Genocide

Israel’s Genocide Is Big Business

The Financial Times revealed this month that a cabal of Israeli investors, one of the world’s top business consulting groups and a think-tank headed by former British prime minister Tony Blair had been secretly working on plans to exploit the ruins of Gaza as prime real estate. The secret consortium appears to have been seeking practical ways to realise US President Donlad Trump’s “vision” of Gaza as the “Riviera of the Middle East”: transforming the small coastal enclave into a playground for the rich and an enticing investment opportunity, once it can be ethnically cleansed of its Palestinian population.

Israeli-Made Famine In Gaza Reaches Critical Point

At least 15 Palestinians died of starvation in Gaza over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll from hunger and malnutrition to 101 since the start of the genocide, including 89 children, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry on July 22. “This is a silent massacre. The Ministry of Health holds the Israeli occupation and the international community fully responsible. We urgently call for the immediate opening of all crossings to allow the entry of food and medicine,” the ministry said. Euro-Med Monitor reported that one Palestinian died of hunger every 80 minutes on Sunday, accusing Israel of pursuing “a systematic starvation policy against 2 million residents.”

Israeli Soldiers Fear Prosecution Over Genocide In Gaza

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has left soldiers serving in the occupation army “afraid” to return “home”, fearing prosecution for war crimes committed during the ongoing assault which has killed more than 58,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. In Canada, where several citizens have served in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), a growing number of those soldiers are reported to be reconsidering trips home after learning they may be under investigation. In June, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed it had launched a “structural investigation” into crimes committed during the Gaza assault.

Attempts At Sabotage Of Flotilla Ship ‘Handala’ Hours before Sailing To Gaza

Mere hours before the Gaza flotilla ship Handala was to sail with 21 participants on board, in the Italian port of Gallipoli, two attempts to sabotage the ship were made. The Freedom Flotilla coalition stated in its Instagram: “Just hours before departure, the ‘Handala’ faced two alarming incidents: a rope wrapped around the propeller and a delivery labeled as water that contained a corrosive chemical, injuring crew members. These may be calculated attempts to harm us and stop our mission. We will not be intimidated. We sail for the children of Gaza—against siege, starvation, and slaughter. We sail to break Israel’s illegal blockade and deliver life-saving aid and hope.

Israeli Youth Burn Their IDF Draft Orders To Protest Gaza War

An Israeli human rights activist called Itamar Greenberg recently captured a protest in Tel Aviv showcasing Israeli youth burning their IDF draft orders in protest of the ongoing aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023. The video circulating on X (formerly known as Twitter) garnered hundreds of thousands of views on the social media platform, with many fellow activists praising the protestors for their courage and bravery. Burning the IDF draft orders showcases the activists' refusal to take part in Israel's ongoing aggression on Gaza.

Hague Group Confronts Israel Over Gaza

Collective measures to confront Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people have been agreed by 12 nations after an emergency summit of the Hague Group in Bogota, Colombia. A joint statement adopted on Wednesday announced the six measures, which it said were geared to holding Israel to account for its crimes in Palestine and would operate within the states’ domestic legal and legislative frameworks. The 12 countries agreeing are Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Indonesia, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Namibia, Nicaragua, Oman, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and South Africa.

Brazil To Join South Africa’s Complaint Against ‘Israel’ At International Court Of Justice

According to Folha de S. Paulo, Brazil will formally request to participate in the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Tel Aviv. The Brazilian news outlet stated that the complaint before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) seeks to have the actions committed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip recognized as genocide. South Africa filed a case at the ICJ in 2023, accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The complaint, rooted in the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, alleges that Israel’s military operations since October 2023 have targeted the Palestinian population with the intent to destroy their group in whole or in part.

Concentration Camps Are Back; Why Does That Not Bother Anyone?

Israel has soft-launched its concentration camp in Rafah, and Donald Trump has hard-launched Alligator Alcatraz, while other countries look the other way. Israel has made it clear that anyone who does not make their way to the new concentration camp, on what used to be Rafah city, will become a legitimate target for elimination. Just to be clear, though. At no point so far has Israel needed a legitimate justification for eliminating anyone. They have done what they want, to whom they want, from the start. Israel could not have made their intentions clearer – ethnic cleansing. And still, Western Government are supporting it – providing weapons and support and pretending they don’t see the long list of war crimes because little Netanyahu might throw a temper tantrum.

