission of the intent to permanently expel Palestinians from north Gaza.

Iran Offers Moderate Response To Israeli Aggression

Iran offered Israel the opportunity to implement an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and stop killing civilians across the region, if the Zionist state seeks to minimize the impact of the upcoming Iranian retaliation to aggression against the country in the last month. “If they make a revision in their behavior, accept a ceasefire and stop killing the oppressed and innocent people of the region, it could have an effect on the type and intensity of our response,” Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday, November 3.

Israel’s Genocide Day 395: Israel Using Hunger As A Weapon Of War

Israeli internal intelligence arrested four Israelis, one of whom works at Netanyahu’s office, for charges of leaking and falsification of classified documents concerning the ongoing war on Gaza, an Israeli court revealed over the weekend. The fabricated documents allegedly leaked by one of Netanyahu’s aides were falsely attributed to the late Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar. The revelations of the recent fabrications repudiate Israeli propaganda claims of Hamas’s alleged intransigence in ceasefire negotiations throughout the war, especially during the last round of negotiations over the summer.

‘Gaza Tribunal’ Established To Seek Justice For War Crimes In Gaza

A group of academics, intellectuals, human rights advocates, and representatives from the media and civil society organizations gathered in London last week, the capital of the UK, to launch the symbolic “Gaza Tribunal," an independent initiative serving as a "court of humanity and conscience." Led by Richard Falk, a distinguished international law expert and former UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, the tribunal is taking an alternative route to international justice, aiming to spotlight voices from civil society in the examination of abuses following the conflict that escalated after Hamas-led attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

The Case For Abandoning The Burning House

Currently, the staunchest of Black liberals are demanding their community and its allies disregard the interests of Palestinians by way of voting for their butchers under the guise of sparing Black and other marginalized people from their domestic antagonist, Donald Trump. In doing so they are ignoring the many crises already plaguing these communities, under Democratic leadership on both the state and federal level. 2023 was one of the deadliest years for police violence, homelessness continues to skyrocket, and the Biden administration continued the American presidential legacy of ruthlessly starving, bombing, and destabilizing multiple countries—including Cuba, Palestine, Libya, Somalia, and Lebanon.

Fifty Two Nations Call For Global Arms Embargo On Israel

The Foreign Ministry of Turkiye sent the UN a letter signed by 52 nations and two organizations calling for a halt in military transfers to Israel, stating the Israeli army is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called for the arms embargo on Israel while speaking at a news conference in Djibouti on 1 November. While attending the Turkiye–Africa collaboration meeting, Fidan announced that the group letter was sent to the UN and that it must be "repeated at every opportunity that selling arms to Israel means participating in its genocide."

Soldier Who Self-Immolated Wins Sam Adams Award

The Sam Adams Associates are pleased to announce United States Air Force Senior Airman Aaron Bushnell as the recipient of the 2024 Sam Adams Award for Integrity in Intelligence. Bushnell was a cyber defense operations specialist with the 531st Intelligence Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. He was assigned to the 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing at Fort Meade in Maryland. Senior Airman (SRA) Bushnell martyred himself when he walked up to the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 25, 2024, while streaming himself as he approached, and then self-immolated in protest of what Israel is doing to Palestinians, the most extreme form of protest.

Israel’s Genocide Day 391: Israel Kills 200 Palestinians In Gaza

In his first televised address as newly elected Secretary General of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem said on Wednesday that his leadership of the Lebanese resistance group will be a continuation of the leadership of his predecessor, Hasan Nasrallah, who was assassinated by Israel on September 28. Qassem affirmed that Hezbollah has not changed course despite the heavy blows it suffered with Israel’s assassination of several of its top military leaders, Nasrallah included. The Hezbollah Secretary General stated that the organization had the capacity to “fight for days, weeks, and months.”

Israel’s Genocide Day 388: Ongoing Israeli Assault In Northern Gaza

The last functioning hospital in northern Gaza has officially stopped functioning after Israeli forces raided it over the weekend, arresting all but two of its medical staff and damaging parts of the hospital premises. On Saturday, Israeli forces began to raid the hospital, ordering patients and medical staff to leave its wings and descend to the courtyard. Israeli soldiers then separated the men from the women and arrested dozens of Palestinians, including all of the hospital’s staff except one nurse and the hospital’s Director, Dr. Husam Abu Safiyeh.

