‘A Recipe For Igniting West Asia’: Palestinians React To Trump’s Plan

Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza have condemned the “peace plan” introduced by US President Donald Trump on 29 September, calling it “vague” and accusing it of supporting Israeli aims to prolong the genocide in Gaza. “We will not accept any proposal that does not include the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and protection from massacres,” Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi declared, adding that Trump's announcement “is an attempt to stifle international momentum and recognition of the Palestinian state.” Qatari and Egyptian officials delivered the US-Israeli plan to Hamas’s negotiating team overnight, according to Al-Jazeera. The Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Ziad al-Nakhala, blasted the proposal, calling it "a US-Israeli agreement, reflecting Israel’s full stance.”

What Fresh Hell Is This?

Friday saw two announcements: Keir Starmer is to introduce compulsory digital ID cards in the U.K., and Tony Blair was put forward by the White House to be the colonial administrator of Gaza for five years. The political economy of the world appears locked in a vertiginous downward spiral. You don’t have to scratch very hard to find that Tony Blair’s hand is also behind the compulsory ID plan. He has been pushing it for nearly thirty years, and now it comes with added links to Larry Ellison, Palantir and Israel. The government will be able to garner and centralise knowledge of everything about you.

Gaza Is Not Rwanda: Its Suffering Should Not Perpetuate That Of Congolese

Since the Gaza Genocide began, many people have likened it to the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and likened Gazans’ suffering to that of Rwandan Tutsis in 1994. Those making this comparison now include Navi Pillay, head of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, which last week concluded, in a 71-page report, that Israel is indeed guilty of genocide. This conclusion is of course a good thing, long overdue, but the comparison is pernicious, no matter how well-intentioned. It perpetuates the narrative that has dominated the African Great Lakes Region for 30 years, allegedly justifying the sacrifice of millions of Congolese lives.

The Most Urgent Priority Is To Create A New International Order

As we deliberate here, 2.2 million human beings in Gaza are condemned to starvation by the actions of genocide, extermination, and ethnic cleansing carried out by the Zionist regime, which has the military and financial supplies and impunity guaranteed by the United States government. On behalf of the government and people of Cuba, I reiterate our strongest solidarity with the Palestinian people and their just cause for freedom, independence, and an end to the Zionist occupation. If the Security Council proves powerless due to the veto that the United States exercises or threatens to exercise, and is unable to take effective measures to stop the barbarism, this General Assembly has the duty and the capacity to promote concrete measures without delay.

When The Governments Fail, We Sail

This week, nearly two years after the Al Aqsa flood, which marks a growing escalation of the US Zionist genocide of Palestinians. Multiple Anglo-European states, including the UK, France and Canada, declared their recognition of the State of Palestine, joining the global majority of more than 144 states who had already done so. A statement put out by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer this past Sunday reads: “in the face of the growing horror in the Middle East, we are acting to keep alive the possibility of peace and of a two state solution.” Despite his words, the UK continues to collaborate with the Zionist regime by frequently flying spy planes over Gaza, directly collaborating with the occupation forces.

A Group Of US Veterans Has Joined The Global Flotilla Sailing To Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla, which departed Barcelona on August 31, is the largest civilian maritime attempt to break Israel’s siege of Gaza. Dozens of boats are sailing across the Mediterranean to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians. On the night of September 23, the boats were hit with a barrage of attacks. “Multiple drones, unidentified objects dropped, communications jammed and explosions heard from a number of boats,” said the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) in a statement. “We are witnessing these psychological operations first-hand, right now, but we will not be intimidated.” This was not the first time the flotilla had been targeted. Alleged drones hit two boats in the flotilla earlier this month, and, while Israel’s involvement has not been proven, the country’s Foreign Ministry has denounced the mission as a “jihadist initiative.”

Recognition Of Palestine: What It Does, What It Doesn’t Do, And Why Now

The United Kingdom, Canada, Portugal, and Australia officially recognized the State of Palestine in a series of separate but coordinated statements on Sunday, September 21. Other European and Western nations, including France, Belgium, New Zealand, and several other key allies of Israel, are expected to join the chorus of recognitions at today’s UN General Assembly meeting in New York. The summit is based on a joint Saudi-French initiative to revive a two-state solution called “the New York Declaration,” which was first issued at a conference on September 12. The conference was boycotted by the U.S, which opposed the summit.

Mask Off, Maersk

In a monumental victory for the Palestinian liberation movement, one of the world’s largest integrated logistics and shipping companies, A.P. Moller-Maersk (or Maersk, for short) announced it would halt its transport and business in illegal Israeli settlements, “following a recent review of transports related to the West Bank.” The announcement follows a number of reports released revealing their involvement in the weapons trade and genocide of the Palestinian people. This announcement marks not only an unprecedented victory for the movement but also the making of the successful “Mask Off Maersk” campaign that began at last year’s People’s Conference for Palestine, when the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) launched a transnational people’s arms embargo against the Copenhagen-based company.

