UK Police Raids Home Of Palestine Action Supporters

Counterterrorism police in the UK arrested five members of Defend Our Juries (DOJ) in dawn raids on 2 September, just hours before the group was due to announce details of a mass protest in London. The press conference, which had been set to confirm that the threshold for Saturday’s action had been met, was postponed until Wednesday after UK police raided the homes of the five DOJ spokespeople, including former government lawyer Tim Crosland and law student Paddy Friend. DOJ said those detained were “key spokespeople,” including former government lawyer Tim Crosland and law student Paddy Friend. Witnesses reported that Friend was arrested under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000 for hosting a Zoom call with campaign members.

September 6 Mass Action To Protest Palestine Action Ban Confirmed

On August 22, Defend Our Juries launched an official online pledge, seeking 1,000 commitments to take part in the next mass action in Parliament Square on 6th September. Over 2,500 people signed up to say they wanted to take part in the next Lift the Ban action before the 6th September date was announced. The action will only go ahead if 1,000 people make this official commitment to ensure a critical mass of people holding “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.” signs on 6th September. The new online tool requires signees to pledge "I am committed to attending the mass-participation sign-holding action on September 6th 2025" and that "I understand that joining this action comes with risk of arrest and other legal consequences".

‘It’s Up To All Of Us’: Doctor Shares Why He Is On Global Sumud Flotilla

I’m a doctor trained in the UK, and for most of the past decade I’ve worked on and off in the international medical humanitarian sector with various organizations. During that time, I’ve also maintained a strong interest in health justice and solidarity movements, and I’ve always followed the work of the People’s Health Movement (PHM). I foremost came to connect with the Global Sumud Flotilla, I guess, because I worked in Gaza during the genocide. I spent about two and a half months there as an emergency doctor, and what I witnessed made it very clear how limited humanitarianism and the liberal political order really are. It’s clear in Gaza, as it should be in many other parts of the world, that we can’t rely on existing political or legal systems to uphold justice, fairness, or equality. Unfortunately, that responsibility often falls to ordinary folks.

Europe Just Made War With Iran More Likely

France, Germany, and the UK (E3) have announced they will trigger snapback sanctions on Iran at the United Nations. This will launch a 30-day process that will likely culminate in the full reinstatement of all U.N. sanctions lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal. The move will carry four major consequences. First, the U.N. Security Council will formally adopt the demand — pushed by Israel — that Iran cease all uranium enrichment. Israel designed this demand to sabotage nuclear diplomacy and edge the conflict toward war. Next, a U.N. arms embargo on Iran will return, potentially curbing Tehran’s ability to rebuild deterrence against future Israeli or American strikes, provided Russia and China treat the snapback as legitimate and enforce it.

Labour Just Banned Israel From The UK’s Biggest Arms Fair

The Labour Party government has now confirmed that it has decided to bar Israel’s official delegation from taking part in the UK’s largest arms fair. Israel had been planning to attend the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) in London this September. While campaigners have welcomed the news, they’ve also slammed the UK government for its “cowardly” handwringing – since it was actually the Israeli government that pulled its country pavilion from the event. The Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) opens at London’s ExCeL centre on 9 September. DSEI takes place biennially. Its website has been indicating the presence of a dedicated Israeli country pavilion.

United Kingdom Endorses Moroccan Control Of Western Sahara

In June, just weeks before home secretary Yvette Cooper proscribed Palestine Action as a terrorist group, the UK government reversed longstanding policy by endorsing Morocco’s autonomy plan over Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony that has been under illegal occupation for 50 years. In a joint communique signed by foreign secretary David Lammy and his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, the UK said the 2007 autonomy plan – which gives the indigenous Sahrawis self-governance under Moroccan sovereignty – was “the most credible, viable and pragmatic basis” to end the years-long conflict between Morocco and the Polisario Front, the political-military movement representing the Sahrawi people.

A Landmark Complaint Vs Pro-Israel Group Silencing Dissent

In February 2023, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital quietly removed a display of artwork from one of its corridors. The artwork, a collection of decorated plates, had been designed by schoolchildren in Gaza. It depicted symbols of peace and the desire for an independent Palestinian state. The plates had been on the walls of the hospital for over a decade, but a strongly worded letter from UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) ensured they were promptly taken down. UKLFI director Caroline Turner was quick to claim victory. “We are pleased that the hospital has responded positively to its patients’ complaints,” she declared.

