Israel’s Genocide Day 404: Israel Is Committing Ethnic Cleansing

Israel is committing “systematic,” “widespread” displacement of the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip, the international human rights group, Human Rights Watch, said in a report on Wednesday. According to the report, Israel’s actions may amount to a crime against humanity. The group dismissed Israeli claims about Palestinian fighters hiding among civilians, and said that “There is no plausible imperative military reason to justify Israel’s mass displacement of nearly all of Gaza’s population, often multiple times,” indicating that “from the first days of the hostilities, senior officials in the Israeli government and the war cabinet have declared their intent to displace the Palestinian population of Gaza.”

End Of Empathy: Did The Gaza Genocide Render The UN Irrelevant?

Francesca Albanese did not mince her words. In a strongly worded speech at the United Nations General Assembly Third Committee on 29 October, the UN Special Rapporteur deviated from the typical line of other UN officials. She directed her statements to those in attendance. “Is it possible that after 42,000 people killed, you cannot empathise with the Palestinians?” Albanese said in her statement about the need to “recognise (Israel’s war on Gaza) as a genocide”. “Those of you who have not uttered a word about what is happening in Gaza demonstrate that empathy has evaporated from this room,” she added.

Israel And The Evidence Gap

In early October 2024, Professor Joseph Massad of Columbia University gave an interview to the online news site Electronic Intifada. In it he said that there is a “huge gap” between the academic (evidence-based) understanding of aspects of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict (such as the Jewish supremacist nature of Israeli society and its resulting apartheid policies) and the mainstream media assumptions about (a “democratic” and “progressive”) Israel. The latter define the popular and official reporting about that country and its Zionist ideology. Massad’s observation describes a problem that distorts more than just views of Israel.

Top Israeli Court Rejects Netanyahu’s Request To Delay Criminal Trial

The Jerusalem District Court rejected on 13 November a request made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to delay his testimony in his corruption trial by 10 weeks. The court said the premier has already had five months to prepare for his testimony, which is scheduled for 2 December. “We were not convinced that a substantial change in circumstances has occurred which would justify a change to the date we set in our [original] decision.” As a result, Netanyahu will be forced to take the stand. Hours prior to the court ruling, a representative of the Israeli State Attorney’s Office, Yehudit Tirosh, said the “prime minister can’t dictate the schedule for his trial and testimony.”

Genocidal Scorecard

A United Nations report, published last month, lays out in chilling detail the advances made by Israel in Gaza as it seeks to eradicate “the very existence of the Palestinian people in Palestine.” This genocidal project, the report ominously warns, “is now metastasizing to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.” The Nakba or “catastrophe,” which in 1948 saw Zionist militias drive 750,000 Palestinians from their homes, carry out more than 70 massacres and seize 78 percent of historic Palestine, has returned on steroids.

Israel’s Genocide Day 401: Israel Continues Gaza Ethnic Cleansing

Accusations of Israel committing ethnic cleansing have increased after an Israeli army general admitted that Israeli forces have “evacuated” most of the residents of Beit Lahia, Jabalia and al-Atatra in the north of the strip, and that they will not be allowed back. On Monday, the EU chief diplomat, Josep Borrell Fontelles, said that the term of “ethnic cleansing” is increasingly used to describe what is going on in the north in the north of Gaza. Borrell’s remarks on ‘X’ came a day after the Israeli daily Haaretz published an editorial, saying “the Israeli military is conducting an ethnic cleansing operation in the northern Gaza Strip.”

UCSF Health Professionals Charge Leadership With Complicity In Genocide

Almost a year ago, on October 31, 2023, faculty held a press conference in front of the Helen Diller Medical Center at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), in order to amplify the warnings of Palestinian colleagues at al-Ahli Hospital who predicted that Israel’s bombing of the hospital would be the first in a campaign that would decimate Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure. At the time, British-Palestinian surgeon Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sittah, addressing the world while standing among the dead, stated that Israel’s targeting of al-Ahli Hospital signaled a decisive shift, marking the moment when its assault on Gaza “stopped being a war, and became a genocide.”

