The voyage went relatively well up until the interception. We sailed with the 1000 Madleens to Gaza flotilla so we spent some time catching up to them, waiting for them and then sailing with them. I met a couple of their people while we were in prison and at the hotel after we were released. They were good folks - and highly skilled sailors as well.
The weather on the passage was mixed. We had a decent blow a couple of days in and seas were running a meter to a meter and a half. The medical staff used almost all of our seasickness medication during the week we were at sea but we never ran out. Fortunately, things calmed down for the last three days of the voyage. Generally, spirits ran high among the participants and I never felt like we were worried about the Israelis doing anything to us at all.
Trump Threatens To ‘Kill’ Hamas Over Execution Of Israeli-Backed Gangs

US President Donald Trump threatened late Thursday, October 16, that he would endorse a military action against Hamas if it continues to target local gangs hired by Israel in the besieged Gaza strip.
“If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
Trump’s stern warning was proclaimed, days after he was asked by reporters onboard Air Force One about the executions of who they considered Hamas’ rivals, suggesting they are a sign that Hamas is reestablishing its authority in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The answer of the US president then was totally contradictory to his Thursday post on Truth Social, because he confirmed to reporters that the US had given approval to the Palestinian group to do so “for a period of time” to eradicate crimes, and stop problems.
US Repatriates Survivors Of Its Latest Boat Attack In The Caribbean

For the first time since the US began extrajudicially bombing boats in Venezuelan waters this year, a US military attack did not result in the deaths of all crew members. It was reported that there were two survivors after the bombing of what the US called a “drug boat” without providing evidence.
The incident comes amid an ongoing US military escalation in the Caribbean targeting Venezuela, under the guise of a supposed anti-drugs operation. The illegal US military actions in the international waters close to Venezuela, which include blowing up of civilian boats, have left almost 30 people dead in since early September, with no evidence presented of the victims’ alleged ties to drug trafficking. These actions are part of a U.S. military expansion in the southern Caribbean, with destroyers, F-35 fighter jets, a nuclear submarine, and some 10,000 troops deployed.
‘Newspeak’ Comes To The Energy Department

In George Orwell’s novel, 1984, a totalitarian regime now rules the homeland and operates by three slogans: 1) War is peace, 2) freedom is slavery and 3) ignorance is strength. In 1984 the term “Newspeak” refers to what is essentially a mandatory style guide for using the English language under that regime by substituting Newspeak formulations for common words and phrases so as to make public discourse conform to the ruling party’s orthodoxy. (For a list Newspeak words and phrases, check here.)
Not surprisingly, failure to conform to this style in written and oral communications is considered a crime. In fact, to think thoughts contrary to those expressed in Newspeak terms is considered a “thoughtcrime” because it implies one’s personal values are not in harmony with official party dogma.

Alfred Nobel’s will spelled out how he wanted to honor those who are accomplished in the fields of medicine, literature, physics, chemistry, and “the person who has done the most or best to advance fellowship among nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and the establishment and promotion of peace congresses.” While Nobel’s wishes would seem to be clear, the Nobel Peace Prize is rarely awarded to anyone who actually works for peace as Nobel described.
There are many worthy people and organizations who have carried out good deeds for humanity, but few of the winners have actually been peacemakers.

As Donald Trump congratulates Israel for its conduct of the genocide in Gaza, he should be charged with aiding and abetting genocide, not given the Nobel Peace Prize.
In his speech on Monday to the Israeli Knesset, Trump spent an hour bragging about how he ended the “war” in Gaza and “an age of terror and death,” declaring, “This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East.”
He decried the “thousands of innocent Israeli civilians” who “were attacked by terrorists in one of the most evil and heinous desecrations of innocent life the world has ever seen; the worst slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust,” adding, “The cruelty of October 7th struck to the core of humanity itself. Nobody could believe what they were witnessing.”

