But soldiers like Sgt. Sylvester Cline are not dying where you might expect, such as scorching, oil-rich targets like Iraq, where Cline served during a lie-tainted war.

To put things into perspective, if the Antarctic ice sheet melted, it would raise global sea levels by around 200 feet. We’ve already seen a noticeable loss of mass on the west end of the glacier, one of the many reasons why we should all be screaming. And Iceland most certainly is: Locals there just held a politically charged funeral for a 700-year-old glacier called Okjökull. Jökull is Icelandic for glacier, so that portion of Okjökull’s name has been removed, and what remains is now referred to as Ok. But Ok is not OK.

U.S. Government Reports: ‘It Is Raining Plastic’

After analyzing rainwater samples collected from the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, the U.S. Interior Department recently released a study concluding that microscopic plastic fibers have contaminated the air, soil, water, and even rainfall. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, plastic was found in over 90 percent of samples taken. In a recent report titled “It Is Raining Plastic,” the U.S. Geological Survey reported, “Atmospheric wet deposition samples were collected using the National Atmospheric Deposition Program/National Trends Network (NADP/NTN) at eight sites in the Colorado Front Range. Plastics were identified in more than 90 percent of the samples.”

An analysis released Tuesday warns that 17 countries which are collectively home to a quarter of the global population face "extremely high water stress" that is on track to get worse—particularly because of the human-caused climate emergency. The data is part of the World Resources Institute's (WRI) Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas, a publicly available database and interactive tool designed to enhance global understanding of water scarcity, which WRI calls "one of the defining issues of the 21st century."

When federal regulators came to Southern Oregon in June for hearings on a massive gas export project, they were greeted by a grassroots resistance movement 15 years in the making. About 800 people attended a series of four hearings put on by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC. Those speaking out against the gas project represented rural landowners, local governments, fisheries interests, tribal governments, and climate activist groups. “This project has brought people together from across the political spectrum,” said Rogue Climate campaigns director Allie Rosenbluth.

Approximately fifty University of Michigan students and faculty, as well as local residents, laid on the floor at the school’s Museum of Art last week to bring attention to the (dire) consequences of climate change. Hosted by the UM Museum of Art and Ann Arbor Climate Mobilization, the event had participants “die” for exactly eleven minutes to “highlight the role time plays in the issue.” According to The Michigan Daily, the die-in coincided with the exhibit “The World to Come: Art in the Age of the Anthropocene.”

The country and this project are aiming to do their part in the current climate crisis by tackling the ever-growing issue of deforestation and climate change. Ethiopia broke records with this recent tree planting day that occurred Monday. State employees were given the day off and encouraged other citizens to play their role in the project. “I think we demonstrated the capacity for people to come together collectively and deliver on a shared vision,” said Billene Seyoum, Abiy’s press secretary. India held the previous world record for the most trees planted in one day standing at 50 million.

Activists Scale Crane And Blockade Lincolnshire Power Station Site

Climate change campaigners have climbed cranes and blockaded the entrance to the construction site at SSE’s Keadby 2 power station in Lincolnshire. The Reclaim The Power campaign group say they are trying to shut down the construction site just off the A18 west of Scunthorpe since this morning, with a number of protesters taking action against fossil fuels. The group want to shut down two major gas companies – Drax and SSE – saying “gas is a dirty fossil fuel and will lock us into climate breakdown”.
