Farmworker Union To Hold New Election

Members of the second-largest farmworkers union in the U.S. will elect leaders on September 21 and 22. It’s a rerun of an election two years ago, following accusations that many members were effectively disenfranchised in that vote. The Farm Labor Organizing Committee agreed to the new election in a voluntary compliance agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) last year. The union has 1,500 members in North Carolina, Virginia, and Ohio. Its primary collective bargaining agreement, with the North Carolina Growers Association, covers 9,000 farmworkers scattered across 750 North Carolina farms.

Russia Is Not Bluffing: To Avoid WWIII, The US Must Find A Diplomatic Offramp

Last week, the United States was considering Ukraine's request for long-range missiles that could strike more deeply into Russian territory. The Russian government made it clear that this would be viewed as a declaration of war and that it would respond with attacks on NATO countries, including the United States. Clearing the FOG speaks with Scott Ritter about the current state of the Ukraine proxy war against Russia. Ritter explained that had the United States not backed down, World War III could have started. Ritter also discusses the escalating attack on free speech and his new campaign, Operation Dawn, which will launch on September 28 in Kingston, New York.

Electoral Politics Are Not The Way Forward For The Palestine Movement

Seldom have causes defined the Left within the United States like the fight for Palestinian liberation. Palestine sits at the intersection of myriad struggles ranging from anti-imperialism, anti-colonialism, anti-racism, LGBTQ+ liberation, labor justice, environmental justice, and more. This struggle, one that has been waged globally for decades, and in the United States, has remained a contentious issue across the political spectrum – an issue plagued with accusations of antisemitism, Islamophobia, and deeply ingrained chauvinism. The Left has not been spared amid that contention. This is far from surprising. After all, the Left in the United States is far from monolithic, nor are those who consider themselves a part of it immune from the upholding of colonial rhetoric and belief systems, analytical shortcomings, chauvinism – the list goes on.

The US Attempted Coup In Venezuela Uses New Cyber Tools

The peoples around the world have looked to Venezuela as a vanguard leading Nuestra América in its second independence struggle, against the US. The US rulers operate as the inheritor of the European colonial empires, assuming the right to interfere in other countries’ elections, and dictate who are the winners. No other country - save US underlings in Europe, and Israel - dares to violate international law so brazenly. The Venezuelan right-wing had no real plan to win a democratic election, but instead prepared for a coup d’etat even before the polls closed. Working with the US government and corporate media, they allege President Maduro stole the July 28 presidential election, then committed human rights abuses to crush protests.

US Imposes New Imperial Sanctions Against Venezuelan Officials

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), belonging to the US Department of the Treasury, has imposed new set of unlawful sanctions against Venezuela. The new sanctions, announced by a US Treasury press release published this Thursday, September 12, target 16 officials from different public branches and the military for supporting the sovereign and democratic will of the Venezuelan people in the last presidential elections on July 28 and refusing to follow the latest US-led imperial coup plot aiming at ousting President Nicolás Maduro. According to the statement, the new sanctions against Venezuela include “key officials” involved in the presidential elections, which gave Nicolás Maduro the victory with more than 52% of the votes.

The Second First Presidential Debate

Nearly all public polls in the USA today, and since the beginning of 2024, show that the number #1 issue for American voters is the condition of the economy. But listening to the debate this evening one would have heard little discussion about it—and even less about solutions—from either candidate. The ABC moderators started off the discussion with what one hoped would have set a positive tone for the debate in that regard. They actually said the number 1 issue was the economy and cost of living and challenged both candidates with the appropriate phrase: “Is the economy better off today than four years ago!”

Venezuela’s Parliament To Request Break Of Relations With Spain

The president of the Venezuelan National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, has asked the Foreign Policy Commission of parliament to prepare a report calling for President Nicolás Maduro’s administration to break diplomatic, commercial, and consular relations with Spain—including the suspension of commercial passenger flights—in response to the decision of the Spanish Congress to ignore the democratic victory of President Nicolás Maduro in the July 28 Venezuelan elections, and instead “recognize” the fictitious “victory” of the far-right opposition’s former candidate, Edmundo González.

Trump Party Versus Cheney Party

Dick “Darth Vader” Cheney, has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for president. His daughter, Liz Cheney, has also endorsed Harris. “In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” said the former vice president in a statement, adding, “As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.” Cheney was a charter signatory to the notorious neoconservative think tank Project for the New American Century, and as vice president played a leading role in the George W Bush administration’s soaring warmongering, militarism and authoritarianism, including most famously the invasion of Iraq.

