Assassination

What’s Behind The Assassination Of Haitian President Moïse?

The assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse sent shockwaves through the tiny Caribbean island nation and beyond. While little is known about what happened overnight Wednesday, it appears that a group of foreign mercenaries with inside knowledge of Moïse’s home were responsible for carrying out the operation that killed him. Moïse was an extremely unpopular figure who had overstayed his term as president as was ruling by decree. Mass protests against his rule and corruption have coalesced into a revolutionary movement led by former police officer Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier. Cherizier has managed to unite nine gangs into a single movement aimed at redistributing wealth amassed by the country’s wealthy minority.

Haitian Movements Caution Against Foreign Intervention

In the early hours of July 7, unidentified armed men attacked the house of Haiti’s de-facto president Jovenel Moïse and shot him dead. In the attack, his wife was also severely injured and according to reports she has been hospitalized in Miami, Florida. Haiti’s interim prime minister, now acting president, Claude Joseph, confirmed the news in the early morning and declared a 14-day state of siege. Joseph assured that the “security situation of the country is under control” and called on the citizens to remain calm. In the evening, the secretary of State Communication, Frantz Exantus, reported that two suspects in president’s assassination had been arrested by the national police in the afternoon in Pelerin.

Colombian Group Arrested Linked To The Assassination Of Moise

At least 28 people assassinated President Jovenel Moise, Haitian police said Thursday, adding that 26 were Colombian and two were Americans of Haitian origin. Eight of them, all Colombians, were still at large, national police director-general Leon Charles said at a news conference, adding that 17 including the two Americans had been arrested. The director of Noticias Caracol, Juan Roberto Vargas, informed on BLU Radio that several Colombians were among those captured for the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise. The Haitian Ministry of Elections presented those arrested as allegedly responsible for the assassination. Fifteen of them are from Colombia.

Scheer Intelligence: The FBI’s Crusade Against MLK Was Darker Than You Think

“You are done. There is only one way out for you. You better take it before your filthy, abnormal fraudulent self is bared to the nation.” That’s the shocking ending to the infamous letter Civil Rights hero Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. received in 1964 essentially urging him to commit suicide.  The letter and accompanying package containing blackmail were sent by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as King quickly caught on. While the full, unredacted letter was finally published by the New York Times in 2014, the audio recordings of an extensive FBI wiretapping operation targeting King have been sealed until 2027.

New Documents Suggest J. Edgar Hoover Was Involved In Fred Hampton’s Murder

In March 1976, we sat in a cavernous Chicago courtroom while FBI agent Roy Martin Mitchell testified in the federal civil rights case that we and our partners at the People’s Law Office had brought on behalf of the families of slain Illinois Black Panther leaders Fred Hampton and Mark Clark and the seven survivors of the murderous pre-dawn Chicago police raid on their West Side apartment. Thanks to the liberation of FBI documents from the Media, Pennsylvania FBI offices, the revelations of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Activities and our own hotly contested pretrial battles to uncover the truth about the raid, we had been able to document the local FBI’s central role in setting up the raid as part of the Bureau’s secret and highly illegal COINTELPRO Program.

Canada Knew About The Plan To Assassinate Gen. Soleimani Before It Happened

Canada’s former top military commander says that the U.S. gave Canada a heads-up on its plan to kill top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, according to his interview with the Globe and Mail this past week.  General Jonathan Vance recently retired from his position as Canada’s Chief of Defence Staff, but left with some key information about Gen. Soleimani’s assassination.  In his interview, the Globe and Mail reports him saying that the Pentagon alerted Ottawa on its plans to kill Gen. Soleimani so that it could put in “force protection measures” in case of Iranian counterstrikes.  However, right after the assassination, Canada’s National Defence Minister, Harjit Sajjan, said that the United States did not provide Canada with the details of its targeted U.S. drone strike that killed Gen. Soleimani in Iraq.

Trump’s Support For Israel’s Killing Of Iranian Scientist Could Lead To War

In the weeks remaining before Joe Biden’s inauguration, Donald Trump is taking actions — including aiding and abetting murder — to prevent his successor from pursuing diplomacy with Iran. On November 27, Israel assassinated Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Iran’s top nuclear scientist. International law expert Richard Falk called it “an outrageous act of state terrorism.” Although the Israeli government has not claimed credit for the illegal killing, there is little doubt of its culpability. Trump implicitly praised the assassination, retweeting a comment by Israeli journalist and intelligence expert Yossi Melman that the killing was a “major psychological and professional blow” to Iran.