Microsoft Fires Employees Over Gaza Vigil; Tech Giants Face Scrutiny

Microsoft recently fired two employees who organized a vigil at its headquarters in Redmond, Washington, to remember Palestinians killed amid Israel’s ongoing genocide on Gaza, the Associated Press reported. According to the employees, they were dismissed over the phone late on Thursday, following a lunchtime gathering they had planned on the company campus. AP reported that “both workers were members of a coalition of employees called ‘No Azure for Apartheid’ that has opposed Microsoft’s sale of its cloud-computing technology to the Israeli government.” Tuesday’s event, however, was reportedly similar to other charitable campaigns organized within the company to aid communities in crisis.

‘We’re Witnessing This Global Tidal Wave Of Repression’

As media critics, we look to Palestinians to represent Palestinian views, but it’s crucial that we not see the present moment as something happening to other people somewhere else. The repression of simple anti-genocide calls, the censorship, the firings, the disinformation, the malforming of concepts like antisemitism—these are problems for all of us, about all of us, that will influence all of us forever. Defending Rights & Dissent, online at RightsAndDissent.org, have started a project called the Gaza First Amendment Alert, which is going to come out every other Wednesday. Chip Gibbons is policy director at Defending Rights & Dissent. He’s a journalist, researcher and a longtime activist.

US Tries To Entice Israel Into Minimizing Its Attack On Iran

On October 15, two American officials told the Associated Press that they “believed” the White House had gotten assurances from Israel that it would not strike Iran’s oil or nuclear facilities when it launched its eventual retaliation for the October 1 missile barrage that Iran had fired at Israel. The officials’ cautious tone reflected their lack of confidence in Israel’s verbal agreements. Nothing was in writing, and Israel had made no public declaration about limiting its options regarding Iranian targets. Given Israel’s long history of defying and deceiving its credulous benefactor, it’s remarkable that it’s taken this long for Washington to display this kind of caution with Israel’s promises.

Israel’s Genocide Day 384: Israel Ethnically Cleanses Northern Gaza

The Israeli army forcibly expelled Palestinians in northern Gaza from their shelters, as relayed by eyewitness accounts, news reports, and video footage released by Israeli sources. On Wednesday, Israel’s Kan satellite channel aired video footage of Israeli military trucks transferring dozens of blindfolded Palestinian detainees. Kan claimed that the Palestinians were arrested “for interrogation.” The Israeli army also released aerial video footage on Wednesday showing hundreds of Palestinians walking amid the rubble, surrounded by Israeli tanks as they all head in the same direction after being gathered in a destroyed square. The Israeli army reportedly said that it had “evacuated” 20,000 Palestinians from Jabalia.

Hamas: ‘Intensive Political Campaign’ Underway To Halt Ethnic Cleansing

Hamas said in a statement on 24 October that it has launched an “intensive” diplomatic and political campaign aimed at thwarting the General’s Plan, through which Israel is trying to empty out northern Gaza via extermination and expulsion and transform it into a military zone. The statement said Hamas has warned, in the contacts it is making, of the “scale of the massive daily massacres that have reached the most heinous levels that humans can imagine, including terrorism, killing, and the execution of children and women in cold blood, as well as the organized displacement of about one hundred and fifty thousand people.”

Chris Hedges Report: The Escalating Crisis In The Middle East

Decades of Islamophobia, relentless propaganda campaigns and heavily financed lobbying efforts have made it difficult to understand the political realities of the Middle East. John Mearsheimer, prominent political scientist, University of Chicago professor and self-proclaimed realist, has consistently demonstrated the courage and ability to bypass the noise, delivering honest and well-informed analysis on global affairs. He joins host Chris Hedges on this episode of The Chris Hedges Report to lay out what’s happening in the Middle East, from Israel’s genocide in Gaza to its escalating attacks on Lebanon and Iran.