In December 2022, Israeli Ministry of Energy launched the Fourth Offshore Bid Round offering new exploration licenses. A year later, it awarded licenses to several Israeli and international companies: Eni (Italy), Dana Petroleum (UK, a subsidiary of a South Korean company, and Ratio Petroleum (Israel). The problem is that these tenders violated international law. A few months later in June 2023, following years of stalled talks, Israel approved the development of the Gaza Marine field, while Egypt’s state-owned EGAS (Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company) was to lead extraction efforts in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority.
The Good And Bad Of Amazon’s ‘Dark Patterns’ Settlement
When the U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced it had settled its “dark patterns” lawsuit against Amazon last month, leaders at the antitrust and consumer protection watchdog celebrated.
“Today, we are putting billions of dollars back into Americans’ pockets, and making sure Amazon never does this again,” FTC chair Andrew Ferguson said. Ferguson, whom Trump appointed chair in January, is, of course, duty-bound to champion the deal as a victory for consumers and the administration. But the real impacts and costs of the agency’s deal with Amazon are more complicated.

Climate change has a new partner in its quest to alter life as we know it: Nuclear, the power buzzword for the AI Holy Grail of human submission to digital electrons mimicking human brainpower. And AI can’t survive, can’t thrive without enormous amounts of electrical energy. Wall Street has the answer and politicians agree that nuclear is the big, beautiful answer to a whole new advanced level of human mental experience with electrons. The nuclear narrative is more positive than ever, “go for it,” but what if something goes wrong or is nuclear suddenly risks-free?

This summer, there were days in tropical cities when it was unbearable to walk out in the sunlight. In Mango, Togo, for instance, the temperature soared to 44°C in March and April. Heat maps depict a world on fire, red hot flames licking the planet from the equator outwards. If the air temperature is around 44°C, then the temperature of asphalt and concrete surfaces can exceed 60°C. Since second-degree burns occur in less than five seconds at 60°C, those exposed to that heat are liable to burn their skin. Walking the streets of these burning cities is hard enough with shoes – imagine what it must be like for the millions of people who lack appropriate footwear but must work outdoors during the hottest parts of the day.

The zionist ethnostate’s recent pause in hostilities against the people of Gaza due to so-called Phase 1 of President Trump’s 20 Point Gaza Peace Plan has resulted in a collective sigh of relief for many the world over, who have observed and/or have been victims of the ongoing genocidal onslaught that’s pillaged an estimated 70,000 lives, including approximately 20,000 women and children, included the use of starvation as a weapon, and has reduced the Gaza Strip to rubble as critical infrastructure including homes, schools/universities, hospitals and places of worship have all been decimated by the Israel Occupying Force’s (IOF) war machine that has been aided, abetted, and funded by the United States and other Western governments.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s words earlier this month were a clear declaration that the relatively calm waters of the Eastern Mediterranean have become the front line in a wider geopolitical conflict.
The threat that “Turkiye will strike first” was not only directed at Greece, Cyprus, or Israel, but at the new security architecture forming on the edge of the west, what can be called the “Mediterranean Arc.” This tripartite strategic partnership has evolved beyond a regional coalition countering Ankara’s ambitions. It now forms a critical node in a broader geopolitical constellation known as the Indo-Mediterranean Rim – the central stage of intensifying competition between the US and China across Eurasia and beyond.

The head of US Southern Command, the military commander overseeing US escalations in the Caribbean and the push toward an attempt at regime change in Venezuela, is stepping down, the Pentagon announced on Thursday.
According to a statement from SOUTHCOM Commander Adm. Alvin Holsey, who served in the position for less than a year, he will be retiring on December 12, 2025, ending a 37-year military career.
No reason was given for his resignation, but according to The New York Times, he had raised concerns about the US military mission in the Caribbean, which has involved a significant buildup of forces and the bombing of five boats that the Trump administration has claimed, without providing evidence, were carrying drugs.

When the Supreme Court recently allowed immigration agents in the Los Angeles area to take race into consideration during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned.
“If the officers learn that the individual they stopped is a U.S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States,” Kavanaugh wrote, “they promptly let the individual go.”
But that is far from the reality many citizens have experienced. Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents. They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

The level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rose by the largest amount ever recorded in 2024, the UN has reported, as researchers warn of the dangers of feedback loops that are pushing the climate crisis to new heights and many global powers do nothing to mitigate emissions.
According to the latest bulletin by the UN’s World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the global average concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increased by 3.5 parts per million between 2023 and 2024. This is the highest single-year increase since modern records began in 1957.