Israel Is Committing Genocide In Gaza, UN Commission Says

A United Nations commission has conclusively stated that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people. This genocide has had the full support of the United States, under both Donald Trump and Joe Biden. In fact, since October 2023, the US government has vetoed six resolutions in the UN Security Council that called for peace in Gaza. The latest example was on 18 September, when 14 of the 15 members of the Security Council voted for a resolution that demanded a ceasefire and the release of all hostages. The United States was the only country that opposed it, and Washington has veto power, so it killed the measure.

Global Sumud Flotilla Enters Crucial Phase En Route To Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission, now sailing in international waters near Greece before heading to Gaza, has entered its most crucial phase, described as the decisive moment of the entire movement within the coming week. Founder of Cinta Salam Malaysia (CSM), Ahmad Musa Al-Nuwayri Kamaruzaman, who is part of the mission, said the GSF vessel was currently en route to gather with other ships participating in the effort. Ahmad Musa, who is aboard the vessel Alma, said it was expected to arrive near Greece in the next two days. "In fact, the distance from Greece is very close to Gaza. I asked the chief executive officer of Cinta Gaza Malaysia, Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman, and he said it may take another four to five days from Greece before reaching Gaza.

Independent Probe For United Nations Says Israel Commits Genocide

In a new report published against the backdrop of intensifying Israeli military operations in Gaza City, the U.N. Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, urged Israel and all countries to fulfil their obligations under international law “to end the genocide” and punish those responsible. “The Commission finds that Israel is responsible for the commission of genocide in Gaza,” insisted Navi Pillay, Chair of the Commission. “It is clear that there is an intent to destroy the Palestinians in Gaza through acts that meet the criteria set forth in the Genocide Convention.”

One Million Palestinians ‘Reject Displacement’ From North Gaza

About one million Palestinians in Gaza City and northern Gaza are refusing or are unable to be forcibly displaced to overcrowded “safe zones” in southern Gaza, according to a statement issued by the Gaza Government Media Office on 16 September. “More than one million Palestinians remain rooted in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip, holding onto their land and homes, and categorically rejecting displacement to the south, despite the savage bombardment and genocidal war carried out by the Israeli occupation,” Palestinian officials said. The statement highlights that the population of Gaza City and northern Gaza “exceeds 1.3 million people,” most of whom have already been displaced from their neighborhoods to central and coastal areas.

All Hands on Deck! Letter From Veterans Boat On Gaza Flotilla

Nine of us veterans arrived in Barcelona on August 27th. We were mostly strangers meeting for the first time, with a couple of exceptions.  We began to bond immediately – which was fairly easy considering our common bonds of being veterans sailing for peace.  Two Marine veterans had served together with HMX-1, presidential helicopter. There are two combat veterans. And then there’s me. That’s all that’s left as of today, as four veterans have had to leave the boat for a variety of reasons, including the inherent delays associated with the historical size of the flotilla. In Barcelona, our days were full of training protocols; preparing travel documentation and our “SOS videos” for our anticipated illegal kidnapping.  We also had time for bonding and we took advantage of the luxury of eating out.

Turkey, Spain And 14 Others Warn Against Attacks On Sumud Flotilla

The foreign ministers of 16 countries on Tuesday expressed concern about the safety of the Global Sumud Flotilla headed to Gaza, and warned against “unlawful or violent” acts against it. A joint statement was signed by Turkey, Spain, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Ireland, Libya, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mexico, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, Slovenia and South Africa. “The Global Sumud Flotilla has informed about its objective of delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and raising awareness about the urgent humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people and the need to stop the war in Gaza,” the foreign ministers said. “Both objectives, peace and humanitarian aid delivery, together with the respect of international law, including humanitarian law, are shared by our governments.”

Global Sumud Flotilla Sets Out On Last Leg Of Journey To Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying critical aid to Gaza, began the final leg of its planned route after departing ports across Tunisia this weekend. The first of over 40 boats now at sea left Gammarth port on Saturday, with the final boat departing Bizerte on Monday morning. One week after arriving in Tunis, 16 of the fleet’s original 24 boats resumed their journey east from Barcelona, carrying aid and international passengers in a bid to open a humanitarian corridor and break Israel’s siege on Gaza, which is illegal under international law. At least 422 people in Gaza have died from malnutrition caused by Israel’s blockade, since famine was declared in August.
