Labour Just Banned Israel From The UK’s Biggest Arms Fair

The Labour Party government has now confirmed that it has decided to bar Israel’s official delegation from taking part in the UK’s largest arms fair. Israel had been planning to attend the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) in London this September. While campaigners have welcomed the news, they’ve also slammed the UK government for its “cowardly” handwringing – since it was actually the Israeli government that pulled its country pavilion from the event. The Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) opens at London’s ExCeL centre on 9 September. DSEI takes place biennially. Its website has been indicating the presence of a dedicated Israeli country pavilion.

Yemen Confirms Prime Minister Killed In Israeli Strike On Sanaa

A Houthi official has vowed “vengeance” against Israel after the Yemeni group confirmed that an Israeli air strike earlier this week killed the prime minister of the Houthis’ government in the capital, Sanaa. Ahmed al-Rahawi was killed in a Thursday strike on Sanaa along with “several” other ministers, the Houthis said in a statement on Saturday. Al-Rahawi, who served as prime minister in areas of the divided country that the group controls, was targeted along with other members of the Houthi-led government during a workshop, the statement said. The Houthis did not specify how many other ministers were also killed in the Israeli attack.

CUNY Classes Begin With Divestment Win

A new semester is beginning at the City University of New York (CUNY) with the fight against repression and for Palestine at the center. While we are facing intense crackdowns, including the firing of four faculty members over their pro-Palestine activism and the suspension of at least one student, there is also a movement fighting back. Amid these attacks, we’ve also had victories — most recently, a court decision forcing CUNY to disclose its investments in Israel.  As Israel escalates its genocidal campaign in Gaza, including a famine, with full support from the U.S. government, CUNY has targeted faculty who speak out against it. This comes as President Trump intensifies his attacks on immigrants, mobilizes the National Guard in major cities, and escalates a broader assault on democratic rights.

Workers’ Intifada Against Microsoft

As the United Nations’ world food crisis authority finally declared a famine in Gaza, direct action demonstrators protested war profiteer Microsoft, whose technology is used to aid the U.S./Israeli war, which is committing genocide in Gaza. After months of protests in Seattle, on Aug. 20 and 21 worker-led activists took the struggle to Microsoft’s vast campus in Redmond, Washington, where No Azure for Apartheid and Bilyad Seattle exposed Microsoft’s complicity. On Aug. 20, around 35 current and former Microsoft workers and solidarity activists set up a protest encampment on the East Campus Plaza of Microsoft. They claimed it as the Martyred Palestinian Children’s Plaza. They left when Microsoft asked them to leave, but returned the next day and declared their occupation is not going anywhere!

Democratic National Committee Rejects Resolution For Israel Arms Embargo

On Tuesday, Democratic National Committee (DNC) members at the party’s summer meetings rejected Resolution 18, which called for the recognition of a Palestinian state, a ceasefire in Gaza, an arms embargo, and a suspension of military aid to Israel. Instead, members backed a status quo resolution introduced by DNC Chair Ken Martin, which simply called for more aid to be allowed into Gaza and a two-state solution. Despite the support, Martin went on to withdraw the resolution. “I know that there are some who are interested in making changes today, but as we’ve seen, there’s divide in our party on this issue,” said Martin. “This is a moment that calls for shared dialog."

‘Barrack Is An Animal’: Protesters Force US Envoy To Leave South Lebanon

US Envoy Tom Barrack and the US delegation visiting Lebanon canceled a planned trip for a tour in southern Lebanese villages due to protests by supporters of the resistance on 27 August, a day after the envoy insulted journalists at the country’s presidential palace. Several Lebanese media outlets report that Barrack canceled the visit to the south, coinciding with the outbreak of protests in the cities of Tyre (Sur) and Khiam. According to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA), the US envoy arrived in Marjayoun in a Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) helicopter but turned back as calls for protest began. As a result, Lebanese troops deployed across the area.

Iran Demands Concrete International Action To End Israel’s Genocide

Abbas Araghchi, Iranian foreign minister, called for more concrete collective action against Israel, asserting that mere verbal condemnations are no longer enough to prevent its “insatiable” Zionist ambitions to ethnically cleanse Palestinians and expand their occupation in the region. Araghchi reiterated that the Israeli war in Gaza “is not merely a fleeting military conflict or an ordinary humanitarian crisis: it is a systematic, full fledged genocide explicitly intended to achieve ethnic cleansing amid the complicit silence of the US and the West more broadly.” Citing the daily killing of Palestinians seeking humanitarian aid, Araghchi said that Israel has “turned hunger and famine into a new tool of genocide” and “food distribution centers into death traps for hungry women and children”, claiming that the war and genocide in Gaza is amongst the “darkest human tragedies of the modern era”.

A Public Call For Accountability At The Harvard Education Publishing Group

We, the undersigned scholars, educators, and education practitioners write to express our alarm at the Harvard Education Publishing Group’s (HEPG) cancellation of a special issue on Palestine and Education in the Harvard Educational Review (HER). Such censorship is an attempt to silence the academic examination of the genocide, starvation and dehumanisation of Palestinian people by the state of Israel and its allies. As reported by The Guardian, contributing authors of the special issue were informed late into the process that the publisher intended to subject all articles to a legal review by Harvard University’s Office of General Counsel. In response to this extraordinary move, the twenty-one contributing authors submitted a joint letter to both HEPG and HER, protesting this process as a contractual breach that violated their academic freedom.

