US / Israel-Backed Overthrow Of Syria Was Blow To Palestine Liberation

Opposition forces backed by NATO member Turkey launched an offensive in Syria, in coordination with Israel and the United States, on November 27, 2024. Within 11 days, the government of the Syrian Arab Republic was toppled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a group led by Abu Mohammad al-Julani, who now uses his birth name Ahmed al-Sharaa. Sharaa, who was appointed the unelected “president” of Syria, was previously leader of Al-Nusra Front, the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda. He was also an emissary of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the founder of ISIS.

The Only Way To Stop Netanyahu-Trump Plan To Eliminate Palestine

During their joint press conference this week, U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that all Palestinians will be forcibly displaced from the Gaza Strip, the U.S. would take “ownership” of the Strip, and eventually rebuild it as the “Riviera of the Middle East” to be inhabited apparently by everyone from around the world (but clearly, they meant Israeli Jews), but not by the Palestinians who will be forcibly expelled from Gaza. For Trump, those Palestinians must be moved to Egypt, Jordan, and elsewhere once and for all.

Trump Plans To ‘Take Over’ Gaza And Expel Palestinians

When Donald Trump campaigned for president in 2024, he told the Israeli-American Council that, during his first administration, “I was the best friend Israel ever had”. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agrees. In a press conference at the White House, Netanyahu told Trump, “You are the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House”. Since returning for his second term as US president, Trump has been as pro-Israel — and as anti-Palestinian — as he could possibly be. Trump signed an executive order calling to deport international students who protest Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people.

Bowdoin Students Launch First Gaza Solidarity Encampment Of Trump Era

Activists at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine have launched what is believed to be the first Palestine solidarity encampment since President Donald Trump took office, occupying the first floor of the liberal arts school's student union to protest the U.S. leader's proposal to take over the Gaza Strip and expel its native Palestinian population. Bowdoin Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) occupied the first floor of Smith Union on Thursday night and erected tents there, The Bowdoin Orient reported. They named the encampment after Sha'ban al-Dalou, a 19-year-old computer engineering student at al-Azhar University in Gaza who burned alive in a refugee tent encampment bombed by Israel last October.

US Officials Backtrack On Trump’s Illegal Gaza Gambit

A day after all hell broke loose in reaction to President Donald Trump’s plan to remove 1.8 million Palestinians from Gaza, which he said the U.S. would rebuild and make a U.S territory, administration officials began backtracking as it emerged that only Trump himself knew he would make the plan public. Asked in Guatemala about Trump’s intention to relocate the Palestinian population from the Gaza Strip, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that Palestinians would be allowed to “move back in,” which was not what Trump had said the day before.

Erik Prince Smells Blood In Gaza And He’s Ready To Cash In

On January 20, as Donald Trump took office for the second time, it seemed that the “war on terror” prison at Guantánamo Bay, which had recently marked the 23rd anniversary of its opening, might become as marginalized and generally forgotten as it was in his first term in office, when he largely sealed it shut for four years. Last Wednesday, however, and seemingly out of the blue, Trump suddenly announced that he had just issued a new executive order, “Expanding Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantánamo Bay to Full Capacity”, to expand an existing migrant detention facility at the naval base

Trump Reiterates Plan To Remove Palestinians From Gaza

On Tuesday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first foreign leader to meet Donald Trump in The White House during his second term. The meeting took place amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations between the Israeli government and Hamas. Speaking with reporters after the meeting, Trump made the stunning announcement that the United States would try to take over Gaza. “The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too,” he said. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site. Level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings. Level it out.”

Brussels Parliament To Recognize Israel’s War On Gaza As Genocide

The March 30 Movement, which has long advocated for the Palestinian cause, stated that the historic step was adopted on February 3. This comes as the movement’s electoral initiative during the 2024 campaign, Viva Palestina, focused on one key demand: for the Brussels Parliament to officially recognize the genocide in Gaza and take concrete action. Throughout the campaign, Viva Palestina engaged extensively in debates with political parties, applied pressure to push them to take a stance, and mobilized public opinion. With the resolution adopted at the commission level, the March 30 Movement urged all Belgian parties to vote in its favor in the plenary session, ensuring that Brussels continues to lead by example in the fight for justice and human rights.

