Over 150 New York Times Contributors To Boycott Paper Over Gaza Coverage

More than 150 New York Times contributors have signed a pledge not to write for the US newspaper's opinion section, citing its “biased coverage” of the Israel-Palestine conflict and war on Gaza. “Until The New York Times takes accountability for its biased coverage and commits to truthfully and ethically reporting on the US-Israeli war on Gaza, any putative 'challenge' to the newsroom or the editorial board in the form of a first-person essay is, in effect, permission to continue this malpractice,” the signatories to the letter wrote. “Only by withholding our labor can we mount an effective challenge to the hegemonic authority that the Times has long used to launder the US and Israel’s lies,” the writers added.

The Rise Of Global Boycotts Against Israel’s Genocide In Gaza

Protests to end Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinians are getting louder and larger. Seeing the livestreamed genocide Israel perpetrated in Gaza has had an effect globally, with the call to boycott Israel at an all-time high. Quiet boycotts, which started in supermarkets nearly two decades ago, have turned into widely used apps that help millions make choices about purchases. Campus protests and encampments in the US and Canada have led some major education institutions to cut ties with Israeli counterparts, while investments into Israel have dipped, and some of the world’s largest economies have recognised Palestine as a state.

New Yorkers Organize Against Weapons Components Manufacturer

On June 24, 2024, an Israeli airstrike targeted the Al-Daraj clinic in Gaza City, killing five, including key medical personnel. Recovered from the ensuing rubble was the remnant of a Hellfire missile, strewn amidst the chaos of destruction it unleashed on the clinic in moments prior. The AGM-114 Hellfire, a brand of precision-guided weaponry, is manufactured by Lockheed Martin, funded through U.S. federal contracts, and often purchased by Israel through American foreign military sales. While Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor responsible for manufacturing the Hellfire missile, it procures key components from Mini-Circuits, a company specializing in the manufacture of radio frequency (RF) and microwave components.

Trump Visit Met By Popular Protests In Malaysia Over US Backing Israel

Hundreds of people took to the streets in Malaysia on Sunday, October 26, to oppose US President Donald Trump’s visit to the country. Protesters raised slogans in support of the Palestinian resistance and condemned US support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Protesters also opposed various interventionist policies followed by the US across the globe with chants of “down with imperialism” and demanded Malaysia break its ties with it. The call for the demonstration was made by the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM), along with several other organizations who gathered at Kuala Lumpur’s Independence Square and Ampang Park with banners and posters denouncing imperialism and shouting slogans in support of the Palestinian people.

Veterans Condemn Israel’s Blatant Violations Of Gaza Ceasefire

Veterans For Peace unequivocally condemns Israel’s gross violations of the ceasefire in Gaza. We demand that the Trump administration pressure Israel to abide by the ceasefire agreement: to end all attacks on Gazans; and to allow abundant aid (at least 600 trucks a day) into Gaza. We call upon the President and U.S. Congress to cut off all military aid to Israel.     We further call on U.S. political leaders to secure the freedom of Mohammed Ibrahim, a 16-year-old U.S. citizen who was kidnapped from his bed while visiting family in the West Bank last February, and whom Israel continues to hold in a notorious torture prison.   Israel’s gross violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, including aerial bombing and artillery barrages, have killed over 100 Palestinians – including many children – in the first two-and-a-half weeks of the “ceasefire,” causing fear and panic among Gaza’s civilian population.

Four Militias Backed By Israel, Arab States Plan ‘Project New Gaza’

Israel is backing four militias as part of a project to oust Hamas and create a “new Gaza,” according to a report released by Sky News on 25 October. These armed groups – which throughout the war have been engaged in hostilities against Hamas on behalf of Israel – are currently operating along the Yellow Line of Washington’s ceasefire map, in Israeli-held territory. "We have an official project - me, [Yasser] Abu Shabab, [Rami] Khalas, and [Ashraf] al Mansi," militia leader Hossam al-Astal, a Palestinian Bedouin with links to the Palestinian Authority (PA), told Sky News. "We are all for ‘The New Gaza.’ Soon we will achieve full control of the Gaza Strip and will gather under one umbrella,” he added. According to footage which was geolocated by Sky News, the headquarters of Astal’s militia in south Gaza’s Khan Yunis lies on a military road less than 700 meters from an Israeli army outpost.

Trump’s Push To Uphold Gaza Ceasefire Is Creating A Political Crisis In Israel

The succession of U.S. officials arriving in Tel Aviv over the week has fueled consternation in Israeli political circles as Washington ups the pressure on Israel to stick to U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan. Israeli political circles have bristled at having to bend to the American President’s will, as opposition use the opportunity to lambast Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for turning Israel into a “vassal” of the United States. Virtually all of Trump’s inner circle has made the rounds in Tel Aviv throughout the past week, including U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, Vice President JD Vance, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The Voices Of Many Jews

At last, at last, Jews with powerful voices have gathered en masse — a critical mass, I would say — to condemn Israel and the savage spree of murder, starvation and terror it inflicts as we speak upon the Palestinians of Gaza and the Occupied Territories of the West Bank. You may by now be aware of the open letter signed by 450–plus American, European and Israeli Jews and made public this week. In it, this sprawling group of distinguished personages denounces the criminality of the Zionist regime and asserts “the universality of justice and the fair and equal application of international law.” The signatories also call for the international community to impose immediate sanctions on apartheid Israel.

