Secret Service Blocking Food From Reaching Activists Inside Venezuelan Embassy

WASHINGTON — Since April 30, the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington has been under siege by pro-coup activists who have repeatedly stated their intention to prevent the access of food to the people inside, who are living there at the invitation of the elected government of Venezuela. The U.S. Secret Service is outsourcing its desires to remove the Embassy Protection Collective to the violent and bigoted protesters. The Secret Service has said that it will not prevent those in the building from accessing food or supplies, but on Monday morning that proved to be a lie.

Israel Escalates Deadly Attacks In Gaza

Israel’s bombardment of the occupied Gaza Strip entered its third day on Sunday. By late evening on Sunday, Israeli strikes had killed 19 Palestinians that day, bringing the toll to at least 27 Palestinians slain since Israel escalated its lethal attacks on the territory on Friday. Health officials in Gaza continued to announce new deaths on an almost hourly basis, including late Sunday night Amani al-Madhoun, a 33-year-old woman who was pregnant. She is the second pregnant woman to die in the context of the current escalation...

Google Employees Protest Retaliation With International Sit-In

Google employees are holding a sit-in at offices around the world to protest alleged retaliation against workers. A Google employee told The Verge that hundreds were expected to be involved throughout the day, with sit-ins at offices scheduled for 11AM local time. A Google spokesperson said more than 200 employees participated in the New York sit-in, but that not all company offices participated. Employees in international offices, including London, also took part. At the sit-ins, employees shared stories of what they said were acts of retaliation.

Pipeline Protester Charged With “Threat of Terrorism” For Locking Down Against The MVP

Lindside, WV — Early Thursday morning, 22-year-old pipeline fighter Holden Dometrius locked himself to welding equipment at a Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) construction site, stopping work. The work site in question is located above the town of Lindside, WV on Little Mountain. Banners on site read “TO HELL WITH YOUR PERMITS” and “NO BORDERS, NO PRISONS, NO PIPELINES ON STOLEN LAND.” The Mountain Valley Pipeline is a 303-mile, 42-inch diameter fracked gas pipeline that runs from northern West Virginia to southern Virginia...

US-Backed Saudi Regime Beheads 37 Political Prisoners

The monarchical dictatorship of Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday that it had carried out another killing spree, publicly executing 37 people in the cities of Riyadh, Medina and Mecca, as well as in central Qassim Province and in the kingdom’s Eastern Province. One of the headless corpses was then crucified and left hanging in public as a hideous warning to anyone who would even contemplate opposing the absolute power of the ruling royal family. The regime announced that those who were brought into public squares to be decapitated with swords had been punished “for adopting terrorist and extremist thinking and for forming terrorist cells to corrupt and destabilize security.”

Chilean Police Repress Thousands Of Protesting Students

Thousands of students peacfully demonstrated in Santiago Thursday during a renewed protest to demand sweeping education reforms, but were attacked by anti-riot police. The march, which had started peacefully with thousands of students carrying signs and banners demanding reforms, turned into violent clashes as anti-riot police attacked protesters. Police used water canons and tear gas to disperse the large crowds of students who responded by throwing rocks and other objects at police.

The Slandering Of Assange Reveals The Sociopathic Workings Of The Empire’s Propaganda Machine

Amid the attempted prosecution of Julian Assange, the world is in a surreal moment where the truth has been turned on its head. A groupthink has emerged which collectively rejects history and facts so it can stick with the narrative that Assange deserves his persecution. As always, it’s ambiguous whether all the propagandists believe their own lies, and it doesn’t matter whether they do; they’re doing what the centers of power require of them, which is to reinforce the official story.

Arrests At London Climate-Change Protests Top 1,000

LONDON, April 22 (Reuters) - The number of environmental campaigners arrested during eight days of direct action in London topped 1,000 on Monday, police said, adding that Waterloo Bridge, one of the sites blockaded by the protests, had re-opened to traffic. Climate group Extinction Rebellion has targeted sites in central London, such as Oxford Circus and Parliament Square, in a campaign of non-violent civil disobedience with the aim of stopping what it calls a global climate crisis. Police said 1,065 people had been arrested in connection with the protests, and they had charged 53 with offences including obstructing the highway.

