US Control Of The Caribbean And Its Multiform War Against Venezuela

For centuries, the peoples of the Central American isthmus have had to face the consequences of the ambitions of European and US ruling elites for control of the Caribbean region. Since the 16th century, the great maritime powers, Spain, France, England and to a lesser extent Holland, disputed control of the islands and coasts of the Caribbean so as to exploit their natural resources and control the region’s commercial and military strategic points. For Nicaragua, foreign interference intensified greatly in the middle of the 19th century with the rivalry between European powers and North American elites over control of the routes of a possible interoceanic canal.

Quantico: A Challenge To The US Working Class

Some 800 U.S. generals, admirals and their closest staff were summoned from their assignments all over the world to the military base in Quantico, Virginia, on Sept. 30. There, following their orders, they sat silently as they heard “War Secretary” Pete Hegseth insult them — then stayed silent as their commander in chief Donald Trump ranted for over an hour and advised them to use assaults on U.S. cities to train their troops. The most important takeaway is that Trump declared war on the working class and all oppressed sectors of U.S. society in his usual racist and misogynist style.

Bringing A Howitzer To A Knife Fight: US Armada Off Venezuela

Donald Trump boasted striking small boats off Venezuela’s Caribbean coast to “blow the cartel terrorists the hell out of the water.”  Claiming destruction of enough drugs to kill 25,000, he called the extrajudicial murders “an act of kindness.” Then he ominously hinted at a US land invasion of Venezuela now that the marine route for drugs had been obliterated. The Miami Herald described the “precision strike” as targeting the Tren de Aragua (TdA) criminal organization. Then, in the very next sentence, the newspaper lauded the strike at the “heart of Venezuela’s Cartel de los Soles,” as if the two entities were one in the same. The rest of the article addressed the Cartel de los Soles, forgetting that it was TdA that had supposedly been blown out of the water.

Trump Declares War On America

In a speech before an unprecedented gathering of hundreds of the nation’s top military commanders, President Trump declared war on major American cities. We have many cities in great shape, too, by the way. I want you to know that. But it seems that the ones that are run by the radical left Democrats, what they’ve done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, they’re very unsafe places. And we’re going to straighten them out one by one. And this is going to be a major part for some of the people in this room. That’s a war, too. It’s a war from within. He also singled out Portland, Oregon, which Trump said was so overrun with crime and chaos that it “looked like World War II.” Trump criticized restrictions on the use of force by the National Guard and other military personnel on U.S. soil. Trump said he has removed those restrictions and, from now on, “they spit, we hit.” He praised members of the military for “pounding” gangs of “kids” in Washington, D.C.

Hegseth Addresses Top Commanders At Quantico, Puts Focus On Warfighting

Washington, DC — “Good morning, and welcome to the War Department because the era of the Department of Defense is over,” Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told hundreds of generals and admirals gathered Tuesday at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia. The secretary told the top military brass, summoned on short notice last week, that 10 directives would arrive in the inboxes of commands Tuesday. Some of the initiatives include adding combat field tests for combat arms units, emphasizing “male-level” standards for fitness, and seeing that every member of the joint force — including four-star generals — take a fitness test twice a year and meet height and weight requirements.

Community Pledges To Pursue Remediation Of Red Hill Contamination

Honolulu, Hawaiʻi - In a moment of reflection and commitment, community organizations, government leaders, and water protectors from all walks of life today launched a “Pledge to Our Wai, Pledge to Our Keiki,” in response to the ongoing contamination of Oʻahu’s primary drinking water aquifer, after it was catastrophically impacted by fuel spills from the U.S. Navy’s Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility in May and September of 2021. The pledge takes note of the ten years that have passed since a widely-criticized 2015 consent order was signed by the Navy, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Hawaiʻi Department of Health, after a reported spill of 27,000 gallons from the Red Hill Facility; based on the demonstrated shortcomings of this document, the pledge recognizes the need for heightened and continual engagement in order to ensure transparency, truth, and action in the healing and protection of water on Oʻahu, and across the islands.

US War Chief Orders ‘Unusual Gathering’ Of Top Generals

US War Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered hundreds of the US military's top leaders to meet on short notice for an unknown reason at a Marine Corps base in Virginia next week, the Washington Post reported on 25 September. “The Secretary of War will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week,” said chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell. “The highly unusual directive was sent to virtually all of the military's top commanders worldwide,” the newspaper wrote, citing more than a dozen people familiar with the matter. The announcement comes months after Hegseth announced plans to carry out a major consolidation of top military commands. Hegseth's abrupt call for such an emergency meeting has led to concerns of a coming conflict.

