People’s Arms Embargo Campaign: No Weapons From Oakland To Israel

The Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), Arab Resource and Organizing Center Action (AROC Action), and the US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN) have partnered together to call for an end to all shipments of military cargo from ports of Oakland to Israel and to demand an Oakland Arms Embargo on Israel. Breaking research has uncovered Oakland's hidden and central role in transporting military cargo to the Israeli military. Shipments have been sent from Oakland to Israel multiple times per week, almost every single week this year. The fact that shipments of F-35 fighter jet components are flowing through the Oakland airport to the Israeli military has been concealed from the people of Oakland, our workers, our city officials, our families, and our educators. Together, we are launching a broad based coalition to demand an end to Oakland’s participation in genocide.

Democratic National Committee Rejects Resolution For Israel Arms Embargo

On Tuesday, Democratic National Committee (DNC) members at the party’s summer meetings rejected Resolution 18, which called for the recognition of a Palestinian state, a ceasefire in Gaza, an arms embargo, and a suspension of military aid to Israel. Instead, members backed a status quo resolution introduced by DNC Chair Ken Martin, which simply called for more aid to be allowed into Gaza and a two-state solution. Despite the support, Martin went on to withdraw the resolution. “I know that there are some who are interested in making changes today, but as we’ve seen, there’s divide in our party on this issue,” said Martin. “This is a moment that calls for shared dialog."

Veterans, Allies Fast For Gaza: ‘We Cannot Normalize Genocide’

On May 22, veterans and their allies launched a 40-day Fast for Gaza with two core demands: provide humanitarian supplies to Palestinians and stop sending weapons to the illegal state of Israel. A core group of fasters is holding a daily vigil in front of the US mission to the United Nations in New York City. They are joined by more than 400 solidarity fasters. Clearing the FOG speaks with two of the fasters and organizers, Kathy Kelly, board president of World Beyond War, and Mike Ferner, former national director of Veterans for Peace, about the fast, their experiences with supporting those who are targeted by wars, and the importance of continuing to oppose the genocide of Palestinians. They encourage people to join the fast however they are able. Get more information and sign up at FOSNA.org/2025gazafast.

Spain: International Conference To Call For Arms Embargo On Israel

The Spanish wire service EFE reports that delegations from 20 countries met Sunday in Madrid in a push to pressure Israel to halt its total war on Gaza and to establish a Palestinian state. Convened by Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, the conference sought to move to concrete actions. Israel had blocked all humanitarian aid for two months beginning in March, provoking a crisis of malnutrition in Gaza, almost all of whose people have been made internal refugees several times over by the Israeli military. Israel began letting a small amount of aid in last week, apparently under the pressure of the Trump administration, but United Nations officials decried it as “a drop in the ocean” compared to the urgent needs of 2.2 million Palestinians.

Spain ‘Major Transit Port’ For Weapons Shipments To Israel

Over 60,000 weapon parts have been transported to Israel via Zaragoza airport in northern Spain since the start of the US–Israeli genocide of Palestinians in October 2023, according to an investigation by Progressive International (PI), the Palestinian Youth Movement, and the American Friends Service Committee. “The evidence indicates that these flights continue to this day,” investigators told elDiario.es, adding that the shipments include “parts and accessories for artillery, rifles, rocket/grenade launchers and machine guns” and “parts and accessories for revolvers and pistols.”

Mass Blockade At Air Force Base Protesting The Arming Of Israel

Travis AFB/Fairfield, CA – On Wednesday, as reported by police authorities, 28 people were arrested in a mass nonviolent rally and "human blockade” that blocked all 4 entrances into Travis Air Force Base, the state’s largest air base, to “Nonviolently stop the supply chain for weapons to Israel.” All arrestees were charged with misdemeanor "failure to comply with a lawful order,” and released by 4 p.m. Wednesday, and given January court dates. Travis has been a key air base transporting US weapons to Israel in it’s yearlong military offensive in Gaza, which many experts, nationally and globally, are calling a genocide.

White House Sabotages Senate Vote To Block Israel Arms Sales

The US government is lobbying Democratic senators to vote against legislation that would halt $20 billion worth of arms sales to Israel, according to US officials who spoke with the Times of Israel on 20 November. “Biden aides have argued that the weapons in question are essential for Israel’s defense and won’t be delivered for another year or two, ‘so the likelihood of them being used in this iteration of the Gaza context is very low,’” the Israeli daily cites the sources as saying, adding that officials from the White House, State Department, and Pentagon have reached out to “various lawmakers on the fence about how they might vote.”

