United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

How USAID And The Global Fragility Act Sustain US Imperialism In Libya

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is presented as an agency to assist or "aid" in the positive development of Libya—and other African states—but in reality supports the same imperialist agenda that drove the 2011 military assault that destroyed Libya’s social and political fabric. The regime change operation in Libya, especially following the 2011 NATO overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi, left the country in a state of perpetual chaos and factionalism. This instability serves as fertile ground for the expansion of U.S. influence through soft power mechanisms like the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which, despite its humanitarian facade, works in concert with broader U.S. imperial objectives, as outlined in the Global Fragility Act (GFA), through which Libya is a “priority partner” country.

USAID Officials Take ‘Daily Meetings’ At Israel’s Sde Teiman Torture Camp

Officials from the US’s main humanitarian agency attend daily meetings on an Israeli military base that also hosts the notorious Sde Teiman torture camp for Palestinian detainees from Gaza, The Guardian reported on 15 October. United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is tasked with working with Israeli officials, the UN, and international NGOs to bring humanitarian assistance into Gaza as part of the Joint Coordination Board (JCB). According to three officials with the agency, USAID officials have been attending meetings as part of the JCB at the Sde Teiman base in southern Israel since 29 July.

USAID Whistleblowers Accuse Biden Of ‘Direct Complicity’ In Gaza Famine

Current and former officials from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department say the White House has ignored months of internal warnings about the spread of famine in the besieged Gaza Strip, according to an in-depth investigation by the Independent. “I believe the US to be complicit in creating the conditions for famine. Not only has our response been woefully inadequate, but we’re actively responsible in large part for it,” a USAID employee told the British daily. Internal documents reviewed by the Independent show that staffers have repeatedly warned USAID administrator Samantha Power and other senior leaders about the intensifying crisis in Gaza “often to no avail.”

Washington’s Proxy War In Myanmar Continues Along China’s Borders

Depicted by Western governments and Western media as an isolated, internal conflict between a “military dictatorship” and the forces of “democracy,” in actuality the conflict represents decades of Anglo-American attempts to reassert Western control over the former British colony. Much of the fighting is taking place between the central government and armed ethnic groups that had at one point been a part of the British Empire’s occupation force, utilized by the US and UK during World War 2 against the Japanese, and used ever since to disrupt Myanmar’s ambitions for independence and self-determination.
