Palestine Action Shut Down Israel-Supplying Arms Company

Palestine Action have shut down the factory of Leonardo, a company directly complicit in Israel’s genocide in Gaza. But also, by default the Scottish government also has a hand in this – as it funded the corporation to the tune of millions. Palestine Action returned to the Edinburgh premises of weapons firm Leonardo on Tuesday 10 December – using vans to blockade the weapons factory and halt its contributions to Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Scottish activists were secured to each other on top of the vehicles, closing both entry gates to the plant and preventing the manufacture of parts for Israel’s F-35 Fighter Jets.

Why I Resigned As Chairman Of Amnesty Israel

After Amnesty International released a report last Thursday calling the war in Gaza a genocide, Amnesty’s Israeli branch quickly issued a statement saying most of its members don’t believe genocide has occurred. Some in Amnesty Israel alleged the report was biased, arguing for a forgone conclusion. Others went further, claiming that the international movement abandoned its commitment to equality in the first place. But even before the report came out — one week before, to be exact — I resigned my position as chair of the board of Amnesty Israel. I didn’t step down because of the imminent controversy over the conclusions of Amnesty International’s report.

Turkey Takes Aleppo

Before it fell under 20th century Anglo-American colonialism, Syria was the core of the Levant, encompassing (today’s) Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, the site of multireligious, multicultural cities between which people traveled and traded freely. In the countryside, peasants and herders tended an agricultural and pastoral landscape of olive and orange trees, pasture, forest, and drylands. This region was under the control of the Ottoman Empire for hundreds of years (perhaps Erdogan’s dream is to take some of it back. He’s been accused of “neo-Ottoman” fantasies).

Hamas Accepts Egypt’s Post-War Gaza Proposal Amid Ceasefire Talks

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on December 6 that it has accepted an Egyptian proposal to form a joint Palestinian social support committee to govern the Gaza Strip after the Israeli genocidal aggression on the besieged enclave ends. The announcement came after Hamas held in-depth talks in Cairo with the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah), which leads the Palestinian Authority. The talks centered around implementing previously agreed-upon frameworks to achieve Palestinian unity. “Hamas conveyed its approval of an Egyptian proposal for forming a community support committee that will function through inclusive national mechanisms,” the movement said in a statement.

Israel’s Genocide Day 426: Israel Bombs Tents In Gaza

Leading international human rights organization Amnesty International has concluded, in a report it released on Wednesday, that Israel was responsible for acts of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza strip. The group said that it had been analyzing events and statements by Israeli officials for months, concluding that the legal threshold for the crime of genocide has been met. It is the first time that Amnesty has reached such a conclusion during an ongoing conflict. Amnesty’s chief Agnes Callamard said in a statement on Wednesday that “month after month, Israel has treated Palestinians in Gaza as a subhuman group unworthy of human rights and dignity, demonstrating its intent to physically destroy them,” adding that “Our damning findings must serve as a wake-up call to the international community: this is genocide.

Israel’s Genocide Day 423: Israeli Siege Of North Gaza Intensifies

The UN agency responsible for providing humanitarian relief to Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, announced on Sunday that it has suspended receiving and delivering aid to Gaza through the Karam Abu Salem crossing between Israel and Rafah in southern Gaza, the main entry point to the Strip for humanitarian aid. The agency, which is the largest supplier of aid in Gaza, said in a statement that the road for delivering aid to the crossing point has been dangerous for months, especially since the Israeli invasion of Rafah last April. UNRWA also said that several truck drivers and aid delivery workers had been killed or injured, adding that “it can not continue to put their lives at risk.”

President Maduro Calls For Creation Of ‘Powerful Media Network For The People’

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, proposed the creation of a “powerful media network for the truth of the peoples across all continents, with all languages and on all existing social media of today and those that will be born as alternatives.” He made this proposal on Friday, November 29, at the International Conference in Solidarity with Palestine, held in Caracas. He commented that there is a consensus across the world for “the cause of the struggle for freedom and the right to life of the Palestinian people, and we must do more for Palestine, because still there are many people who are misinformed about the brutal genocide that is being broadcast live.”

Women In The Biden Administration Complicit In Israeli Genocide Of Gaza

As we in the United States sat down to Thanksgiving dinners, Palestinians in Gaza on Day 419 of the Israeli genocide of Gaza and U.S. complicity in that genocide are facing starvation, lack of water, tents purposefully destroyed by U.S. bombs dropped by Israeli warplanes and drones and rain and cold from the winter storms. Here in the U.S. families are enjoying meals prepared by mothers and wives. Yet, many mothers and wives and aunties of these families have day jobs with the Biden administration and have been key participants in the U.S. complicity in the Israeli genocide of the 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza whom we known have been killed by U.S. weapons, the hundreds of thousands who have been injured and perhaps 100,000 who are still buried underneath the rubble.