57 Groups To Senate: No More Weapons For Israel’s War

Washington, DC — On Monday, Demand Progress and a coalition of 56 other progressive, faith-based, humanitarian, and foreign policy advocacy groups launched the No More Weapons for Israel’s War campaign. This month, for the first time ever, the U.S. Senate will hold yes-or-no votes on arms sales to Israel. The grassroots campaign will drive their millions of supporters to call on senators to support Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs) that could block transfers of certain offensive weapons like tank and artillery shells and Joint Direct Attack Munitions to the Israeli military.

200+ Jewish-Led Protesters Arrested At New York Stock Exchange

As the Israeli assault of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon continued on Monday, over 200 Jewish-led protesters, including descendants of Holocaust survivors, were arrested at the New York Stock Exchange while demanding that the United States “stop arming Israel and profiting from genocide.” Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP)—which has led several anti-genocide protests across the country over the past year of war—said that hundreds of people joined the action in New York City. The advocacy group shared photos and videos on social media of participants in red T-shirts with messages including “Not in Our Name” and “Stop Arming Israel.”

For The First Time, Congress Will Vote On Blocking Weapons To Israel

Last week Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) announced that he had introduced legislation to block a $20 billion arms sale to Israel. The Joint Resolutions of Disapproval would prevent the delivery of offensive weapons that the State Department approved in August, just days before ceasefire talks were set to resume. The package includes fighter jets and advanced air-to-air missiles. “Sadly, and illegally, much of the carnage in Gaza has been carried out with U.S.-provided military equipment,” said Sanders in a statement. “Providing more offensive weapons to continue this disastrous war would violate U.S. and international law.

PGFTU Calls For Unions To Support ‘Mask Off Maersk’ Campaign

The Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions has issued a statement marking nearly one year of resistance to genocide since October 7. Addressing their “Brothers and Sisters of trade and workers’ unions in North America, Europe, and the rest of the world,” the PGFTU calls on “the free world and the global labor movement to stand in a broad and pressing solidarity campaign with our people in Gaza.” The PGFTU expressed support for “dock workers unions in Africa, Europe, and other ports in taking action to stop the flow of weapons and disrupt the financial networks that finance the bombing of our people.”

Biden’s Memo Invoked To Stop Arms To Israel

As U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller was telling reporters this week that assessments regarding whether Israel is abiding by international humanitarian law in Gaza are ongoing, more than two dozen rights groups were telling the Biden administration that it need look no further than its own memo released months ago to see that the U.S. must end its support for the Israeli military. Groups including Amnesty International, the Center for Civilians in Conflict and Refugees International were among 25 organizations that signed a letter sent Tuesday to President Joe Biden; Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee; and their foreign policy advisers.

An Arms Embargo On Israel Is Not A Radical Idea, It’s The Law

As Israel launches its largest military assault in the West Bank in twenty years, I cannot stop thinking about the people I met in the occupied territory. I think of the mother in Jenin who was on the phone with her two sons seconds before their house was burned in an Israeli raid. I think of the wife of a man who was being held in an Israeli prison without charge or trial asking me, “Is there anything you can do? My husband is dying.” I think of the farmer who gifted me a melon even though he could barely put food on his own table and I was there only for a short period of time, traveling and volunteering with Faz3a, an international protective presence organization.

Over 3000 Physicians And 16 Medical And Humanitarian Organizations Demand An Arms Embargo On Israel

On August 26, 2024 medical and humanitarian organizations demand the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the NDP to enforce a full and complete arms embargo on Israel in recognition of the ongoing war crimes and crimes against humanity as well as plausible genocide of the people of Gaza. We are alarmed that Canada is engaging in violation of Canadian and International Law by supplying Israel with munitions: The M933A1 120mm High Explosive mortar cartridges with M783 fuzes that are going to be shipped to Israel via the U.S. is illegal under Canadian and International law. This is in violation of Articles 6(3), 7, and 11 of the Arms Trade Treaty, as well as Article 1 of the Geneva Convention." as we cannot disseminate any defamatory content.

Replica Bomb Placed Outside Of British Parliament

As Britain remains complicit in Israel’s war crimes by refusing an arms embargo, a replica of a 2,000-pound bomb was placed outside of Parliament today, serving as a stark reminder of the innocent lives that will be claimed while the government breaks up for summer. The 16-foot replica was placed by Oxfam after it released a new analysis estimating that around 7,000 people in Gaza will be killed or injured over the next 33 days. A carpet of flowers around the bomb symbolised those who are likely to be killed by the Israeli military, as well as the Israeli hostages still in captivity.
