120 Human Rights Groups Accuse US Of Shielding Israeli War Criminals

A coalition of 120 international human rights organizations and activists has accused the United States of shielding Israeli war criminals by obstructing the enforcement of International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants. This condemnation follows the U.S. vote to impose sanctions on the ICC, undermining its ability to pursue justice against Israeli occupation leaders accused of war crimes. The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the "Anti-ICC Law," a controversial bill that, if ratified, would penalize any foreign entity investigating or prosecuting U.S. citizens or citizens of allied states, including Israel.

Swedish Dockworkers Vote To Block Military Shipments For Israel

In a resounding display of international solidarity, members of the Swedish Dockworkers Union (SDU) voted by 68 percent in December to block the handling of military shipments to and from Israel. The Swedish government continues to trade arms with Israel. Exports are relatively small, totaling $4.5 million in 2023, but imports are much more significant: the Swedish defence forces have signed contracts to import more than $200 million in arms from Israel, including from two of Israel’s largest arms companies, Elbit and Rafael—both implicated in supplying weaponry used in Gaza.

Activists Demand Denver Divest From Investments In Israel

Denver, CO — The first Denver City Council meeting of the new year on January 6 was met with dozens of activists calling for the city to divest from Israel and pass a resolution demanding a permanent and enforceable Gaza ceasefire. During the 30-minute public comment session, the activists used two three-minute allotted times to concurrently read aloud the demands within the resolution they were seeking. This was not the first time pro-Palestinian activists have asked for a ceasefire resolution from the city. In January 2024, council members Shontel Lewis and Sarah Parady, in collaboration with their constituents, co-sponsored a resolution which ended up being voted down the next month.

Palestine Action Has A New Company In Its Sights

Palestine Action Scotland targeted the offices of military parts manufacturer Parker Hannifin at its Glasgow production facility overnight on Monday 13 January, damaging the building and covering it in red paint, which it said was ‘symbolic of the Palestinian blood on the hands of the company’. The building on Seaford Road South, which Parker Hannifin describes as a ‘state-of-the-art production facility’ for its Parker Prädifa technology division, had multiple windows smashed during the nighttime action. Its walls and signage, as well as the interior of the building, were sprayed with red paint.

Despite Repression, Campus Movement For Palestine Remains Strong

This December and January, 50 protestors are facing arraignment for their May 15, 2024 arrests at a University of California Irvine (UCI) protest opposing the Gaza genocide. The hushed arraignments of student protestors and their supporters is just one node in the network of quiet repression spindling across university campuses this past fall, which includes banning students from campus and using punishments to chill student speech. One of those set to be arraigned is Dr. Tiffany Willoughby-Herard, who was arrested while supporting student protests, effectively nullifying her university-required de-escalation training by the violent force of her arrest.

Israel, US, UK Launch First Joint Attack On Houthi Targets

Sanaa, Yemen - Israel, the US, and Britain on Friday carried out their first coordinated attack on Houthi targets in Yemen, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation reported. Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV also reported that a series of airstrikes targeted the vicinity of the Al-Sabeen Square in the Yemeni capital Sanaa. The attack coincided with a rally in support of Palestine amid Israel’s 16-month-old continuing genocidal war on Gaza. Additionally, the Houthis reported six airstrikes on the port city of Al-Hudaydah in western Yemen. Al-Masirah later reported: “An American-British assault targeted the Harf Sufyan district in the governorate of Amran with 12 airstrikes.”

Health Workers In Brussels Demand Release Of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya

Health workers worldwide are demanding the release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital, who was abducted by Israeli armed forces during the recent siege on northern Gaza’s health centers. Doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and health activists organized rallies in Canada, Europe, and the United States around January 6, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the protection of Palestinian health workers’ fundamental rights. In Brussels, a rally was organized by Health Workers for Palestine, Viva Salud, and United for Palestine (Unis pour la Palestine, UPP) near the European Parliament.

Brazilian Court Orders Police Probe Into Vacationing Israeli Soldier

A Brazilian federal court has ordered police to open an immediate investigation into an Israeli soldier accused of committing war crimes in Gaza who is currently on vacation in the country. According to the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), a Belgium-based NGO supporting Palestinian rights, the federal court of Brazil's federal district, citing Article 88 of the Brazilian Code of Criminal Procedure, “directed the Federal Police to urgently execute the investigative measures requested by the Federal Prosecutor.” HRF said the court order “marks the first instance of a signatory state to the Rome Statute directly enforcing its provisions without relying on the International Criminal Court (ICC),” adding that it sets a “powerful precedent” for nations that adhere to international law to hold the perpetrators of the genocide in Gaza accountable for their actions.

