Wars and Militarism

Trump: US Strikes On Alleged Drug Shipments On ‘Land’ Are Coming Soon

President Trump on Wednesday suggested that US strikes on alleged drug shipments “on land” could be coming soon amid the US bombing campaign targeting boats in Latin America. Trump has made similar comments before, and according to multiple media reports, the US is preparing to bomb Venezuela with the goal of ousting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and is using cracking down on drug trafficking as a pretext. The president claimed to reporters at the White House that he had “legal authority” to launch the strikes, but Congress hasn’t authorized the bombing campaign, which the Constitution requires for launching a war.

Puerto Rico As A Launchpad For War On Venezuela

When President Trump announced that the CIA had been authorized to conduct operations inside Venezuela, just as US drones struck another small boat off Venezuela’s coast, few people in the United States realized that much of this militarization begins on the soil of a land denied its own sovereignty: Puerto Rico. The island that has lived under US rule since 1898 is once again being used as a staging ground for US militarism, this time for Washington’s latest “war on drugs” narrative, masking a campaign of coercion against Latin America’s independent governments.

The Likely Consequences Of A US War On Venezuela

Funny thing about war: it is relatively easy to start. An insult here. A lie there. A “false flag” as a casus belli there, and shots, bombs, missiles ensue…and destruction and deaths follow until there is some sort of “victory”. However, when the odds are stacked against a much smaller opponent that is facing an overwhelmingly larger foe, then “victory” will not appear straightforward, or even clear. It will be messy. This is the case of Venezuela. The USA thinks its technological superiority will allow it to subdue the Venezuelan government and people: in other words, bomb them into submission.

US Repatriates Survivors Of Its Latest Boat Attack In The Caribbean

For the first time since the US began extrajudicially bombing boats in Venezuelan waters this year,  a US military attack did not result in the deaths of all crew members. It was reported that there were two survivors after the bombing of what the US called a “drug boat” without providing evidence. The incident comes amid an ongoing US military escalation in the Caribbean targeting Venezuela, under the guise of a supposed anti-drugs operation. The illegal US military actions in the international waters close to Venezuela, which include blowing up of civilian boats, have left almost 30 people dead in since early September, with no evidence presented of the victims’ alleged ties to drug trafficking. These actions are part of a U.S. military expansion in the southern Caribbean, with destroyers, F-35 fighter jets, a nuclear submarine, and some 10,000 troops deployed.

Israel’s Perpetual War Machine Demonstrates That Environmental Warfare Is A Tool

The zionist ethnostate’s recent pause in hostilities against the people of Gaza due to so-called Phase 1 of President Trump’s 20 Point Gaza Peace Plan has resulted in a collective sigh of relief for many the world over, who have observed and/or have been victims of the ongoing genocidal onslaught that’s pillaged an estimated 70,000 lives, including approximately 20,000 women and children, included the use of starvation as a weapon, and has reduced the Gaza Strip to rubble as critical infrastructure including homes, schools/universities, hospitals and places of worship have all been decimated by the Israel Occupying Force’s (IOF) war machine that has been aided, abetted, and funded by the United States and other Western governments.

Head Of US Southern Command To Step Down Amid Strikes On Boats

The head of US Southern Command, the military commander overseeing US escalations in the Caribbean and the push toward an attempt at regime change in Venezuela, is stepping down, the Pentagon announced on Thursday. According to a statement from SOUTHCOM Commander Adm. Alvin Holsey, who served in the position for less than a year, he will be retiring on December 12, 2025, ending a 37-year military career. No reason was given for his resignation, but according to The New York Times, he had raised concerns about the US military mission in the Caribbean, which has involved a significant buildup of forces and the bombing of five boats that the Trump administration has claimed, without providing evidence, were carrying drugs.

Sudan’s People Are Rebuilding Their Capital Without Government Help

On a scorching morning in Al-Kalakla, southern Khartoum, Mohammed Rizq stood among rubble with a notebook in his hand, directing dozens of volunteers half his age. The 21-year-old high school student with metalworking training pointed toward a broken water station, its generator stolen by Rapid Support Forces during the paramilitary’s occupation of Sudan’s capital. He divided the group into teams: clear the rubble, salvage usable bricks, dig trenches to repair pipes the RSF had destroyed. “When I rebuild my neighborhood, it feels like I am rebuilding my life from the ground up,” Rizq says, standing where his elementary school once stood before artillery reduced it to debris.

The US Is Frighteningly Close To A Military Invasion Of Venezuela

The Venezuelan government recently requested action by the United Nations because it has good reason to believe that an attack is imminent. To understand the current threats and how Venezuela is preparing to defend itself, Clearing the FOG speaks with Roger Harris, a co-founder of the Venezuela Solidarity Network and member of the board of the Task Force of the Americas, as well as other Latin American solidarity organizations. Harris explains how the US has been trying to overthrow the Venezuelan government for decades, why Venezuela is a target of Washington and what people can do to try to stop an invasion.