All Elements In Place For A US Decapitation Strike On Venezuela

President Donald Trump euphorically concluded his White House press conference on September 2 with breaking news: the US military had just blown up a small motor vessel in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. He alleged that the skiff came from Venezuela and was loaded with illicit drugs headed to the US. On social media, he further embellished his story by saying that the crew were members of the Tren de Aragua cartel, which Trump claims is controlled by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Trump alleges that this cartel is “responsible for mass murder, drug trafficking, sex trafficking, and acts of violence across the US.” There was no attempt to stop and search the boat in international waters, before murdering the crew.

A Funny Thing Happened To US Warships On Their Way To The Caribbean

The USA has deployed two warships, an armed nuclear submarine and 4,500 troops to the Caribbean Sea. According to Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, their supposed mission is to combat drug trafficking and a drug cartel called “Cartel de los Soles” [Cartel of the Sun’s]. Rubio claims that it is led by President Maduro, and he insists that it is intent on “flooding” the US with narcotics. He stated that this cartel is one of the largest criminal organizations that exists in the hemisphere. Military experts, however, point out that two warships and a nuclear submarine is overkill and ineffective to combat smugglers’ boats, for which helicopters and coast-guard-type ships would be more effective.

Mass Mobilizations Needed To Protect Bolivian And Venezuelan Revolutions

On August 17, in the Bolivian presidential elections, the leftwing candidates lost for the first time in twenty years. Some are calling this a continuation of the US-backed coup there. Just days before the election, the Trump administration announced that it was sending naval destroyers and 4,000 troops to Latin America that could be used in 'targeted strikes' against Venezuela. Clearing the FOG speaks with William Camacaro, a senior analyst for the Council on Hemospheric Affairs and a co-founder of the Venezuela Solidarity Network, about divisions within the left in Bolivia that led to their current demise and how Venezuela is mobilizing millions of civilians to defend their sovereignty against US aggression.

How Black Police And Soldiers Have Resisted Federal Takeovers

President Trump has deployed federal law enforcement officers and the National Guard in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. and threatened to take over predominantly Black Democratic cities by decree. The presidential orders are conducted on the pretext of fighting crime, but critics condemn them as nefarious acts of political provocation and racial intimidation. The deployments have spurred a debate over the legality of the administration’s use of federal police and the National Guard generally — and the role of Black cops and troops in carrying them out in particular. Should they follow orders of questionable legality, or instead disobey and protest through the appropriate channels?

Is Venezuela The Next Target Of The US Empire?

President Donald Trump has deployed several warships and thousands of Marines to the southern Caribbean – just miles off the coast of Venezuela. The provocative mission was launched under the guise of an anti-narcotics crusade, but risks disastrous outcomes for both countries. While a war with Venezuela might seem unlikely, the move is sure to radically escalate tensions with the Latin American state, and in the worst-case scenario could become a trip-wire for direct conflict with Caracas. According to a recent New York Times report, the president has signed a secret directive authorizing military action against drug cartels designated as “terrorist” groups, having added several drug gangs to the terror blacklist since February. The new operation in the Caribbean is almost certainly based on that order.

A Message To Troops In DC From Other Service Members And Veterans

War based on lies and false pretenses delivered us, our families, and civilians abroad 20 years of disaster. Now we face another war based on lies and false pretenses, but this time on American soil. The “war on crime” is a smokescreen. Crime in Washington D.C. has been at a 30-year low with a significant drop in violent crime. The motivation for the deployment of federal troops is purely based on the racist fantasies of those in power. Republicans have wanted to take over the District since 1973, when it created a Black-led political establishment. It also serves as a mechanism to test the limits of Trump’s authoritarian power. Constitutional lawyers have called this deployment “an unlawful prototype of a police state … a first step in Trump’s march to militarize America’s cities and subvert democracy.”

Washington Prepares For Troop Withdrawal From Baghdad

The US army is preparing to start withdrawing troops from several sites in Iraq, including in the capital Baghdad, and will relocate them to the northern city of Erbil in the country’s autonomous Kurdistan region, according to Al-Sumeriya. An Iraqi government source told the outlet on 17 August that "the international coalition will withdraw from Ain al-Assad base, Baghdad airport, and the Joint Operations Command toward the city of Erbil." The source added that "the withdrawal of coalition forces will take place in September, in implementation of the agreement between Baghdad and Washington," noting that "the military trainers will remain in the country and have nothing to do with the withdrawal of international coalition forces."

Trump Is Sending Thousands Of Troops To Latin America

The Department of Defense has ordered the deployment of air and naval forces to the southern Caribbean Sea. On August 15, CNN reported that Trump is deploying 4,000 U.S. sailors and Marines to Latin America, and that various military assets are being allocated to the U.S. Southern Command including a nuclear-powered attack submarine, several destroyers, and a guided missile cruiser.  This operation comes after Donald Trump secretly signed an order last week directing the Pentagon to use the armed forces in the supposed “fight against drug cartels” in countries where groups declared “terrorist” exist, such as in Mexico, Haiti, El Salvador, and Venezuela. The operation was confirmed by Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, Marco Rubio.