A Tale Of Two Ceasefires: Gaza And DRC

Vice President JD Vance is in Israel, reportedly to see if he can salvage the ceasefire that began on October 10. Hamas has given Israel all 20 living hostages, and turned over the bodies of 13 of 28 dead ones. It says that retrieving the rest is going slowly because of the destruction it has to work around. Israeli forces have largely withdrawn to the negotiated yellow line, which means they still control 58% of Gaza by land area, and according to news reports, they are regularly killing Palestinians who get too close to that yellow line. The number of aid trucks that has entered Gaza since the ceasefire took effect is 85% lower than the negotiated cap, and Israel is still bombing Gaza, claiming it’s responding to lingering armed attacks.

Palestinian NGOs Network Affirms Inalienable Rights

PNGO confirms that despite the ceasefire in Gaza, which was welcomed by all parties, the Israeli occupation and the colonizing settlers are escalating their grave violations against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, where 88 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the ceasefire, and still the aid entering the Gaza Strip has not risen to the level to address the repercussions of the humanitarian catastrophe in quantity and quality, in addition these systematic attacks by the Israeli occupation forces and its colonizing settlers against the Palestinians in the West Bank are resulting in the denial of Palestinian farmers to harvest their olives, which constitutes a continuation of genocide and ethnic cleansing.

Portland’s City Councilors Pledge To Investigate City’s Ties To Israel

A group of Portland lawmakers launched a pledge to investigate the city’s connections to Israeli weapons. The commitment calls for probes into the manufacturing and transport of weapons intended for Israel, as well as other potential connections to the country. “The United States has provided billions of dollars in military funding, weapons, and diplomatic cover to facilitate Israel’s genocide of Palestinians,” reads a press release on the pledge. “The federal Government has utterly failed to uphold their duty to prevent genocide and uphold respect for international humanitarian law, so cities across the United States are mobilizing to ensure that local tax dollars and supply chains do not support criminal warfare and that local weapons manufacturers are held accountable for their role in genocide.”

This Is The Moment To Scale Up Mobilizations For Palestine

It was a great honor to join the “Conscience”, a large ship with 92 participants. We were mainly medics and journalists because we wanted to emphasize that these are the two professions most targeted during the genocide in Gaza. We wanted to show solidarity with our colleagues there. Almost all participants had direct links with people in Gaza through humanitarian work or Palestinian NGOs like Awda Association. Several doctors on board had worked in Gaza during the genocide, and many journalists were in touch with Palestinian citizen journalists and local news agencies. We wanted to reach Gaza to report and to offer medical assistance: that was the core message of the “Conscience”. Normally, in any conflict, humanitarian workers and journalists have access to document conditions and preserve the right to health.

11 Arrested Protesting Minnesota Investment Board’s Israel Ties

Saint Paul, MN – On Tuesday, October 21, the typically quiet Retirement Systems Building was filled with chants of “Free Palestine” as advocates of divestment from Israel staged an all-day sit-in. The building houses the staff offices of the State Board of Investment (SBI), whose long-delayed quarterly meeting was held that morning in an online-only format in the board’s latest effort to avoid Palestine protesters. The SBI is chaired by Governor Tim Walz, joined by Attorney General Keith Ellison, State Auditor Julie Blaha and Secretary of State Steve Simon. Growing numbers of public employees, pension holders and other community members have spoken at quarterly SBI meetings, calling on it to divest state-managed funds from the state of Israel and companies complicit in Israel’s apartheid system and genocide in Gaza.

Deadly Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Lobbying For ‘New Role’ In Gaza

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a deadly aid scheme operating in the Gaza Strip, is in talks with US and Israeli officials about a potential new post-war role in the enclave, the Financial Times (FT) reported on 23 October. The US and Israeli-created GHF began operations in May, but the amount of aid it distributed was negligible for Gaza’s roughly 2 million people, aid groups and some Israeli officials have said. At the same time, Israel sought to cut off aid distribution from the UN and international humanitarian groups in Gaza as part of its effort to starve Palestinians and force them to move to the southern region of the strip. At least 1,000 Palestinians were killed by live fire from Israeli troops while seeking food from GHF sites, which have been described as “death traps.”

International Court Of Justice Condemns Israel’s Restrictions On Humanitarian Aid

On the same day that the Israeli Knesset gave “preliminary approval to a bill to impose Israeli sovereignty on the occupied West Bank”, as Al Jazeera described it, accurately calling it “a move tantamount to annexation of the Palestinian territory, which would be a blatant violation of international law”, over 3,300 km away, in the Hague, the International Court of Justice delivered a blistering condemnation of Israel’s existing failures to “fulfil its obligations under international humanitarian law” as the occupying Power in the Occupied Palestinian Territory; namely, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, first occupied in 1967.
