Halt On Medical Evacuations Is A Death Sentence For Palestinian Children

The U.S. State Department’s decision this weekend to halt all visitor visas for people from Gaza, which includes the medical-humanitarian visas that have brought injured children to American hospitals, will cost Palestinian lives. Officials say this process will be subject to a “full and thorough review”. For a child with infected burns or a deep trauma wound, a pause is a verdict on their life. The freeze did not arise from new intelligence or any novel identification of problems in the temporary visitor visa pathway. It followed a social-media panic with the circulation of mischaracterized videos of injured children arriving under the care of a U.S. nonprofit being labeled as a “security threat,” rhetoric amplified by political allies. The State Department then announced it was stopping visas while it re-examines procedures.

Black People Who See Themselves In Palestinians Find Israel Sees The Same

Zoharah Simmons’ first trip to Israel and its occupied territories in 1994 got off to an inauspicious start. Born Gwen Robinson in Memphis, Tennessee, the great granddaughter of a slave and a former organizer for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee who volunteered to work in Mississippi during Freedom Summer, Simmons was hardly unfamiliar with European settler colonialism or the violence that is its motor. She was, however, caught off guard by what she experienced upon her arrival in Tel Aviv as part of a peace delegation with the American Friends Service Committee, a social justice organization founded by the Quakers. First, there was the matter of getting past Israel’s immigration and customs agents.

Why National Education Association Members Voted To Support Palestine

As an educator, to me, it’s so important that students are part of the struggle. I know when I was in high school during the Vietnam War, anytime I asked about it, I was shot down and told, “What does that have to do with education?” It has everything to do with education. It has everything to do with growing new leadership and teaching students or helping students, assisting students take the leadership in terms of being involved in the movement for justice. In a sense, Trump and the policies of the federal government have done a lot of the organizing for us because there’s lots of young people who just really want to know what’s going on and want to be involved in stopping it, whether it be Palestine, fighting ICE, or actions against the terrorism of the police.

UN Military Force Needed To Halt Israel’s Assault On Gaza, Tribunal Says

A group of leading academics, legal experts and human rights advocates have called for the creation of a UN-mandated international military force to stop Israel's 22-month-long war on the besieged Gaza Strip. In a statement on Monday, Richard Falk, the president of the Gaza Tribunal Project and a former UN special rapporteur, called on the international community to implement the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) principle. "Law has failed, because it has not been enforced," Falk said at a press conference in Istanbul as he urged the international community to use R2P as a framework for intervention. He noted that the lack of enforcement had left Palestinians unprotected despite clear evidence of mass atrocities.

Gazans Go On Hunger Strike In The Midst Of Famine

Wadea Abu Soud, a reporter for Yemen TV in Gaza and father of four, declared his hunger strike on July 20 alongside two of his colleagues. He says his hunger strike is a message to the world about the famine in Gaza, where most families can’t feed their children. “I am a starving journalist who is attempting to convey the suffering of his starving people,” Abu Soud says. Abu Soud is one of a growing number of journalists and first responders in Gaza who have declared that they are going on hunger strike in the midst of a famine. Their demand is that all of Gaza’s children must be fed. “Our voices are reaching the world,” Abu Soud says. “The occupation has failed to launder its lies to the world.”

New Yorkers Mobilize For Gaza As Protests Grow Around The World

This month has been an especially horrific one in the nearly two-year-long genocide of Gaza. Israel is intentionally starving Gazans, threatening total occupation, and expanding their ethnic cleansing of Palestinian land to the West Bank. But this has all only fueled greater support for the movement for Palestine. The passive sympathy for Palestine which has been growing for a long time has begun to show more publicly. This was apparent in the August 16 rally for Gaza in New York City. The action was initially called by Palestinian Youth Movement and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, groups which have regularly called mobilizations since the start of the genocide.

Launching A Global Campaign Against The Insurers Of Israel’s Genocide

This September, activist groups across five continents plan to strike two of the world’s most powerful insurance companies: AXA and AIG. Together, they are launching a powerful wave of global resistance with a synchronised campaign of disruption. The aim is to expose the companies’ role in fueling genocide, climate destruction, and social collapse. Under the banner ‘Insure Our Survival‘, thousands of campaigners in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas will take action from 8 September. Organisers are calling the wave of action a “coordinated global backlash” against the insurance giants underwriting fossil fuel expansion and weapons war criminal states are using in mass atrocities – particularly in Palestine.

