Wars and Militarism

Netanyahu Orders Israeli Army To Conquer All Of Gaza

The Israeli war cabinet met on Monday to decide on the next phase of Israel’s war on Gaza. The meeting was reportedly to choose between ending the war in favor of ceasefire talks or expanding it to reoccupy the entire Strip. According to initial unconfirmed reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has briefed “friendly journalists” that he has ordered the Israeli army to “conquer Gaza” in the face of opposition from the army’s Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir. Netanyahu’s office reportedly told N12: “The decision has been made — Israel is going to conquer the Gaza Strip.”

New Report: US Economic Wars Kill Over 560,000 People Every Year

The Lancet, a renowned medical journal, recently published a groundbreaking report on the number of people who die each year as a result of economic sanctions primarily imposed by the United States. US economic wars have killed more than 560,000 people each year for the past ten years, over half of those killed are children five years of age and younger. This number is higher than the number of people who die in military conflicts. Clearing the FOG speaks with Sara Flounders, a co-founder of the Sanctions Kill campaign, about what sanctions are, how they kill, and why the United States wages economic warfare.

Retired Security Officials Warn Israel On ‘Precipice Of Defeat’

Over a dozen former Israeli security officials issued a joint video statement on 3 August demanding an end to the war in Gaza and warning that Tel Aviv is on the brink of “defeat.” Former officials have also demanded that US President Donald Trump pressure Israel to end the genocidal campaign which has raged since October 2023 – in a separate letter accompanying the video and signed by 550 former security officials. The video statement was made by 19 retired army chiefs, intelligence heads, Shin Bet and Mossad directors, and police commissioners.

Israel Launches Ground Raids In Southwest Syria

Israeli ground troops have carried out multiple ground raids across southwestern Syria over the weekend, including overnight raids in the Quneitra Governorate overnight Saturday, which led to the capture of multiple “suspects” who have not been conclusively identified and appear to simply be local Syrians. On Friday, Israeli troops attacked farmers near Jubata al-Khashab, first opening fire on them while they were actively farming their own land then confiscating a tractor in the area because the tractor was trying to haul away trees within the area which Israeli military bulldozers had recently knocked down. Three Syrians were captured in that incident.

Trump Deploys Nuclear Subs Amid War Of Words With Russia

US President Donald Trump ordered the repositioning of two nuclear submarines on 2 August in response to “highly provocative” comments made by Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council. “I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social Platform on Friday. On Thursday, Medvedev had warned that Trump should be mindful of “how dangerous” Russia's nuclear weapons could be.

The CIA Built Hundreds Of Covert Websites

The CIA didn’t just infiltrate governments; it infiltrated the internet itself. For over a decade, Langley operated a sprawling network of covert websites that served as global spy terminals disguised as harmless blogs, news hubs, and fan pages. Beginning in 2004, the CIA established a vast network of at least 885 websites, ranging from Johnny Carson and Star Wars fan pages to online message boards about Rastafari. Spanning 29 languages and targeting at least 36 countries directly, these websites were aimed not only at adversaries such as China, Venezuela, and Russia, but also at allied nations, including France, Italy, and Spain, showing that the United States treats its friends much like its foes.

Iran Sets Conditions For US Nuclear Talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview published on 31 July that Tehran is seeking financial compensation for Israel’s war, an explanation on why Iran was attacked during negotiations, and security guarantees for any resumption of nuclear talks with Washington. Araghchi told the Financial Times (FT) that Iran will not accept going back to “business as usual” after Israel launched its unprovoked war on the country in mid-June. “They should explain why they attacked us in the middle of … negotiations, and they have to ensure that they are not going to repeat that [during future talks]. And they have to compensate [Iran for] the damage that they have done,” Araghchi added.

Gamaan: The Polling Op That’s Gaslighting The West About Iran

The Group for Analyzing and Measuring Attitudes in Iran (GAMAAN), an influential Dutch polling group cited by the New York Times, U.S. State Department and U.K. government, claims to capture the true views of everyday Iranians through unconventional online surveys. GAMAAN calls itself an “independent” research foundation, a label echoed by news outlets and think tanks covering the group’s headline-grabbing findings, which portray the Iranian public as far more secular and anti-government than data from organizations such as Gallup and Pew Research suggest.

