Dr. Gabor Maté: This Is Genocide

It's one of those situations where somebody who deals with trauma in my work and who and speaks so much, and words really are my metier, the words fail me at this point. It's difficult to explain how I perceive the situation but in a certain deep sense, I feel that it's the worst thing I've seen in my whole life. It's impossible to compare atrocities - I mean nothing compares with the mechanized murder of five, six million Jews by the Nazis. What can compare to the slaughter of three million Vietnamese civilians by the Americans; the many murders and mass killings that are not even reported in the Western press such as the Indian-Asian Genocide in East Timor...

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 26: Gaza’s Only Cancer Hospital Closes

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been left once again with no moment to breathe, rushing from one area to another in an attempt to identify their relatives killed in Israeli air strikes, in many cases, digging through the rubble with their own bare hands. That was the scene on Wednesday, November 1, in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, as Israel entered its 26th day of aerial bombardment on the tiny besieged Gaza Strip. Just one day after Israel carried out another massive bombing campaign on Gaza’s largest refugee camp – Israel bombed the densely packed area again. On Wednesday, Israeli warplanes bombed the Faluja neighborhood in Jabalia.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 25: Israel Bombs Refugee Camp

On Tuesday afternoon dozens of Palestinians were killed in the vicinity of the Indonesian Hospital in the Jabalia area of the northern Gaza Strip, when Israel dropped six bombs, each weighing a ton of explosives. Al-Jazeera reported that an entire neighborhood in the center of Jabalia refugee camp was destroyed and victims include women and children. “More than 50 martyrs and around 150 wounded and dozens under the rubble, in a heinous Israeli massacre that targeted a large area of homes in Jabalia camp in the northern [Gaza] Strip,” Gaza’s health ministry said in a statement. The hospital director said that they saw burn injuries and disfigurements of the bodies and that they could not fully count the number of people killed.

Israeli Ground Attack Foiled, Gaza Genocide Goes On

Palestinian resistance have thwarted several Israeli incursions into Gaza strip, as Israeli warplanes ramped up strikes against civilians in the besieged enclave. Hamas Palestinian resistance group announced on Saturday, October 28, the failure of the Israeli ground attack, saying significant losses were inflicted upon the occupation forces. “The enemy fell into ambushes set up by the Palestinian resistance on three fronts,” Hamas announced in a statement, adding that resistance fighters used Kornet anti-tank missiles and Yassin shells against occupation forces. The Israeli occupation used helicopters to evacuate the wounded and the dead from the battlefield, Hamas stated.

The Gaza Manifesto: Why America’s Old Middle East Is Crumbling

History will not forgive those who have remained silent, exhibited or expressed ‘balanced’ positions – or worse, defended Israel’s ongoing genocide in an already besieged, impoverished and overcrowded Gaza. This is not a cliché declaration, but a desperate attempt aimed at jolting the world, especially the Western world, to show a degree of morality as Palestinians are dying in their thousands, as the pulverized bodies of children are scattered in every neighborhood in Gaza. No, this is about history. Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, Washington and its Western allies wanted to impose a new history on the Middle East, in fact, the Muslim world

Exterminate All The Brutes

Genocide lies at the core of Western imperialism. It is not unique to Israel. It is not unique to the Nazis. It is the building block of Western domination. The humanitarian interventionists who insist we should bomb and occupy other nations because we embody goodness — although they promote military intervention only when it is perceived to be in our national interest — are useful idiots of the war machine and global imperialists. They live in an Alice-in-Wonderland fairytale where the rivers of blood we spawn make the world a happier and better place. They are the smiley faces of genocide. You can watch them on your screens.

