Oscar-Winning Palestinian Filmmaker ‘Lynched’ By Israeli Settlers

Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal, co-director of the Academy Award-winning documentary film ‘No Other Land,’ was beaten and injured by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank on 24 March before being arrested by Israeli security forces. “A group of settlers just lynched Hamdan Ballal … They beat him, and he has injuries in his head and stomach, bleeding. Soldiers invaded the ambulance he called and took him. No sign of him since,” Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham announced via social media. Dozens of extremist Jewish settlers descended on the Palestinian village of Susiya in the Masafer Yatta area of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank on Monday night, destroying property and attacking civilians, according to the activist group Center for Jewish Nonviolence.

UNRWA ‘Preparing To Close Its Doors’ In Gaza, West Bank

UN officials who spoke with the New York Times (NYT) say that the leading agency providing humanitarian aid for Palestinians is “preparing” to end its operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. “It would be a massive impact on an already catastrophic situation. If that is what the Israeli intention is – to remove any ability for us to save lives – you have to question what is the thinking and what is the end goal?” UN resident and humanitarian coordinator Jamie McGoldrick told the NYT on 2 January. UNRWA is a critical provider of staple necessities and essential services, relied on by thousands of Palestinians for their livelihood and basic needs.

Why Is The Palestinian Authority Killing Palestinians In Jenin?

Following a ten-day siege, the Palestinian Authority began, on December 14, a violent raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank. The PA security forces used similar tactics as used by the Israeli occupation forces in their routine attacks on the area. The camp, which is a mere half a square kilometer in size, hosts an ever-growing population of 24 thousand refugees, mostly the descendants of Palestinians ethnically cleansed by Zionist militias during the great catastrophe, or Nakba, of 1948. The raid began with a tight siege, followed by an attack from multiple directions that resulted in the killing of an unarmed youth, Rebhi al-Shalabi, 19, then a 13-year-old child, Muhammad al-Amer.

Palestinian Demonstrators Are Back In Haifa And Facing Police Oppression

Since Israel’s genocidal attack on Gaza began in October 2023, an all-out attack against Palestinians under Israel’s control elsewhere has been underway as well. In the West Bank, which, together with Gaza and the Syrian Golan Heights, Israel occupied in 1967, there are daily and nightly raids by the occupation army and the settlers. Hundreds have been killed, and almost 10,000 new political prisoners have been taken with many being tortured. In the process, whole communities have been driven from their lands. In the 78% of Palestine that has been occupied since 1948-49, and where those Palestinians that survived the ethnic cleansing are formally citizens of Israel, all democratic rights were suspended as of October 2023 and a terror campaign started against Palestinians.

Massive Israeli Raid Kills At Least 11 Palestinians In Northern West Bank

Massive Israeli military operations in the northern occupied West Bank have killed at least 11 Palestinians since Wednesday, with thousands of Palestinians trapped inside their homes in the Tulkarem refugee camp, as an Israeli army invasion enters its second day. Before dawn on Wednesday morning, January 17, Israeli forces conducted simultaneous raids and drone strikes in the cities of Nablus and Tulkarem. In Nablus, Israeli forces raided the Balata refugee camp in the eastern part of the city, sparking armed confrontations with local armed groups.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 83: Israel Wages West Bank Invasion

As Israel continues their ruthless bombardment campaign against Gaza’s population, its residents are still being denied access to adequate supplies of food, medical supplies, fuel, and other life-saving necessities. Nobody in Gaza is safe. Israel has continued to target everybody, including children, civil defense workers, ambulances, medical facilities, and journalists. Following yet another Israeli attack on the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), this time on their compound in Khan Younis on Tuesday, the International Committee of the Red Cross in Israel and the occupied territories reiterated, “Humanitarian workers, vehicles and buildings must be protected during conflict.”

Palestinian Activist Tied Up, Beaten, And Arrested By Israeli Forces

On Monday morning in the occupied West Bank, just over 15 people of all ages, many still in their pajamas, were piled into Laila al Waraa’s living room in Aida refugee camp, Bethlehem. While the little room belonging to the 69-year-old family matriarch was accustomed to large gatherings, this time was different. It was about 5:00 in the morning, and everyone was trying to piece together what had happened hours before when the Israeli military conducted yet another overnight raid on the refugee camp. Around 3:00 a.m., the Israeli army loudly and without warning broke into her house, where she, her 20-year-old granddaughter, and her 42-year-old son had been asleep.