Another Mass Protest Against Palestine Action Ban Needs 1,000 People

Protesters are gearing up for the next mass ‘Lift The Ban’ demonstration against the Labour Party government’s proscription of Palestine Action – this time, on Saturday 6 September. It’s calling for people to sign up to swamp the Metropolitan Police – and cause maximum embarrassment for the Labour’s bare-faced liar of a home secretary Yvette Cooper. The action aims to push the government to finally ditch the preposterous ban on the non-violent direct action group. Following the Met’s sweep of arrests Saturday 9 August, Defend Our Juries plan to stand up again to the government’s unprecedented proscription of non-violent direct action group Palestine Action.

A Direct Action Group Is Taking Up Palestine Action’s Mantle

On both 10 and 11 August, a direct action group called ‘DISMANTLE’ targeted two companies which enable Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people. In the early hours of 10 August, the group targeted Stemmer Imaging of Tongham, Surrey. Stemmer are a key supplier to Teledyne, who supply the Israeli military with vital equipment, including parts for the F-35 jets, which are central to their offensive air capability. In a short video posted by the DISMANTLE group, an activist uses a traditional shepherd’s sling, as used in Palestine for centuries, to hurl projectiles at the Stemmer Imaging premises. DISMANTLE concluded with a short statement.

Yvette Cooper Just Doubled Down On Her Palestine Action Lies

Defend Our Juries has confirmed that 500+ people have committed to holding ‘I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action’ signs on Saturday 9 August in central London, as part of the Lift the Ban campaign to end the proscription of Palestine Action. The news comes as Yvette Cooper went in the corporate media to repeat her lies that Palestine Action are a ‘violent threat’ to the country. The controversy over the government’s banning of Palestine Action as a terrorist group has continued unabated. As the Canary previously reported, on Wednesday 30 July the High Court granted permission to Huda Ammori, co-founder of Palestine Action, to bring a full judicial review against the order of Yvette Cooper, proscribing the group as a ‘terrorist organisation’.

UK High Court Grants Palestine Action Judicial Review Over Proscription

A High Court Judge has ruled in favour of Palestine Action and granted the direct action group a judicial review to oppose the UK government’s ban on the pro-Palestine group. Justice Martin Chamberlain ruled on Wednesday that he would grant Palestine Action’s co-founder, Huda Ammori, a judicial review after hearing submissions from her lawyer and the government. The judge also dismissed an additional attempt to temporarily lift the suspension of the group and set the judicial review to take place in November 2025 over three days. The ruling marks a setback for the government, which has faced criticism over its handling of the proscription and concerns that the ban on Palestine Action could be used to stifle criticism of Israel.

US, UK In Secret Talks With Ukrainian Officials To ‘Replace Zelensky’

Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has revealed that US and British officials recently held a meeting in the Alps with top Ukrainian officials to discuss “replacing” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to a statement made available to TASS, the meeting involved Andrey Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Kirill Budanov, chief of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, and Valery Zaluzhny, the country’s ex-commander-in-chief who is now Ukraine’s ambassador to London.. "The Americans and the British announced their decision to propose Zaluzhny to the Ukrainian presidency.

The Palestine Action Ban Has Had A Chilling Effect On The Press

On Saturday 5 July, the day Palestine Action was proscribed as a terrorist organisation, 29 people were arrested for sitting in Parliament Square with handwritten signs that read “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.” Among them was an 83-year-old priest, Sue Parfitt, who described the significance of the action – it was “testing out the law”, she told our reporter. It was always clear to us at Novara Media that the protest would be newsworthy, whether arrests were made or not. We agreed with Parfitt: how the state responded would be telling.

Public Applauds ‘Terror’ Suspects; Major Escalation Of Palestine Action Protests

On Saturday 19 July, police arrested nearly 100 more people under the Terrorism Act 2000 for holding signs saying “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action”, bringing the number to around 200 since Palestine Action became a proscribed organisation on 5 July. Again the police were divided in their response, with common sense prevailing in Edinburgh, Derry, and outside the British Embassy in The Hague, where peaceful protestors were left undisturbed. By contrast, the Met Police arrested 55 in Parliament Square. 17 were arrested in Bristol, 16 in Manchester and 8 in Truro.

Iran Agrees To Nuclear Talks With European States

Iran has agreed to hold nuclear talks with the UK, France, and Germany, an informed source told the semi-official Tasnim News Agency on 20 July. “Tehran and the European troika have come to an agreement in principle on the resumption of the talks about Iran’s nuclear program, but the timing and location of the negotiations are under debate,” the Iranian source said. “The decision as to which country will be hosting the upcoming talks has not been finalized yet,” the source added. The report goes on to say that “Iran was considering a request from the EU3 about the resumption of talks on the nuclear issue and the removal of sanctions.”