US Role In Assassination Of Iranian Scientist

The targeted assassination of top Iranian physicist and nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh on Nov. 27, and Donald Trump’s immediate approving Tweet, confirm the determination of U.S. and Israeli rulers to sabotage every possible effort for peace or normalization of relations with Iran or the region. The multi-pronged attack involved at least one explosion and small-arms fire by a number of assailants. Regardless of who the media blame, whether Israel or the Washington-supported Iranian terrorist group People’s Mujahedin Organization, this latest act of state-sponsored terrorism follows decades of U.S. sanctions, sabotage, and assassinations against Iran, plus invasions and occupations of surrounding countries.

Assassination Strengthens Iranian Hardliners

Israel used all four years of Trump’s presidency to entrench its systems of occupation and apartheid. Now that Joe Biden has won the U.S. election, the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist, likely by Israel with the go-ahead from the U.S. administration, is a desperate attempt to use Trump’s last days in office to sabotage Biden’s chances of successful diplomacy with Iran. Biden, Congress and the world community can’t let that happen.   On Friday Iran’s top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, was assassinated in the Iranian city of Absard outside of Tehran.

Nuclear Scientist Is Assassinated Inside Iran

A nuclear scientist was just assassinated inside Iran, probably by Israel with Trump administration connivance — but, so far, the New York Times is distorting the news and ignoring the probable and dangerous Israeli/Trump motivation for the killing. The scientist, Mohsin Fakhrizadeh, was shot dead in an ambush in northern Iran. The Times report did say that “three intelligence officials” attributed the attack to Israel, but the paper barely explored the connection further. The Times started off its misleading coverage by asserting that Fakhrizadeh “was seen as the force behind Iran’s nuclear weapons program.”

Does The US Military Assassinate Journalists?

As the cries of United States’ ‘exceptionalism’ are heard from the hallowed halls of Congress, one of the alleged hallmarks is freedom of the press. No nation, the breathless masses are told, protects press freedom like the United States. This belief is similar to Santa Claus: pleasant, comforting, but having no basis in truth. The government only allows news to be reported that is favorable to the U.S. Censorship has accompanied all its major wars, with the government actually writing articles for news outlets. Historian William Clayton Mullendore, in commenting on censorship during World War I, said...

Report: How Many Environmental Activists Were Killed Last Year

The year 2019 was the most dangerous on record for environmental activists, a new report says. Every day around the world, people stand up to companies exploiting land for profit, felling trees, damming and polluting waterways, displacing ancestral homes and destroying wildlife habitats. Every week, an average of four of these defenders are killed.  The Global Witness Defending Tomorrow report, released Tuesday, counted 212 people killed last year for their efforts to protect the Earth from the destructive effects of development for oil and gas, mineral extraction, agriculture, logging and other practices.

US: American Journalist Has No Right To Challenge Decision To Assassinate Him

The US Government has asked the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to affirm the dismissal of American journalist Bilal Abdul Kareem’s challenge to his Government’s apparent decision to assassinate him without telling him why, or affording him the constitutional right to due process. Mr Kareem is a recipient of the Edward R. Murrow and Peabody Awards, who grew up in Mount Vernon, New York, and used to be a stand-up comedian in New York City. He has been reporting on the conflict from Syria since it began. In 2016, he narrowly escaped being killed on five separate occasions, including two strikes on cars he was travelling in and a further two strikes on the headquarters of his news agency, On The Ground News.

No. 1 Sponsor Of Terrorism? US Media Name Iran, But Overlook A Candidate Closer To Home

After the illegal assassination of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, FAIR (1/9/20) noted that the corporate media offered no moral objections to murdering another country’s high-ranking state official. The media consensus was that Soleimani was a despicable “terrorist” responsible for the deaths of “hundreds of Americans”—a formula that buried the crucial distinction between terrorism and armed resistance...

Iran/USA: Assassination Aftermath–Is There A Win-Win Way Out?

Following the outrageous US assassinations of Iran’s General Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi General Abu Mahdi Al Muhandis on Iraqi territory, dynamics are in flux. While both promise and peril are in the air, parties may be ratcheting down tensions to avoid a cataclysmic escalation. Given the lemon of the assassinations, can we make lemonade, informed by the TRANSCEND Method? Is there a way to create a new reality that addresses the interests of major parties?