Freedom Flotilla To Sail Again With New Mission

Only weeks after the crew of the boat Madleen was intercepted and abducted in international waters by Israeli occupation forces, the Freedom Flotilla coalition is preparing to set sail again. The Handala, carrying essential supplies including food and medicines, will begin its voyage from Italy on July 13, with 18 crew members on board, including trade unionists and parliamentarians such as US labor organizer Christian Smalls, French MEP Emma Fourreau, and MP Gabrielle Cathala. Michele Borgia, spokesperson for Freedom Flotilla Italy, told Peoples Dispatch that beyond the Flotilla’s consistent message of solidarity with the Palestinian people under siege, this mission has an additional focus: the children of Gaza.

Gaza Ceasefire Talks Collapse Over Israel’s Occupation Demands

Indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israeli officials hit a deadlock in Doha, as Palestinian and Israeli sources say the talks are faltering over the scope of the proposed Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza. The discussions are based on a US-backed framework for a 60-day ceasefire and the phased release of Israeli captives, but key issues remain unresolved. Hamas reportedly rejected Israeli-proposed maps that would leave 40 to 45 percent of the territory under occupation, including all of southern Rafah as well as parts of northern and eastern Gaza.

Why Would The Tiny Nation, Palau, Be Complicit In Israeli Genocide?

Why would the tiny western Pacific island nation of Palau with a population of only 21,862 allow itself to be complicit in the Israeli genocide of three times its own population, now over 60,000 Palestinians killed by the Israeli military in Gaza and tens of thousands of Palestinians unaccounted for under the rubble? I doubt if anyone in Palau realizes what the Palau government did in their name to make them complicit in a genocide. The question of complicity in the genocide swirls around who made the decision and why for Palau to take away the certification and flag of Gaza bound ship "Conscience, " a ship that had had the Palau certification for over twelve months.

Spain And Ireland Join More Than 20 States To Declare ‘Concrete Measures’ Against Israel

More than 20 countries are convening in Bogota next week to declare “concrete measures against Israel’s violations of international law”, diplomats told Middle East Eye. The “emergency summit” is due to be held on 15-16 July, co-hosted by the governments of Colombia and South Africa as co-chairs of The Hague Group, to coordinate diplomatic and legal action to counter what they describe as “a climate of impunity” enabled by Israel and its powerful allies. The Hague Group is a bloc of currently eight states, launched on 31 January in the eponymous Dutch city with the stated goal of holding Israel accountable under international law.

Workers In Europe Refuse Cargo To Israel

A growing number of logistics and transport workers, along with trade unions across Europe, are taking action against military shipments to Israel as it continues its genocide in the Gaza Strip. One of the most recent examples is the refusal by airport workers in Paris, primarily organized by the trade unions SUD Aérien and CGT Roissy, to deal with military cargo destined for Israel. “As workers in the aviation sector, we categorically refuse to participate, directly or indirectly, in logistical operations that could contribute to the crimes currently being committed in Gaza,” SUD Aérien stated. French workers have also called for similar blockades in other locations, expressing their solidarity with Palestinians.

No Ordinary Solidarity: Inside Chicago’s Hunger Strike For Gaza

Ash Bohrer sat in a wheelchair outside of the Chicago Federal Plaza, where they had been arrested for refusing to leave Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s office hours earlier — and where six Jewish Voice for Peace-Chicago organizers had launched a hunger strike for Gaza 18 days prior. Reflecting on the highlights to that point, Bohrer, a JVP-Chicago organizer and Notre Dame peace studies professor, said it wasn’t the teach-ins, solidarity demonstrations or political wins that came to mind first, but a message they received from a mother in Gaza named Alaa.  “When someone in Chicago chooses to face hunger willingly that is not ordinary solidarity,” she wrote. “It is a profound act of pure humanity.”

Gaza Flotilla Ship ‘Handala’ Sails To Challenge Genocide Of Palestinians

As the genocide of Palestinians continues with the daily massacres of hundreds of starving people being targeted and killed by the Israeli military as they come to attempt to get food, another ship of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla coalition “Handala” is sailing to bring attention to the criminal actions of the State of Israel and its leadership. While President Trump, his cabinet and the US Congress meet with the International Criminal Court (ICC) designated war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, the small ship named Handala and a group of 18 participants is in final preparations for another mission to break the illegal Israeli naval blockade of Gaza and end the genocide.