Without Including Biden And Blinken, International Criminal Court Arrest Warrants Are A Sham

After months of procedural stalling, allegations of sexual harassment against the lead prosecutor and systematic threats from the United States and its Western allies, it did not appear that the International Criminal Court (ICC) would even execute the final phase of the criminal indictment process and Israeli impunity would continue. But on November 20, 2024, six months to the day after Karim Khan, chief prosecutor for the court, submitted his request for the indictments of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant and Hamas leaders Mohammed Deif, Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh, the court finally indicted Netanyahu, Gallant and threw in Mohammed Deif who Israel claims to have assassinated, as they did to Sinwar and Haniyeh.

Oxford Union Declares Israel An ‘Apartheid State Responsible For Genocide’

The prestigious Oxford Union voted by an overwhelming majority that Israel is an "apartheid state responsible for genocide" at a fiery event in which the society's president denounced Israel's war on Gaza as a "holocaust", and a pro-Israel speaker was ejected from the debating chamber. The exclusive debating society, founded in 1823, held an unprecedented debate on Thursday night on the motion: "This house believes Israel is an apartheid state responsible for genocide". The motion was carried with a thumping majority of 278 to 59. The packed debate on Thursday evening, observed by Middle East Eye and largely attended by Oxford students, was often raucous and heated, with nearly every speaker interrupted several times by students raising objections.

Israel’s Genocide Day 419: Conditions For Survival Are ‘Diminishing’

The UN agency for the relief of Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said on Thursday that survival conditions are diminishing for 60,000 to 70,000 remaining Palestinians in the north of Gaza, as the Israeli siege of the area enters its 55th day. The UNRWA added that Israeli forces have obstructed 82 attempts by the UN to deliver aid to the north of Gaza in the past month, and rejected nine petitions to be allowed to deliver aid in the area where 700,000 Palestinians lived before October 7 of last year. The Israeli siege and bombing campaign in the north of Gaza that started in early October was coupled with raids into shelter centers and forcing people to leave.

US Response To ICC Netanyahu Warrant Could Deal Death Blow To International Law

The International Criminal Court’s (ICC) stunning issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity is a major game changer. After years of impunity, the chickens unleashed by Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza have finally come home to roost. These charges against Netanyahu and Gallant are momentous. This is the first time the ICC has issued arrest warrants against an Israeli official for crimes against the Palestinian people. It is only the second time in its 22 years of existence that the ICC has issued an arrest warrant for someone who is not from the African continent.

Massachusetts Institute Of Technology Targeting Pro-Palestine Activists

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has taken severe measures to suppress the voices of two prominent pro-Palestine activists on campus: PhD student Prahlad Iyengar and Dr. Michel DeGraff, a professor who has taught linguistics at the university for over 28 years. Iyengar has been banned from campus, which is also his place of work, without due process. He has also been denied union representation by MIT’s administration, despite himself being a union steward. He faces imminent threat of suspension as well as expulsion. MIT prohibited Dr. Degraff from teaching a course on Palestine, suspended his annual pay raise, and had his official status at the university changed from “Professor of Linguistics” to “Faculty-at-Large,” also without due process.

Israel’s Genocide Day 412: Israel Kills 87 Palestinians In Gaza

Israeli forces killed nine Palestinians in a military raid on Jenin that lasted more than 48 hours between Wednesday and Thursday. Local residents told Mondoweiss that Israeli forces entered the industrial area in Jenin late night Wednesday and headed towards the city’s refugee camp, where they clashed with Palestinian fighters. The Israeli army also took over several rooftops and installed snipers on the refugee camp’s perimeter. Shortly before the start of the invasion of the refugee camp, Israeli forces raided the village of Kufr Dan, to the west of Jenin city, where the Palestinian Red Crescent said that its teams treated a Palestinian man wounded by a live bullet in the chest.

Mass Blockade At Air Force Base Protesting The Arming Of Israel

Travis AFB/Fairfield, CA – On Wednesday, as reported by police authorities, 28 people were arrested in a mass nonviolent rally and "human blockade” that blocked all 4 entrances into Travis Air Force Base, the state’s largest air base, to “Nonviolently stop the supply chain for weapons to Israel.” All arrestees were charged with misdemeanor "failure to comply with a lawful order,” and released by 4 p.m. Wednesday, and given January court dates. Travis has been a key air base transporting US weapons to Israel in it’s yearlong military offensive in Gaza, which many experts, nationally and globally, are calling a genocide.