“Our Voices Won’t Be Silenced”: Fighting The SD ‘Riot-Boosting’ Act And The Keystone XL Pipeline

We believe in and act upon the notion that people, nature, society and all living things are interconnected, in relation to one another, and operate as a system. Our Indigenous cultures have taught us through our languages, stories and life ways that our identity and very existence is directly connected to the land.  First proposed in 2008, the 1,200-mile Keystone XL Pipeline would carry as much as 830,000 barrels of heavy crude oil per day from the Alberta, Canada, oil sands through South Dakota to Steele City, Neb., en route to Gulf Coast refineries. Though the proposed pipeline route does not go through federally recognized reservations in South Dakota, should there be an oil spill, it has the potential to seriously affect our land, our water, our environment and future generations.

Thought Police: US, Israel Increasingly Banning & Deporting Ideological Enemies

TEL AVIV/WASHINGTON — Israel and the U.S. are simultaneously stepping up repression in the form of travel restrictions against critics of the apartheid state. A Palestinian activist has been barred from entering the U.S. while an advocate with a leading human rights NGO – Human Rights Watch (HRW) – faced a ruling on Tuesday in Israeli courts which upheld the government’s deportation order against him.  Last week, the U.S. banned a founder of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, one Omar Barghouti, from entering its soil. Though the government’s official explanation was “immigration reasons,” there is plentiful evidence to suspect the ban was meant as a reprisal for his non-violent advocacy.

If Your Country Were Committing War Crimes Would You Want To Know?

A close reading of both the indictment and the criminal complaint against Assange show that journalism is indeed being criminalized. Assange is accused merely of trying to help Chelsea Manning, his source, to hide her identity, not hack into a computer Manning already had legal access to, as the indictment and complaint make plain. It was the administration Clinton belonged to that decided, with the exact same evidence, not to indict Assange because it crossed the red line into making journalism a crime.

Unsealed Affidavit Demonstrates US Seeking To Prosecute Assange For His Journalism

An affidavit unsealed by US prosecutors on Monday has underscored the unlawful character of the Trump administration’s request that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange be extradited to the US in the wake of his illegal expulsion from Ecuador’s London embassy and arrest by the British police last Thursday. The affidavit was made by Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) special agent Megan Brown on December 21, 2017, in support of two charges which had been secretly filed against Assange, under her name.

Fossil Fuel Companies Are Enlisting Police To Crack Down On Protesters

Researchers concluded in January that humanity has a hope, a 64 percent chance, of keeping the temperature rise below the international target of 1.5 degrees Celsius—if the phaseout of fossil fuel infrastructure begins now and every car, plane and power plant in existence gets replaced by a zero-carbon alternative at the end of its life span. “We are basically saying we can’t build anything now that emits fossil fuels,” said Christopher Smith of the University of Leeds, the lead researcher. Meanwhile, the multi-trillion-dollar fossil fuel industry is in the midst of an enormous infrastructure expansion.

Why MSM Will Never Tell The Truth About Assange

The media bashing Assange over “skateboarding” video would never have lasted six months in the draconian conditions he endured. In fact, those “journalists” wouldn’t have even dreamed of standing up to the number of governments Assange did to expose their corruption. They use terms like “overgrown teenager” to describe a man who has more courage and strength than any pencil pushing journalist out there. Compared to Assange they fall short in their reporting 10 times out of 10.

‘Yellow Vest’ Act 22 Reaches 30,000 People Despite Repression

The number of protesters increased in spite of the Anti-riots law and its threats. Police Saturday arrested at least 50 people as the Yellow Vests were performing their 22 consecutive weekend protest against France's President Emmanuel Macron. Summoned through social networks, almost 6,000 people gathered in the city of Toulouse, where 23 people were arrested when marches were trying to depart from the Allee Jean Jaures avenue and its nearby side streets to downtown areas in which demonstrations had been banned.