Coalition Wins Victory For The BDS Movement In California

Organizers and workers from across Alameda County, California, scored a major victory for the BDS movement on December 10th, successfully pressuring the Board of Supervisors to vote to develop an ethical investment policy that, when implemented, could move tens of millions of dollars in investments out of companies profiting off of Israel’s genocide and system of apartheid. The County Treasurer, who is an independent elected official, also announced that he had already dropped $12 million in bonds in Caterpillar (CAT), which directly profits from Israeli apartheid and the ongoing genocide, after sustained organizing from county residents and organizations requesting him to do so. He further pledged to dump the county’s remaining CAT bond, worth $20 million.

On Christmas Day, Palestine Action Break The Walls Of Elbit’s UAV Engines

From 12.30PM on Christmas day, Palestine Action begun breaking through the walls of Elbit’s UAV Engines’ (UEL) Shenstone drone factory. Palestine Action have repeatedly targeted the Lynn Lane production site, and today, from within two buckets attached to two cherry pickers, a dedicated team of activists are using demolition tools to target the factory walls. The drivers have secured themselves inside the two vehicles, using lock-ons to remain in position, allowing more time to put the Israeli weapons maker out of commission.

Bringing Gaza Home

In Ft. Wayne, Indiana, this September, I was arrested with a long-time activist friend, Cliff Kindy, for blocking the entrance to a Raytheon Corp. facility. We both requested jury trials and the dates were set for mid-December and early January. Prosecutors dropped the charges in each case and the trials did not happen. For my defense, I planned to bring Gaza home to jurors from Allen County, home to Ft. Wayne, with wire service photos and by extrapolating the effects of the U.S.-Israeli genocide in Palestine to their own county.

Across The Middle East, The BDS Movement Is Thriving

In the bustling streets of Cairo, a bold banner hangs outside the Writers’ Syndicate, confronting passersby with a piercing statement: “Every pound you spend on their products returns as a bullet in your brother’s back.” This message critiques the economic and political ties between the listed multinational products and Israel. The visual captures the spirit of a region-wide movement, where ordinary people are transforming everyday choices into acts of defiance against forces that fuel war and perpetuate conflict.

Minnesotans Rally For An End To Genocide This Christmas

Minneapolis, Minnesota – On Saturday December 21 close to 100 people rallied in downtown Minneapolis to say, “All we want for Christmas is an end to the genocide.” The rally was organized by the Minnesota Peace Action Coalition and took place across the street from the WCCO TV studios, within sight of the Minneapolis Holidazzle Celebration, in the Nicollet Mall district of downtown. Fourteen months into Israel’s genocide in Palestine the death toll has reached over 45,000 people, and attacks on civilians, their homes and refugee camps continue to be a daily occurrence.

Gaza – A Children’s Graveyard; Three Arrested!

Why must we tell our government that murdering children and conducting a genocide is wrong, against the law and a crime against humanity? Our Resistance Solidarity included Veterans For Peace, Up-State Drone Action, Peace Action, Jewish Voice For Peace, Pax Christi NYS, Downtown Berrigan Collective - Ithaca, and Students For Justice in Palestine. Concerned citizens of NYS dug a grave for the children of Gaza at the Federal Building in Syracuse, NY on December 9, 2024. . On December 9, 1948 the UN adopted the Conventions against genocide unanimously.

No More Research For Genocide At MIT

On November 7th, we published an op-ed titled “Daniela Rus, The People Demand: No More Research for Genocide” in the MIT Tech. Our piece detailed how Prof. Daniela Rus, director of MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, uses Israeli Ministry of Defense money to develop algorithms with applications in “multirobot security defense and surveillance.” Rather than engage with these publicly verifiable facts, the Tech’s editorial board (under the guidance of Prof. Rus) retracted our op-ed. MIT sent several of us “no contact” and “no harassment” orders for Prof. Rus, disciplining one student for simply writing our Op-Ed’s title on a public chalkboard!
