Chaos: The Trump Doctrine For Latin America

The US, under Trump, is unapologetically an empire operating without pretense. International law is for losers. A newly minted War Department, deploying the most lethal killing machine in world history, need not hide behind the sham of promoting democracy. Recall that in 2023 Trump boasted: “When I left, Venezuela was ready to collapse. We would have taken it over, we would have gotten all that oil.” As CEO of the capitalist bloc, Trump’s mission is not about to be restrained by respect for sovereignty. There is only one inviolate global sovereign; all others are subalterns. Venezuela – with our oil under its soil – is now in the crosshairs of the empire.

Machado Offers To Sell $1.7 Trillion Of Venezuela’s Assets To US Corporations

María Corina Machado is a far-right Venezuelan coup leader who has been funded by the US government since at least 2003. The Donald Trump administration is waging war on Venezuela, and if it can succeed in overthrowing the leftist government of President Nicolás Maduro, Machado would help to lead the new pro-US regime in Caracas. Machado won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, despite the fact that she openly supports Trump’s war on her country. She has for years called for a US military intervention to violently topple President Maduro.

US To Build Internment-Style Camps In Israeli-Controlled Gaza

US President Donald Trump's administration is advancing a controversial plan to build what US officials called “Alternate Safe Communities” for displaced Palestinians inside the Israeli-controlled areas in Gaza that make up half of the strip, The Atlantic reported on 10 November. According to The Atlantic, the initiative envisions a string of US-backed settlements for Palestinians screened and approved by Israel’s domestic intelligence service. Anyone – or their relatives – found to be affiliated with or supportive of Hamas would be barred from entry, effectively separating them from the majority still living under Hamas administration on the western side of what Israeli troops now call the “yellow line.”

America Is A Banana Republic

El Presidente Trump is cast in the mold of all tinpot Latin American despots who terrorize their populations, surround themselves with sycophants, goons and crooks, and enrich themselves — Trump and his family have amassed more than $1.8 billion in cash and gifts from leveraging the presidency — while erecting tawdry monuments to themselves. “Trujillo on Earth, God in Heaven” — Trujillo en la tierra, Dios en el cielo — was posted by state order in churches during the 31-year reign of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo in the Dominican Republic. His supporters, like Trump’s, nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump’s con artist pastor, Paula White-Cain, offered an updated version of Trujillo’s self-deification when she warned, “To say no to President Trump would be saying no to God.”

A Diary From The Streets Of South Korea

Jinsoo Koh has been living on a rickety metal overpass that sits above Toegye-ro street in Seoul, across from the old Sejong Hotel. He had been up there illegally for 261 days when I met him. I didn’t go up, and nor did he come down. In either case, one of us would have been arrested. So, we spoke via megaphones, the traffic of the street drowning out our words. Jinsoo worked in the Japanese restaurant of Sejong Hotel as a sashimi chef. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he and 259 workers of the hotel were collectively dismissed, some forced into early retirement. The hotel, whose proprietor also owns Sejong University and other properties, only retained 21 workers and hired subcontracting firms to run the rest of the functions of the hotel with casual workers.

The Working Class Must Not Pay The Price For The Government Shutdown

Twelve days into the government shutdown, Vice President JD Vance threatened federal workers that they would feel the pain if Democrats did not agree to Republicans’ plan: “The longer this goes on, the deeper the cuts are going to be. To be clear, some of these cuts are going to be painful.” Beneath his usual grimace of performative empathy, Vance exposed the callous truth of this face off between the Democratic Party and Trump’s GOP: workers’ lives are nothing but a bargaining chip for the two imperialist parties. Left out in the cold by the Democrats and Republicans, the working class and poor are left to sort it out for ourselves. All workers, public sector and private alike, must demand that our unions take the side — not of the representatives of the bosses — but of the workers and oppressed, using their might to force an end to the shutdown, an end to layoffs and full backpay for all those furloughed, full employment and a living wage for all to feed their families, universal healthcare, and an independent, combative plan of action to fight all of Trump’s attacks on the working class.

What Really Happened In Portland Before Trump Deployed National Guard

President Donald Trump and officials in his administration say National Guard troops are needed in “War ravaged” Portland, Oregon, to protect a local Immigration and Customs Enforcement office that he described as being under siege. But a ProPublica review found a wide gap between the reality on the ground and the characterizations by the president and the Department of Homeland Security, which said ICE facilities like Portland’s were under “coordinated assault by violent groups.” We reviewed federal prosecutions and local arrests, internal protest summaries by the Portland Police Bureau, sworn testimony from local and federal officials as well as more than 700 video clips containing hours of footage posted to social media by protesters, counterprotesters and others.