Nobel Peace Prize Winner Supports Israel’s Genocide

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to María Corina Machado, a far-right coup leader in Venezuela who has been funded by the US government for decades. Machado has openly called for the US military to invade Venezuela, in order to overthrow the revolutionary Chavista government of President Nicolás Maduro. She is at the heart of the war that Donald Trump has waged on Venezuela. Machado has endorsed the US military’s extrajudicial executions of Venezuelans in boats in international waters, echoing the Trump administration’s unsubstantiated, evidence-free claims that it is supposedly killing “drug traffickers”. Machado also supports the illegal, unilateral US sanctions that have killed hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans.

United States Out Of Venezuela And Iran!

The U.S. Peace Council condemns the U.S. government’s escalating wars abroad and its deepening war against working-class, Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, and other oppressed and vulnerable communities here at home. The same imperialist system that wages aggression against Venezuela and Iran intensifies repression in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities across the United States. These are not separate wars — they are fronts of a global imperialist system in decline, struggling to maintain its exploitative, unilateral hegemony in the face of a rising multipolar world. In Our Americas and West Asia, the U.S. invokes “counterterrorism,” “anti-drug operations,” and “nuclear deterrence” to justify overt and covert forms of intervention, sanctions, and regime change.

From The Flag To The Cross: Fascism American Style

The Law and Disorder radio program has immortalized selected recent interviews as it expands into print media with a new book, From the Flag to the Cross: Fascism American Style. This compact collection draws a portrait of fascism that does not dwell on lurid images and horrors of fascist history, concentration camps, prison gulags or wars ravaging the planet, led by fascist governments. Instead, it delves into the structural foundation of fascism, how to identify it, and ideas about organizing to resist it. For two decades, Law and Disorder has reached a large number of devoted listeners with its weekly broadcasts on 140 stations across the United States and its podcasts. Its interviews have greatly deepened our understanding of complex world events. Like genocide, fascism is a controversial subject.

Gazans March North Again, Returning To Homes Made Of Rubble

It was the moment everyone in southern Gaza had been waiting for: the chance to return to their homes, or what remained of them, in Gaza City and northern Gaza. On October 10, as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas, throngs of people began the march back north, moving up the coastal al-Rashid road in a sight reminiscent of Gazans’ historic return march during the January-March ceasefire earlier this year. On Saturday morning, a statement from the Gaza Civil Defense said that over 300,000 people had made the trek to Gaza City over the past two days. “No tents or mobile homes are available to house the returnees from the south,” the statement said.

Leaked US Files Expose Secret Israeli–Arab Military Pact Targeting Iran

While Arab states condemned Israel’s war on Palestinians in Gaza as a genocide, they were simultaneously secretly expanding military cooperation with the US and Israel to help defend against a war with Iran, leaked documents revealed by the Washington Post on 11 October show. The documents, written between 2022 and 2025, show that officials from six Arab countries joined their Israeli and US counterparts for a series of meetings in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, and Qatar over the past three years. The documents described efforts by the US military to create the “Regional Security Construct,” which would include Israel, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The documents refer to Kuwait and Oman as “potential partners” in the project. The participants met to prepare to protect Israel during a possible war with Iran by integrating their forces with US air defense systems.

Venezuela Activates ‘Operation Independence 200’

Venezuela activated the Comprehensive Defense Steering Bodies (ODDI) of Operation Independence 200 in the country’s eastern states, including Monagas, Bolívar, and Anzoátegui, on Saturday, October 11. The minister of the Interior, Citizen Security, and Peace, Captain Diosdado Cabello, presided over an event in Monagas state to deliver equipment and resources to the militia in the communes. Operation Independence 200 was launched with the deployment of more than 1,500 people in Monagas alone, from where Captain Cabello emphasized that the nation is prepared to “confront the various threats that imperialism poses to the homeland.”

Report: US Spent Over $30B Backing Israel, Regional Wars In Two Years

The U.S. has spent over $30 billion supporting the Israeli military and conducting war across the Middle East over the first two years of Israel’s genocide in Gaza — a genocide only made possible by the U.S.’s financial support, a new report concludes. Brown University’s Costs of War project released a series of reports on the second anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attack, finding that the U.S. has sent at least $21.7 billion in military aid to Israel between October 2023 and September 2025. This record-breaking amount of aid is just the “tip of the iceberg,” with replenishments like Israel’s access to U.S. weapons stockpiles in the Middle East likely not included in publicly reported totals.
