UNRWA Vows To Help Palestinians Despite Israeli Ban, Deadly Attacks

Palestinian Territories — Israel has banned the United Nations agency mandated to support Palestinian refugees and designated it a terrorist organization. The United Nations UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has vowed to continue its humanitarian work until unable to do so, despite the ban and having at least 258 staff members killed by Israel and over 650 attacks on their buildings. In October 2024, Israel passed legislation banning UNRWA. The new law went into effect on January 30, 2025, and prohibits UNRWA from operating in Gaza, the occupied West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem.

Spain ‘Major Transit Port’ For Weapons Shipments To Israel

Over 60,000 weapon parts have been transported to Israel via Zaragoza airport in northern Spain since the start of the US–Israeli genocide of Palestinians in October 2023, according to an investigation by Progressive International (PI), the Palestinian Youth Movement, and the American Friends Service Committee. “The evidence indicates that these flights continue to this day,” investigators told elDiario.es, adding that the shipments include “parts and accessories for artillery, rifles, rocket/grenade launchers and machine guns” and “parts and accessories for revolvers and pistols.”

As Winter Storm Approaches, International Coalition Denounces Israel’s Ceasefire Violations

Washington, DC - Strong winter winds and heavy rains, particularly in Northern Gaza, are contributing to the suffering and death of Palestinians as their tents and makeshift living structures break down, blow away or are inundated with mud and floodwaters. One month after the start of the ceasefire that promised 600 aid trucks a day, including fuel, bulldozers for clearing rubble, construction materials, tents and mobile homes, Israel continues to prevent the 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza from receiving these and other necessary supplies such as food, clothing and medicines.

Hamas Leader Says Israeli Ceasefire Violations Aim To Continue Genocide

Developments over the past week have threatened to unravel the tenuous ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Israel has consistently delayed or obstructed the implementation of the major humanitarian stipulations of the agreement guaranteeing the entry of fuel, food, tents, mobile homes, and heavy machinery for the removal of rubble. The first phase of the deal, which is currently ongoing, is supposed to see the entry of 200,000 tents and 60,000 mobile homes, but as of the time of writing, only a fraction has entered, according to the Gaza Government Media Office.

Israeli Soldiers Face Arrests And Travel Bans Worldwide

On January 5, 2025, Yuval Vagdani, an Israeli army reservist, fled Brazil while on vacation after a federal judge in the country opened a war crimes investigation into Vagdani over his alleged involvement in demolishing homes in the besieged Gaza Strip. The Brazilian judge used a legal tool called “universal jurisdiction” to pursue Vagdani. Universal jurisdiction allows governments to prosecute individuals for serious crimes, regardless of where they’ve been committed. The case itself was the result of a complaint filed by the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), a Belgium-based legal group pursuing action against perpetrators, accomplices, and inciters of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Palestine.

These Seven Banks Have Supplied Israel’s Genocide In Gaza

Seven US and European investment banks have been propping up Israel’s brutal genocide in Gaza to the tune of nearly $20bn. And a certain notorious company in particular is dripping in bankrolling complicity: Goldman Sachs. A new investigation has revealed the scale of seven financial institutions role financing Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Netherlands-based financial research group Profundo conducted the vital new research, with Dutch NGOs BankTrack and PAX have publishing its critical findings. Significantly, the groups have uncovered that a small number of investment banks have played a crucial role in helping Israel meet the “significant funding needs” for its genocidal assault on Gaza.

Netanyahu’s Ultimatum: Resume Release Of Captives Or Genocide Restarts

“The current stage must be a stage of Arab and Islamic unity in the face of US arrogance. Arab unity will thwart the US approach towards Gaza … We affirm the principle of supporting the Palestinian people militarily, politically, and in the media,” he went on to say. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened to return to “intensive fighting” in Gaza if Hamas does not reverse its decision to suspend the next round of captive releases as part of the ceasefire deal. “If Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday at noon, the ceasefire will end, and the Israeli army will return to intensive fighting until Hamas is completely defeated.”