The New US-Russia Clash In Latin America

Pushback from Latin American leaders are putting a wrench in the works of Donald Trump’s imperial ambitions. The Summit of the Americas– the U.S.-backed conference of regional leaders– has had to be cancelled (or, officially, postponed until 2026) due to threats of a mass boycott of the event. Leading this revolt are Gustavo Petro of Colombia and Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, who both declared they would skip the event in protest of the U.S. treatment of Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua. With the summit promising to be a public relations disaster, the U.S. ordered it cancelled.

VIPS Memo: What Wider War In Venezuela Would Bring

We are deeply concerned about where the United States seems to be headed in its Venezuela policy and urge you to demand that the Intelligence Community give you clear, unfiltered, “truth-to-power” analysis, as well as covert action options in Venezuela. Flying blind into an unprovoked war against a Latin American government, even one weakened by years of U.S. “maximum-pressure” sanctions, risks a conflagration that could draw Russia into the conflict and offers zero probability of establishing a legitimate, pro-U.S. successor government. We see a classic storm of politicization brewing in the Intelligence Community, to which we devoted our careers, as a result of blatant pressures that it give you the “right” answer – fabricating or exaggerating a pretext for direct military intervention in Venezuela.

Trump’s Greatest Ally Is The Democratic Party

The only hope to save ourselves from Trump’s authoritarianism is mass movements. We must build alternative centers of power — including political parties, media, labor unions and universities — to give a voice and agency to those who have been disempowered by our two ruling parties, especially the working class and working poor. We must carry out strikes to cripple and thwart the abuses carried out by the emerging police state. We must champion a radical socialism, which includes slashing the $1 trillion spent on the war industry and ending our suicidal addiction to fossil fuels, and lift up the lives of Americans cast aside in the wreckage of industrialization, declining wages, a decaying infrastructure and crippling austerity programs.

From Tariffs To Tribute: The $350B Price Of ‘Parity’

On October 29, 2025, the carefully scripted pageantry of the US-ROK alliance in Gyeongju and Seoul met an unwelcome counter-narrative from the streets. While US President Donald Trump was being feted with a Silla-era replica gold crown and Korea’s highest honor, thousands of workers, trade unionists, farmers, students, and women’s collectives converged near the APEC venues. They chanted a unified dissent: “No kings!” and “No to APEC for the 1%”. Organizers framed the protest as a demand for the restoration of national dignity against what they saw as an act of economic coercion.

Terms Of Surrender: The Conspiracy To Obstruct Justice In Palestine

In the wake of two years of the globally broadcast extermination of the people of Palestine, three distinct tracks of international response have emerged. One is grounded in justice, international law, human rights, and accountability. Two others are dedicated to impunity, the continued subjugation of the victims, and the normalization of the perpetrator regime. In the diplomatic struggle that has ensued, the justice track is under sustained attack. Left to their own devices, most states — the directly complicit and the timid alike — will undoubtedly take the easy way out, opting for impunity and normalization. But a growing people’s movement from across the globe is mobilized to demand justice.

Trump Failed To Pressure Countries To Support Illegal Blockade Of Cuba

A study by the firm Reputation Lab polled people in 60 major countries, and found that the United States has a very bad reputation. The US ranking fell from what was already a low rank of 30 out of 60 in 2024 to an even worse 48th place in 2025. A clear demonstration of the political isolation of the US government can be seen in votes at the United Nations. The vast majority of countries on Earth voted at the UN General Assembly on 29 October to demand an end to the illegal US blockade of Cuba, which has been maintained in blatant violation of international law for more than six decades. 165 countries, representing 85.5% of the UN’s 193 member states, voted in support of a resolution that emphasized the “necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”.

The US And Israel: Tale Of Two Rogue Settler-Colonial States

Over the last two weeks, images of starving Palestinians in a dystopian backdrop of bombed out buildings reflect the horrific reality of a terrain that has experienced the equivalent of six Hiroshima atomic bombs. It is a reminder that the genocide in Gaza continues even as the pathetic zealous characters surrounding the U.S. President spoke of a ceasefire, an end to the assault on Gaza, and Trump as the peace president. That cynical game was finally brought to an end with the unsurprising announcement by Benjamin Netanyahu, the indicted war criminal and Prime Minister of the ethno-supremacist apartheid state of Israel, that Israel will resume the bombing of the occupied Palestinian people.

Trump Met With Popular Protests In South Korea

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Gyeongju and several other cities in South Korea to oppose US President Donald Trump’s visit to the country on Wednesday, October 29. Protesters in Gyeongju tried to march to the Bomun Tourist Complex, the venue of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. They were stopped nearly five kilometers from the venue by security forces, The Korean Times reported. Despite the security barricade, some of the protesters reached near the summit venue which caused a brief clash with security forces and led to minor injuries. Protesters carried banners and posters denouncing US policies and shouted slogans such as “No King: Trump is not welcome!” and “No APEC!”