Protest Near Presidential Debate Opposes Bipartisan Support For Israel

Philadelphia, PA – Protesters opposing the ongoing Israeli genocide in occupied Palestine are gathering near the security perimeter erected outside the National Constitution Center — the site of the first debate between 2024 presidential candidates Kamala Harris (D) and Donald Trump (R). A call to “shut down the presidential debate for Gaza” was announced by the Philly Palestine Coalition to rally at City Hall, which is east of the debate site. Pennsylvania is considered the largest swing state in the presidential election. The statewide winner will take all 19 electoral votes. Street closures entered effect Tuesday morning on Arch and Market streets between 4th and 7th streets in Philadelphia’s historic Old City east of Center City.

Venezuela Election: US And Accomplices Left Grasping At Straws

The people of Venezuela have defeated a high-tech US-led coup. The nation’s electoral authority was able not only to hold election 31st but, despite facing a colossal attack against the nation’s computerised electoral system, it was able to announce the July 28 election results that showed the people of Venezuela, by re-electing President Maduro for the 2025-2031, resulted victorious against, yet another nasty US-run ‘regime change’ push. The coup plot involved a massive and sustained, months-long, world corporate media campaign spewing an unusually homogenous message that president Maduro would be electorally defeated, quoting ‘polls’ that gave US-supported, extreme right-wing candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez (fielded by the Unitary Platform coalition, PUD), 80% of the vote.

France’s ‘President Of The Rich’ Macron Steals Election He Lost

France’s leader Emmanuel Macron, a multimillionaire investment banker known popularly as the “president of the rich”, has been accused by the country’s left-wing opposition of stealing the election and carrying out a “coup”. In June and July, France held two rounds of voting. Macron lost the election, while a coalition of leftist parties came in first place. But Macron refused to allow them to form a government. Instead, Macron made a tacit alliance with the French far right to keep the left out of power, and he appointed as prime minister a conservative politician from an unpopular party that came in fourth place and earned just around 6% of the vote.

300,000 March Against Appointment Of Conservative Prime Minister

On Saturday, September 7, approximately 300,000 people took to the streets across France to protest President Emmanuel Macron’s appointment of conservative Michel Barnier as Prime Minister. The protests, led by left and progressive groups, reflect growing anger at Macron’s decision to bypass the election results and avoid a progressive government. A massive rally in Paris saw 160,000 demonstrators, with thousands more gathering in cities like Lille, Bordeaux, and Marseille. The protesters are demanding that Macron respect basic democratic mechanisms and the results of the July general election, in which the left-progressive coalition, the New Popular Front (NFP), secured the most parliamentary seats.

Race, Rights And Repression

As the presidential election will take place in about two months, we need to discuss the prospects of peace, if any, under a Harris or Trump administration, but specifically in Palestine and in the West Asia region, but Ukraine is still an issue, more than two years after Russia's special military operation began. Who is in charge of the US as Ukraine undertakes an incursion into Russia, and what does this mean for the future? Also, we'll talk about AFRICOM, the US Africa Command, which was founded in October of 2008 in the waning days of the George W Bush administration, but under Obama and other presidents, has grown significantly. Also, how does this impact domestic policy, with the 1033 program giving surplus military equipment to police departments and the IDF training of police forces, why do we have a more than $800 billion military budget, which, of course, is a leading cause of austerity.

France Protests Against Macron’s Coup, Calls For Impeachment

Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of several French cities on Saturday, September 7 to protest against what has been dubbed as “electoral theft” committed by President Emmanuel Macron who appointed far-right Michel Barnier as the prime minister of the country despite the fact that Barnier’s party won on;y 5% of the vote in the latest general elections. The protests were called by the center-left coalition New Popular Front (NFP) in more than 150 cities across France. The protests were organized in opposition to Macron ‘s appointment of Les Républiques party’s Michel Barnier as prime minister, a decision that has been widely criticized by the French left, which has called it a coup against the people’s will, as it was the NFP that had received the maximum number of seats in the July 7 parliamentary elections but had failed to win an absolute majority.

The Paradox Of Progress For Black Americans

As the country moves rapidly toward the 2024 elections, Black Americans are experiencing the best economic conditions they’ve had in generations. Record low unemployment rates, record low poverty rates, and record high levels of income and wealth paint a picture of Black prosperity. Yet African Americans remain mired in great economic insecurity, reflected in their low opinion of the economy, widespread asset poverty, and ongoing economic inequality between Black and white households. The best Black economy in generations, in short, isn’t enough. To overcome centuries of inequality, we’ll need dedicated public policy.