Norwegian Wealth Fund Drops Caterpillar, Five Israeli Banks

Norway’s $2-trillion sovereign wealth fund, the world’s largest, announced on 25 August that it has dropped US-based construction and mining equipment manufacturer Caterpillar and five Israeli banks over their involvement in rights abuses in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. The banks – Hapoalim, Leumi, Mizrahi Tefahot, First International Bank of Israel, and FIBI Holdings – were cut after the fund’s Council on Ethics warned they posed an “unacceptable risk” of enabling serious violations. The Council said Caterpillar’s machinery has been used by Israeli forces in “extensive and systematic violations of international humanitarian law” through the destruction of Palestinian property.

Gaza Is The Compass: Second Annual People’s Conference For Palestine

For two years, Gaza has been a moral and political compass that has guided so many towards true liberation. Israel, with full US backing and support, is starving 2 million Palestinians, carrying out a plan for mass displacement and ethnic cleansing in both Gaza and the West Bank, and continuously bombing and shooting Palestinians with the number of martyrs rising daily. Israel’s brutality, though gruesome and with the ultimate price being paid by Palestinians in Gaza, resembles more the last thrashes of a dying beast, than it does a mighty force. Zionism itself is facing an existential crisis. Around the world, Israel’s murderous rampage has given it a spotlight for international scrutiny and has turned Zionism into a pariah among the world’s masses.

Australia: Tens Of Thousands Rally To Demand Sanctions On Israel

Tens of thousands of Australians rallied in more than 40 cities and towns on Sunday to protest Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, with participants calling for sanctions on Tel Aviv, local broadcaster SBS reported, Anadolu reports. Palestine Action Group organizers said the demonstrations aimed to pressure the federal government to sanction Israel and impose an arms embargo. Josh Lees, a rally organizer, estimated crowds of “about 40,000 here in Sydney, 50 or 60,000 in Melbourne, 10,000 in Hobart, thousands in Perth and Brisbane and everywhere else.” In Brisbane, police put the turnout at 10,000, while organizers claimed closer to 50,000.

Dutch Foreign Minister Quits Over Cabinet Refusal To Punish Israel

Dutch foreign minister Caspar Veldkamp resigned on 22 August after he failed to secure harsher sanctions against Israel during a cabinet meeting with fellow ministers. “I see that I am insufficiently able to take meaningful additional measures to increase pressure on Israel,” Veldkamp said after a cabinet meeting of the caretaker government in which the Gaza genocide was debated. Veldcamp is a member of the centrist New Social Contract (NSC) party, which rules the Netherlands as part of a coalition with the center-right People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the populist Farmer-Citizen Movement (BBB). Veldcamp said the steps he had proposed were “seriously discussed.” However, he failed to win the support of NSC’s coalition partners.

Israel’s Assassination Of Memory

As Israel ticks off its list of Nazi-like atrocities against the Palestinians, including mass starvation, it prepares for yet another – the demolition of Gaza City, one of the oldest cities on Earth. Heavy engineering equipment and gigantic armored bulldozers are tearing down hundreds of heavily damaged buildings. Cement trucks are churning out concrete to fill tunnels. Israeli tanks and fighter jets pummel neighborhoods to drive Palestinians who remain in the ruins of the city to the south. It will take months to turn Gaza City into a parking lot. I have no doubt Israel will replicate the efficiency of the Nazi SS Gen. Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski, who oversaw the obliteration of Warsaw.

How Israel And Ukraine Built A Fascist, Transnational War Machine

From Bandera to Ben-Gurion, echoes of ethno-nationalist revival resonate in the modern trajectories of Ukraine and Israel, two states forged through war, hardened by siege mentalities, and fueled by historical narratives of existential struggle. But these similarities are no accident of parallel development. They reflect a deepening alignment shaped by shared adversaries like Russia and Iran, backed and brokered by the same Western patrons. In 2022, an officer of Ukraine’s Azov Regiment, toured Israel after surviving the siege of Mariupol. By 2025, Israeli drones were flying missions over Rafah, while American-made PSRL-1 rocket launchers, initially supplied to Ukraine, were spotted in conflict zones across the Middle East.

White ‘Supremacy’s’ Subjective Identification Of War Criminals Reveals Deeper Psychopathology

Last week the world witnessed the geopolitical spectacle that took place in Anchorage, Alaska when Presidents Trump and Putin met to discuss ending the feckless, unnecessary, and fossil-fueled war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine that’s been ongoing for three years. Unsurprisingly, the three hour discussion between the leaders led to no comprehensive agreement that would, in Trump’s words, “stop the killing.” However, while the Trump/Putin meeting failed to result in an armistice, it did elucidate profound hypocrisies and revealed that when it comes to who is considered a war criminal it largely depends on who the victims are.