The ‘Genocide Moment’

Israel's systematic and wanton destruction of Gaza has raised long-standing issues of its political and legal culpability over the treatment of Palestinians to a new level of seriousness.  It obviously poses familiar issues of Israeli war crimes, and Amnesty International had already clearly designated it as such after just the first week. The human rights organization also asked the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to “urgently expedite” its investigation of the aims of all parties. But this Israeli campaign now poses the even graver issue of genocide of Palestinians as a nation. The utter devastation of Gaza and the vast numbers of civilians facing death from bombardment and from deliberately engineered starvation and sickness already presents the world with a spectacle of mass murder of unspeakable proportions.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 24: Israel Enters Second Phase Of Its War

On Monday afternoon, Israel began the second phase of its war on Gaza, which continues to unfold after Israeli bombardment continued from Sunday night and into Monday morning, reportedly focusing on the north of the Gaza Strip, where Israeli forces have attempted to advance. The bombardment killed dozens of people.  Both Hamas and Israel reported Israeli army tanks approaching the outskirts of Gaza City, where witnesses told AFP they blocked an essential road that links the north of the Gaza Strip to the south. Similarly, Al Jazeera reported that Israeli tanks are dividing Gaza into two parts after their incursion towards Salah al-Din Street, a vertical road running through Gaza.

South Africa: United Nations Forces To Gaza Now

The South African government on Monday urged the United Nations to deploy a rapid protection force to protect the Palestinian population in the besieged Gaza Strip from further Israeli bombardment. “All countries genuinely committed to a rules-based system underpinned by international law must act immediately,” the South African foreign ministry said in a statement, adding: “The numbers of non-combatants killed, especially the numbers of children killed, requires the world to show that it is serious about global accountability.” In the statement, Pretoria called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for violating international law, while decrying the number of children killed in the war.

When The Journalists Are Gone, The Stories Will Disappear

Every few hours we check the social media timeline of Muhammed Smiry, the Gaza-based Palestinian journalist. He has been walking the ruined streets of Gaza, documenting everyday life amidst Israeli bombs and the impact they have had on Palestinian life. Close to seven thousand Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli barrage, and any one of them could have been Muhammed. “I am still alive,” he wrote on October 10. A few days later, Muhammed wrote, “I am still alive. I can’t tell you how bad the situation is in Gaza.” On Telegram, Muhammed wrote, “Nowhere is safe in Gaza.” His Telegram timeline is horrifying – so many killed here, so many killed there. It is unrelenting.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 22: Total Blackout In Gaza

Already plunged in the dark after Israel cut electricity access at the beginning of the onslaught, Gaza has now lost nearly all of its internet connectivity, internet and cybersecurity watchdog Netblocks confirmed on Friday evening, as cell towers for Paltel, the last remaining major operator standing in Gaza, were believed to be hit. Various reports seem to indicate that access to the internet in northern Gaza is almost completely gone, while communications out of southern Gaza are severely affected. Palestinian Authority Minister of Telecommunications Ishaq Sidr confirmed on Saturday that Israeli bombardments had hit the last two points designated for international connection with the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s Genocide In Gaza Provokes Region-Wide Responses

Ever since the beginning of the current round of Israeli bombardments inside Gaza, the US has maintained that it is necessary to restrict the violence inside the Palestinian territories. The US fears that any regional escalation will harm its geo-political interests including its presence there and may kill all prospects of the normalization of Arab-Israel relations. The point was repeated during the repeated visits of the top US officials in the region including the US President Joe Biden.  In the very first week of Israeli bombing, the US deployed its warships in the region openly warning the Lebanese resistance force, Hezbollah, to not interfere.

Something Has Snapped

The Zionist grip on the political and media class is stark. Ordinary citizens are left with feelings ranging from rage to deep sorrow, but with a feeling of helplessness at having no power and no genuine voice in the country where they live. The bought-and-paid-for politicians intone “Israel’s right to self-defence” as justifying the slaughter of any number of Palestinian children. They pretend they do not see the obvious genocide which is happening before their eyes. The Guardian’s framing of the death of hundreds, probably thousands, of young children Friday night, as destruction of Hamas tunnels, ought to be astonishing. Sadly it is entirely unsurprising.

Internal Strife Grows In Israel Over Gaza Ground Invasion

Israeli army leaders are at odds with government officials over “how, when, and even whether to” launch a much-anticipated ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, multiple US and Israeli officials revealed to the New York Times (NYT). Although army leaders have for days said their troops are ready to enter the besieged coastal enclave, government officials are concerned that the invasion “might suck the Israeli Army into an intractable urban battle" and open a “broader conflict” with Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon. “There is also debate over whether to conduct the invasion through one large operation or a series of smaller ones.
