AOC And The Desperate Democrats Attempt To Undermine The Greens

The Green Party is the left party most successful at gaining ballot access across the country. It is unusual for a non-duopoly formation to be on the ballot in more than 40 states. That success is indicative of its platform’s appeal to millions of people who vote for them whenever they are given the chance. There is no other party with a national reach demanding independence for Puerto Rico, the abolition of the electoral college, nuclear disarmament, constitutional protection of the right to vote, the right to health care, an Ecosocialist Green New Deal, and cutting the military budget in half. Because its policy positions are popular, the Greens have become the scapegoats for democrats’ failure and treachery.

‘Vote Joy’ — A Delusion Of Nostalgia

Many commentators have attempted to describe the astonishing devolution of Democratic Party politics into sheer marketing: Kamala Harris as product, “new and improved” like a laundry detergent or a frozen dinner. Vanessa Beeley calls it “cartoon theatrics,” and it’s as good as I’ve seen. In two words the British journalist captures from a useful distance the infantilism of the Harris-for-president campaign and the Hollywoodization of American politics. I thought I’d seen everything in this line until a few days ago, but in this, the most unserious political season of my lifetime, it is incautious to make any such assumption.

The Crisis In Afghanistan Is A Result Of US Recklessness

The third anniversary of the end of the two decades of US war and occupation in Afghanistan coincides with a particularly contentious presidential election year in the US. Both the Democrats and Republicans are busy blaming each other for the fiasco. It is clear that Afghanistan has become yet another embarrassing episode in the long history of US imperial adventures which no one wants to take responsibility for. Two of the top generals in the US army, Mark Miley, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Kenneth McKenzie, former chief of US Central Command, who led the withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, testified in front of Congress earlier this year.

Abandon Biden Becomes Abandon Harris

In July, immediately after President Biden dropped out of the race, we reappeared in front of the Supreme Court in Washington, DC demanding that Vice President Harris speak to us, meet with us. We extended our hand, asking what her policy on Gaza was. What was her policy on the genocide? We wanted to know exactly what was in her mind, since she had worked actively with the president since the genocide began. We wanted to hear from her mouth, in front of us, what she would do if she became the president on January 20. The media took our message, our demands for a permanent, unconditional ceasefire and a full arms embargo, and we were met with complete rejection, no comment, no meeting. That's what led up to our decision that we had no choice but to do what we began in October, that we would denounce the party's position on genocide and begin a campaign against her, as we did on August 19, 2024, outside of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Macron Protested Over Appointment Of Right-Wing Prime Minister

French President Emmanuel Macron has finally nominated a new Prime Minister. However, his choice is not someone from the New Popular Front (NFP), the left-progressive alliance that won the most seats in the recent snap election. Instead, Macron opted for Michel Barnier, a conservative former EU official and Brexit negotiator, igniting yet more anger among left and progressive circles in France. Barnier comes from the ranks of The Republicans, a Gaullist party that garnered approximately 6% of the vote in the recent election. The French president has described him as a choice that will be able to build stability and communication among most parties.

Venezuela Issues Arrest Warrant for US-Backed Former Candidate

The Venezuelan Attorney General’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for former opposition presidential candidate Edmundo González. On Monday, state prosecutor Luis Ernesto Dueñez requested that the Court of First Instance with competence over terrorism-related matters approve the order to arrest the US-backed politician for the charges of usurpation of functions, public document forgery, instigation of law-breaking, conspiracy, sabotage and association to commit crimes. Later in the day, Judge Edward Briceño approved the warrant and tasked the CICPC investigative police unit with executing it.

Venezuela’s Courts Order Arrest of Former Candidate Edmundo González

The Venezuelan courts took action in response to the blatant disregard of the law displayed by former far-right presidential candidate Edmundo González. This Monday, September 2, Venezuela’s Anti-Terrorist Court of First Instance issued an arrest warrant for González and commissioned the Scientific, Penal, and Criminal Investigation Service Corps (CICPC) to execute the ruling. After the July 28 presidential elections, González decided to not-recognize the electoral results. González’s Unitary Platform created websites announcing alleged electoral results that contradicted the official results released by Venezuelan authorities.