57 Groups To Senate: No More Weapons For Israel’s War

Washington, DC — On Monday, Demand Progress and a coalition of 56 other progressive, faith-based, humanitarian, and foreign policy advocacy groups launched the No More Weapons for Israel’s War campaign. This month, for the first time ever, the U.S. Senate will hold yes-or-no votes on arms sales to Israel. The grassroots campaign will drive their millions of supporters to call on senators to support Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs) that could block transfers of certain offensive weapons like tank and artillery shells and Joint Direct Attack Munitions to the Israeli military.

United Nations Finds 70 Percent Of Gaza Deaths Women And Children

The majority of the casualties in Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip have been women and children, according to a report released on 8 November by the UN Human Rights Office. According to the report, nearly 70 percent of the confirmed number of dead are women and children, which “demonstrates an apparent indifference to the death of civilians and the impact of the means and methods of warfare selected.” It also marks a “a systematic violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law,” the report said. It notes that 80 percent of the deaths took place in residential buildings or in homes.

Israel’s Genocide Day 398: Israel Admits It Is Depopulating North Gaza

Israel announced on Thursday that it will expand its offensive on north Gaza, which has been ongoing since October 5. According to the Israeli army, military operations that have largely taken place in Jabalia refugee camp will expand to Beit Lahia. On Tuesday, a spokesperson of the Israeli army, Yitzhak Cohen, said in a press briefing that the army has come close to the complete “evacuation” of the population of north Gaza. The army spokesperson said that Palestinian residents of the north will not be allowed to return to their homes. This declaration marks the first official Israeli admission of the intent to permanently expel Palestinians from north Gaza.

The Palestinian Struggle’s Necessary Realignment

Over the last year, Palestine has been irrevocably changed in ways that, for many of us, were once inconceivable. Since the beginning of the genocide, the Israeli regime has killed over 50,000 Palestinians in Gaza — an estimate provided by the Palestinian Ministry of Health that includes over 6,000 unidentified bodies in the ministry’s possession and an additional 10,000 assumed to be still buried under the rubble. Devastatingly, some will never be retrieved. Meanwhile, a July article in The Lancet medical journal on the importance of accounting for Gaza’s fatalities argued that a conservative estimate of total deaths in conflict scenarios equated to “four indirect deaths per one direct death.”

A Third Party Perspective On The Rightward Lurch Of The US Body Politic

The chickens that the Democrats hatched in 2016 came home to roost in 2024. Back then, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), representing the party’s establishment, promoted Donald Trump as the Republican nominee. They thought him to be an easy mark who would be opposed by both the Republican Party establishment and most US voters. That stratagem turned out to be correct about the Republican establishment but wrong about the electorate. In any case, Trump went on to not only capture the GOP but the archaic Electoral College as well.

Criminalizing UNRWA: How Israel Is Delegitimizing The United Nations

On October 28, the Israeli Knesset passed a second reading of two bills that effectively ban the United Nations agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) from carrying out “any activity” in Israel and occupied Palestine. Simply put, the decision is catastrophic, because UNRWA is the main international body responsible for the welfare of millions of Palestinians throughout the occupied territories, and throughout much of the region. Israel followed its decision by attacking and damaging an UNRWA office in the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. It was the Israeli government’s way of demonstrating its seriousness regarding the matter.

Turmoil At The ICC As Fears Rise Over Israeli and US Interference

The delay in issuing ICC warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, followed by the replacement of the presiding judge, has raised serious concerns about the court's functioning and possible machinations behind the scenes.

Israel’s Genocide Day 395: Israel Using Hunger As A Weapon Of War

Israeli internal intelligence arrested four Israelis, one of whom works at Netanyahu’s office, for charges of leaking and falsification of classified documents concerning the ongoing war on Gaza, an Israeli court revealed over the weekend. The fabricated documents allegedly leaked by one of Netanyahu’s aides were falsely attributed to the late Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar. The revelations of the recent fabrications repudiate Israeli propaganda claims of Hamas’s alleged intransigence in ceasefire negotiations throughout the war, especially during the last round of negotiations over the summer.