Netanyahu’s Plan To Occupy Gaza Violates World Court Ruling

As the death toll of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip surpasses 61,000 and Israel continues to starve Gazans to death, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made clear that Israel plans to occupy all of Gaza. When asked in an August 7 appearance on Fox News whether Israel would “take control of all of Gaza,” Netanyahu replied, “We intend to.” The Israeli Occupation Forces say they already control about 75 percent of Gaza. The remaining 25 percent includes Gaza City, Khan Younis, and many neighborhoods and refugee camps in central Gaza. Israel’s occupation of Gaza flies in the face of the July 19 ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ, or World Court). I

The Hunt For Anas Al-Sharif’s Killers

By any measure, Anas Al-Sharif should still be alive. On the morning of 10 August 2025, the 28-year-old Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent was doing what he had done since the first days of the Gaza onslaught—reporting from the frontlines, armed only with a camera and a press vest. Outside the main gate of Al Shifa Hospital, in one of the last corners of northern Gaza where journalists could still work, Al-Sharif was filing footage of bombardments that shook the streets around him. Moments later, a missile struck the tent where he and his colleagues were sheltering. Seven people died instantly. Among them: Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa—four Al Jazeera journalists who, like Al-Sharif, had refused to stop documenting the Genocide. Mohammed Al-Khaldi, also a journalist who worked for Sahat Media Platform, and Saad Jundiya, a Palestinian civilian who happened to be present in the scene at the time of attack were also killed.

A Direct Action Group Is Taking Up Palestine Action’s Mantle

On both 10 and 11 August, a direct action group called ‘DISMANTLE’ targeted two companies which enable Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people. In the early hours of 10 August, the group targeted Stemmer Imaging of Tongham, Surrey. Stemmer are a key supplier to Teledyne, who supply the Israeli military with vital equipment, including parts for the F-35 jets, which are central to their offensive air capability. In a short video posted by the DISMANTLE group, an activist uses a traditional shepherd’s sling, as used in Palestine for centuries, to hurl projectiles at the Stemmer Imaging premises. DISMANTLE concluded with a short statement.

Journalist Anas Al-Sharif’s Final Message Released After Israel Assassinates Him

This is my will and my final message. If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. First, peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings. Allah knows I gave every effort and all my strength to be a support and a voice for my people, ever since I opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of the Jabalia refugee camp. My hope was that Allah would extend my life so I could return with my family and loved ones to our original town of occupied Asqalan (Al-Majdal). But Allah’s will came first, and His decree is final. I have lived through pain in all its details, tasted suffering and loss many times, yet I never once hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or falsification.

Israel’s Government Issues ‘Death Sentence’ To Remaining Captives

In June 2024, after Israel’s army slaughtered over 200 civilians in Gaza’s Nuseirat Refugee Camp, including several execution style killings to extricate a hostage, Noa Argamani, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced a new policy: if Israel soldiers came too close to areas where captives were held, the prisoners would lose their lives. Israel’s refusal to heed this policy led to the killing of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five others just over two months later. Now, in a fit of desperation, after failing to force the hand of Hamas through imposed famine and previous campaigns of military pressure, Israel’s security cabinet has approved plans to ethnically cleanse the whole of Gaza City and occupy urban areas where captives might be located.

Israel’s Biggest US Donor Now Owns CBS

After reaching an agreement with President Trump, David Ellison—the son of the second-richest man in the world, Larry Ellison—has acquired Paramount Global, the media giant that owns CBS News. Larry Ellison, the largest private funder of the Israel Defense Forces, is deeply tied to the Israeli national security state and counts Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu among his closest friends. David has already announced significant changes at CBS, promising “unbiased” news coverage and “varied ideological perspectives,” which are widely understood to signal a shift toward right-wing, pro-Trump coverage. Worse still, Bari Weiss, a journalist with a long history of zealous pro-Israel advocacy, is being considered as the network’s new ombudsman, shaping its political direction, precisely because of her “pro-Israel stance.”

Italian Dockworkers Block Passage Of Saudi Ship Carrying Arms For Israel

Workers in the Italian port of Genoa have blocked passage of a Saudi vessel carrying weapons shipments for Israel. The Bahri Yanbu, operated by Saudi shipping firm Bahri, which arrived from Baltimore, Maryland, was slated to take on military hardware made by Italian arms giant Leonardo — including an Oto Melara cannon destined for Abu Dhabi – along with tanks or other heavy weaponry reportedly already positioned in the terminal yard. Routine inspections revealed that the ship was carrying weapons and ammunition for Israel after 40 dock workers boarded the vessel. “We don’t work for war,” said Jose Nivoi from the Autonomous Collective of Port Workers and the Union Sindicale di Base, adding that the Port Authority has promised talks for establishing “permanent observatory on arms trafficking.”

Syria: Nearly 10,000 Killed Since West-Friendly Militants Seized Power

The SOHR reported on Thursday that “due to ongoing violence by local and foreign militants,” at least 9,889 people had been killed since 8 December 2024, the day Damascus fell under the controversial rule of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militant group. The SORH said that 7,449 civilians were among the victims, including 396 children and 541 women. It also stressed that there has been no accountability for killings carried out by members of HTS-affiliated armed factions. This is while “in some cases, perpetrators are being covered up and facts are being distorted.”