The French Left Won The Election But Macron Is Blocking Them

The Nouveau Front Populaire (New Popular Front) left-wing alliance won the most seats in France’s snap legislative election in early July. It took 182 seats, while president Emmanuel Macron’s ‘centrist’ coalition Ensemble took 168 and far right Rassemblement National (National Rally) won 143. The New Popular Front, a coalition of left-wing leader Jean-Luc Melenchon’s La France Insoumise (Unsubmissive France), social democrats, Greens, and communists, were short of the 289 seats needed for a majority. But they still won the most seats, with other coalitions even further off. Nonetheless, Macron, as president, has refused to appoint a prime minister from the left-wing coalition.

Honduran President Xiomara Castro Rejects US Interference

Honduran President Xiomara Castro announced on August 28 that she ordered the suspension of the extradition agreement between her country and the United States. The move was in response to comments made by the US Ambassador to Honduras, Laura Dogu, regarding different high-ranking Honduran officials who had traveled to Venezuela. The Honduran head of state wrote in a post, “The interference and interventionism of the United States, as well as its intention to direct the politics of Honduras through its Embassy and other representatives, is intolerable. They attack, disregard and violate with impunity the principles and practices of international law, which promote respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples, non-intervention and universal peace.

Edmundo González Disobeys Public Ministry’s Third Summons

The former Venezuelan presidential candidate for the extreme-right Unitary Platform, Edmundo González, disobeyed for the third time the summons of the Public Ministry (MP), where he had been called to testify as a person under investigation for several crimes. Edmundo González was supposed to go to the Attorney General’s Office at 10 a.m. (Caracas time) this Friday. González has been accused of usurpation of functions, forging of public documents, incitement to disobedience of laws, cyber crimes, criminal association, and conspiracy. Currently, the MP is investigating the extreme-right politician for the publication of alleged voting records on the webpage resultadosconvzla.com.

‘Democracies’ Attack Journalism As They Attack Democracy Itself

The nations of the collective west love to brag and to praise themselves as being democracies. They say they abhor authoritarian, autocratic governments and constantly condemn anyone they don’t like as belonging to that club. In reality, the word democracy is used to fool the gullible into accepting actions and policies they ought to reject and also as a weapon meant to disguise evil intent. But the facade is cracking as the dictatorial tendency becomes harder to hide. Here in the United States, Kamala Harris became the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee after wealthy donors orchestrated a coup against the sitting president they put into office four years earlier.

The Sound Of Enforced Silence

Is there some connection, — not quite official but it may as well be— between censorship and presidential politics? I pose the question as a survivor of the Russiagate years, when illiberal liberals started talking about “free-speech absolutists,” and when corporate journalists cheered the censoring of unincorporated journalists so long as it was called “content moderation.”

The Democratic Party Is Trying To Kick Socialists Off The Ballot

In key states for the 2024 US Presidential elections, the Democratic Party machine is carrying out attacks on the democratic process, attempting to limit ballot access for socialist candidate Claudia De La Cruz. In the critical states of Georgia and Pennsylvania, which historically are often toss-ups between the presidential candidates of the two major establishment parties, Democrats are attempting to secure their victory by pushing left-wing progressives off the ballot. De la Cruz’s campaign won a major victory on August 29, however, when Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger ruled that there was no basis for the campaign to be excluded from the ballot.

The ‘Comanditos,’ The Terrorist Network Of Fascism In Venezuela

The “comanditos” were part of an organizational strategy promoted by the Venezuelan far-right opposition leader, María Corina Machado. The fundamental purpose was to organize society into small groups that would serve as hotbeds of violence in different parts of the country. The organizational strategy revealed different stages. The first was the dissemination of the strategy using hegemonic media. These were in charge of disseminating manipulated information, explaining in detail the masked meaning of the strategy. According to the Diario Nacional, the “comanditos” were defined as a “crucial force for the success of the opposition’s strategy of motivating citizen participation in adverse conditions.”

Venezuela’s Public Ministry Summons Former Candidate Edmundo Gonzalez

The Public Ministry of Venezuela issued a summons addressed to former presidential candidate Edmundo González to appear on Monday morning, for his alleged responsibility in the crimes of usurpation of electoral functions, forgery of public documents, instigation to disobedience of laws, cyber crimes, criminal association, and conspiracy. The summons were issued on Friday, August 23, by the Office of the Attorney General of Venezuela. “As Attorney General Tarek William Saab announced on Friday at a press conference, former candidate Edmundo González Urrutia has been summoned to give his statements regarding his alleged responsibility in the crimes of usurpation of functions, forgery of public documents, instigation to disobedience of laws, cyber crimes, criminal association, and conspiracy,” the Public Ministry reported in a statement.