Israel Planning ‘Major Offensive’ Against Yemen

Israel is planning a “major offensive” against Yemen and is waiting for a green light from the Israeli political echelon, Israel’s Channel 14 reported on 23 July. “The Israeli security establishment is working around the clock on a major offensive plan against the Yemeni Ansarallah group, which will put an end to the numerous terrorist incidents and rocket attacks on Israel,” the Hebrew channel said. “We are building capabilities, and we will know how to activate them once the political echelon makes a decision,” a senior official told the outlet. “What we accomplished in 12 minutes in Iran, we will also know how to do in Yemen,” the official added.

Campaigners Gear Up To Send Trump Packing From Scotland This Saturday

Campaign groups planning a ‘festival of resistance’ to coincide with Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Scotland have announced demonstrations in Aberdeen and Edinburgh on Saturday 26 July. With Trump expected to arrive in Scotland between July 25-29, trade unions, disability rights activists, climate justice campaigners, Palestinian and Ukrainian solidarity groups, and American diaspora organisations are among those now organising multiple days of events to give him a fitting welcome. The coalition has called on first minister John Swinney not to meet with the US president, whose authoritarian administration has links to the far-right across the UK and Europe.

Armenia To Cede Control Of Zangezur Corridor To United States

A confidential memorandum obtained by Periodista Digital reveals a controversial agreement that would place Armenia's Zangezur Corridor under US control for 99 years, effectively surrendering key national territory to US private military companies and facilitating unimpeded Azerbaijani access to Nakhchivan and Turkiye. The document, titled “Memorandum of Understanding on the Creation of the 'Trump Bridge' Transport Corridor,” has reportedly been approved by Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the US, according to the Spanish newspaper.

Veterans And Allies Come Together At A Critical Moment In History

After six years apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic, military veterans and peace activists from around the world will gather in-person once again for the Veterans For Peace National Convention, held July 24–27, 2025, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The hybrid event also offers virtual access for attendees worldwide. Veterans For Peace, a national organization of former service members committed to ending war and militarism, will host workshops, speakers, and strategy sessions focused on peacebuilding, climate justice, and veterans' advocacy—including issues like demilitarizing police, returning deported veterans, confronting mass deportation, and ending U.S. involvement in Gaza and Ukraine.

Peace And Development Are Better Than Austerity And War

Reason seems to have been gradually abolished by the language of bombs. As weapons systems get ‘smarter’ and ‘smarter’, the range of diplomatic instruments used by the Global North states becomes blunter and blunter. US and European diplomats have returned to the old colonial habit of speaking loudly and brusquely, lecturing the natives about what they should or should not do while they themselves do whatever they want. If the natives do not agree, then the old colonial rulers simply threaten to cut off their hands or bomb their homes.

Medvedev Condemns Western ‘Treachery’

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev warned on 17 July that Moscow must be prepared to deliver preemptive strikes against the west if necessary. Speaking to TASS on the 80th anniversary of the Potsdam Conference, Medvedev said, “The west's treacherous nature and its warped sense of superiority are still evident. And we should therefore act accordingly, responding in full or even delivering preemptive strikes if need be.” Reflecting on the historical lessons of 1945, Medvedev added that the conference – attended by the leaders of the USSR, US, and UK after their victory in World War II – revealed that relations with the west must not be based on illusions.

Trump’s 50-Day Deadline Threat Against Putin Will Backfire

In the first six months of his second term, President Donald Trump has demonstrated his love for three things: deals, tariffs, and ultimatums. He got to combine these passions during his Oval Office meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Monday. Only moments after the two leaders announced a new plan to get military aid to Ukraine, Trump issued an ominous 50-day deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a ceasefire. “We're going to be doing secondary tariffs if we don't have a deal within 50 days,” Trump told the assembled reporters. The threat is unlikely to change Putin’s calculus, however, or bring the conflict to a near-term conclusion.