Resistance From Within: US Military Members Oppose War Crimes

The United States' support for the genocide in Palestine, especially since the launch of Operation Al Aqsa Flood in October 2023, has led federal employees and active duty military members to take action in opposition to violations of domestic and international law. Clearing the FOG speaks with two members of the US Air Force, Juan Bettancourt and Joy Metzler, who have applied for conscientious objector status. Together with Larry Hebert, who conducted a hunger strike in front of the White House last year, they created Servicemembers for Ceasefire to provide a space for members of the military to question US foreign policy. Bettancourt and Metzler describe their journeys, the level of dissent within the military and the deployment of US troops domestically.

Hold Israel Accountable Under The UN Convention On The Rights Of The Child

A so-called “ceasefire” has done nothing to halt the ongoing genocide of Palestinians. Israel’s government is escalating policies that jeopardize the very lives of Palestinian children, and powerful nations are complicit through their silence or direct endorsement. Even now, terror and bloodshed continue in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, while the U.S. administration signals tacit support for what amounts to ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Under the Biden administration, sanctions were imposed on extremist Israeli settlers—17 individuals and 16 entities over 11 months—to curb violence against Palestinians.

Brussels Parliament To Recognize Israel’s War On Gaza As Genocide

The March 30 Movement, which has long advocated for the Palestinian cause, stated that the historic step was adopted on February 3. This comes as the movement’s electoral initiative during the 2024 campaign, Viva Palestina, focused on one key demand: for the Brussels Parliament to officially recognize the genocide in Gaza and take concrete action. Throughout the campaign, Viva Palestina engaged extensively in debates with political parties, applied pressure to push them to take a stance, and mobilized public opinion. With the resolution adopted at the commission level, the March 30 Movement urged all Belgian parties to vote in its favor in the plenary session, ensuring that Brussels continues to lead by example in the fight for justice and human rights.

The Western Way Of Genocide

Gaza is a wasteland of 50 million tons of rubble and debris. Rats and dogs scavenge amid the ruins and fetid pools of raw sewage. The putrid stench and contamination of decaying corpses rises from beneath the mountains of shattered concrete. There is no clean water. Little food. A severe shortage of medical services and hardly any habitable shelters. Palestinians risk death from unexploded ordnance, left behind after over 15 months of air strikes, artillery barrages, missile strikes and blasts from tank shells, and a variety of toxic substances, including pools of raw sewage and asbestos.

Revenue Of Weapons Manufacturers Continues To Rise

US weapon manufacturers and military contractors registered an unprecedented increase in sales of arms and military services in 2024, according to a US State Department fact sheet. This made 2024 one of the most profitable years ever, in large part thanks to wars in Ukraine and Gaza as well as the military build up around China. According to the figures released by the US State Department, the total revenue from arms sales in 2024 reached a record USD 318.7 billion registering a 29% increase from the previous year. The top US military contractors include Lockheed Martin, Raytheon (RTX), and General Dynamics, among others.

Palestine Action Applying Heat To Another Genocide-Complicit Company

On Monday 3 February, Palestine Action targeted yet another new firm complicit in Israel’s genocide in Gaza – this time, a well-known household name. Biffa Limited. Overnight, activists from Palestine Action Scotland targeted the Glasgow and Edinburgh premises of Biffa Limited. They smashed windows, spray-painted ‘Drop Leonardo’, and covered the sites in red paint to symbolise the company’s complicity with spilling Palestinian blood. Biffa Limited dispose of hazardous waste for Leonardo and Thales, two weapons companies based in Scotland which arm Israel.

The Life Expectancy Of Palestinians Fell By 11.5 Years

The idea of a ceasefire is as old as the idea of war. In old records, one reads of halts in firing for humans to eat or sleep. Rules of combat developed out of an understanding that both sides had to rest or refresh themselves. Sometimes, this understanding included the lives of animals. During the Easter Rising in 1916, for instance, the Irish rebels and the British troops stopped their shooting around St. Stephen’s Green in Dublin so that James Kearney, the park keeper, could enter and feed the ducks. It was this caesura, or pause, of gunfire that popularised the term ‘ceasefire’.

Nations Launch Legal Action Against Israel At The Hague

Nine nations are set to meet today, January 31, 2025, in The Hague, Netherlands, launching The Hague Group with the goal of holding Israel accountable for its alleged violations of international law in the Gaza Strip. The nations aim to announce coordinated legal, economic, and diplomatic measures as part of their commitment to uphold Palestinian rights. The historic meeting, convened by the Progressive International, will bring together representatives from Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Malaysia, Namibia, Senegal, and South Africa.