The Western Way Of Genocide

Gaza is a wasteland of 50 million tons of rubble and debris. Rats and dogs scavenge amid the ruins and fetid pools of raw sewage. The putrid stench and contamination of decaying corpses rises from beneath the mountains of shattered concrete. There is no clean water. Little food. A severe shortage of medical services and hardly any habitable shelters. Palestinians risk death from unexploded ordnance, left behind after over 15 months of air strikes, artillery barrages, missile strikes and blasts from tank shells, and a variety of toxic substances, including pools of raw sewage and asbestos.

The Right Of Return Is Still The Issue

The war waged against the Palestinian people is the longest and most sustained in recent history. For over a hundred years, since the Balfour Declaration, a war of death and destruction has been waged against the Palestinian people in Palestine and wherever they reside, raining death and destruction on them. The myth of Palestine as “a land without a people” in the 19th century has been converted into a Zionist plan of action to make it so; a ruined land with its people dead or expelled. Since the creation of the Zionist colonial project of establishing Israel on the ruins of Palestine in 1948, I witnessed, indeed endured in my lifetime, three historical stations worthy of contemplation.

Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27, 2025

On January 24, 2025, the Veterans Administration of the Pacific region sent out a notice to all veterans registered in the Pacific region to not forget Holocaust Remembrance Day.  Not surprisingly, the email did not say one word about the ongoing Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, nor U.S. complicity in that genocide. The VA email, which is probably duplicated by other U.S. federal agencies to their workforce and clients reads: "On January 27, 2025, we observe Holocaust Remembrance Day, a solemn occasion to reflect on one of history’s darkest periods. The Holocaust began with the opening of Dachau Concentration Camp on March 22, 1933, and ended with the surrender of Germany on May 8, 1945. During this time, millions of innocent people—among them those with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, people of Jewish heritage, and Romani communities—were systematically exterminated.

1968 And 2025: What Prospect For Resistance Inside US Military?

A recent article in the British Guardian newspaper recounted the experiences of veterans of the U.S. military and their thoughts and feelings in opposition to the U.S.-aided and -abetted genocide on Palestinian Gaza perpetrated by Zionist Israel. This opposition is to be applauded. The U.S. military is now “all-volunteer.” So, this opposition will allow youth contemplating joining the military a different, sobering perspective. No doubt many young people already have this perspective because all branches of the military are failing to meet their recruiting quotas. My experience in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1969 was quite different from that of these veterans.

After Gaza Ceasefire, Labor Movement Isn’t Done Fighting For Palestine

A fragile cease-fire is finally in place in Gaza after Israel carried out a 15-month, U.S.-backed genocide that killed at least 47,107 Palestinians (though the true number is likely far higher) and reduced much of the coastal enclave to rubble. In the days following the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, anti-Palestinian hysteria swept the U.S. political and media establishments. As Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) encouraged Israel to “level” Gaza, then-Biden White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that calls for a cease-fire were “repugnant” and “disgraceful,” while top officials at the State Department instructed staffers not to publicly use terms like “de-escalation” and “cease-fire.”

Veterans For Peace Pledges To Defend Ceasefire

Veterans For Peace joins the people of Gaza in rejoicing at the Ceasefire that has brought a halt to Israel’s bombardment of Palestinian children, women and men, and their churches, their mosques, their schools and hospitals. At least 50,000 have been killed in a cold-blooded massacre and over 100,000 injured, many losing their limbs. But the huge smiles on the faces of the children of Gaza and their shouts of joy since the ceasefire went into effect were a deeply profound thing to witness. But just how real is the Gaza ceasefire?  How enduring will it be?

Palestine Action Are Occupying The Offices Of Aviva

From 7.30am on Wednesday 22 January, Palestine Action begun occupying ‘The Aviva Centre’ in Bristol over its ongoing complicity with Israel’s genocide in Gaza. One activist is on top of the overhang of the ‘UK’s largest insurer’: Another spray painted the front glass of the building. Messages painted on the building include ‘Pal Action’ and ‘Elbit Out.' Aviva provides the mandatory employers liability insurance for UAV Engines in Staffordshire, a drone engine factory owned by Israel’s biggest weapons manufacturer, Elbit Systems. Recent disclosures show the company no longer holds direct shares in Elbit Systems. However, as well as insuring an Israeli weapons factory, Allianz also continue to hold investments in funds which hold Elbit shares.
