In 2023, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr brought RICO charges against 61 opponents of the “Cop City” training facility, alleging the protest movement was akin to an organized crime syndicate. Under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, prosecutors need merely to show the existence of a criminal enterprise under which any member is liable to be charged as an accessory to the group’s overall crimes.
Charlie Kirk’s Racist/Xenophobic Rants Are Not Protected Speech

Political flamethrower Charlie Kirk was shot dead on September 10, 2025, while speaking at a political event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Authorities have arrested Utah resident Tyler James Robinson, 22. He allegedly confessed to the shooting to a family member.
Kirk’s shooting has triggered a national discussion about the political significance and/or impact that it will have moving forward. There are two basic elements of analysis of this event for me: the human element and the political.
From the human perspective, very simply put, this was first degree murder. It was the unlawful and intentional killing of a human being by another human being with malice and aforethought. Murder is wrong.

Qatar hosted on 15 September an emergency Arab-Islamic summit aimed at rejecting Israel’s recent attack on Doha, which targeted Hamas leaders as they were meeting to discuss a US ceasefire proposal for Gaza.
The summit consisted of members of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was among several regional leaders who attended the meeting on Monday.
“The capital of my country was subjected to a treacherous attack targeting a residence housing families of Hamas leaders and its negotiating delegation,” Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said while addressing the summit.
Al-Thani said the “terrorist attack” was “cowardly” and “despicable,” adding that Israel’s plans to “impose new realities” on the Arabs were “dangerous,” stressing that these plans “will not pass.”

It is difficult to overstate the insanity of the ruling elites of the collective West. They have shown themselves incapable of recognizing they can no longer continue to dominate as before the governments of the majority world. For the moment, they continue acting to impose regimes that are easier to manipulate in countries susceptible to destabilization such as, in recent years, Bangladesh and now Nepal. However, in order to overthrow governments or political movements steadfast in defending the sovereignty of their countries, Western governments have had to resort to military aggression supported by regional allies and vassals, as they did successfully most recently in Syria.
Why Railroad Workers Are Fighting The Proposed UP-NS Merger

In the coming year or so, the Surface Transportation Board will determine whether to approve or block Union Pacific’s $85-billion acquisition of Norfolk Southern. This signals an attempt by Wall Street to squeeze yet more from this critical infrastructure in order to maximize returns for shareholders.
In 2023, Surface Transportation Board (STB) member Robert Primus was the sole board member to vote against the merger of Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern to form Canadian Pacific Kansas City. President Trump’s recent illegal firing of board member Primus further weakens the STB and corrupts its adjudicatory mandate. The absence of a key critical voice from the Board raises the pressure on concerned workers, shippers, competing railroads, and the public to make their voices heard. Unless Primus is reinstated, the approval of this Wall Street railroad merger is a near done deal.

Continuing the purge of Syria’s Alawite minority that began with large scale massacres back in March, Interior Ministry security forces have almost entirely depopulated the metro Damascus neighborhood of al-Somaria, which was up until the raids, an Alawite majority area.
The raids began in late August, with security forces led by an Interior Ministry commander known as Abu Hudhayfah entering al-Somaria with guns and eviction orders. They went door to door and informed Alawite locals that they were living there illegally and demanded they prove otherwise. Those who couldn’t immediately document the ownership had their homes spray-painted with O’s, meaning they had to leave within 48 hours.
The Doha Assassination Plot, Emergency Summit, And Trump’s Double-Cross

Last week’s failed assassination attempt of the Palestinian negotiating team in Doha, Qatar, raises critical questions that extend far beyond the attack itself. The crux of the problem lies in three interconnected issues: the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in targeting individuals, the failure, or deliberate negligence, of the US-led air defense system, and Qatar’s vulnerable position as a host to both a major US base and the ceasefire negotiations.
The use of AI will be the topic of a future analysis. Meanwhile, the raid on Qatar did not happen in isolation. The skies over Doha are monitored by the American Air Base in Al Udeid, the largest US military installation in the Middle East. This base is not a marginal outpost; it is the forward headquarters for US Central Command, USCENTCOM, overseeing US military operations throughout the Middle East.

President Donald Trump announced during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” that he is planning to send military troops to Memphis, Tennessee.
During his appearance on September 12, Trump said his administration would deploy the National Guard “and anybody else we need” to the Tennessee city. Trump did not provide a timeline for the deployment.
“By the way, we’ll bring in the military too if we need it,” he added.
Trump said Memphis is “deeply troubled.”
“We’re going to fix that, just like we did in Washington,” he said.
The Memphis Shelby Crime Commission shows that crime in Memphis, including violent crime, has decreased since last year. Violent crime from January to June is down more than 17 percent this year compared with the same period in 2024.
Crypto Companies Are Eyeing Credit Unions

I've written a couple of blog posts in the past about crypto currency and why I think co-ops need to stay far away from everything to do with them. I now realize, however, that I was somewhat misguided - not in sounding an alarm about the crypto hype, but in the audience that I was directing my warnings to. I was focused on worker co-ops, where I was happy to not see any real uptake. However, I failed to realized that the most obvious place for crypto to infiltrate the co-op sphere was not in worker co-ops, but in credit unions. In retrospect, this was a huge oversight on my part. Of course the funny money people would be going after our financial institutions - and it appears they've managed to hook their first big fish in the CU space.

There is nothing more bipartisan in the United States than a racialized crime panic. Neither Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, nor Donald Trump makes a direct reference to Black people in their screeds. But their policies were and are directed at Black people. Which group is arrested more often than any other in this country? Who is most likely to be incarcerated? Whose neighborhoods are over policed? Who do the police kill most often? It is reasonable to say that Black people are the targets of this hate speech which comes from democrats and republicans alike. Even worse, the Black misleadership class gives cover to this incitement of fear and loathing against their people.

The crisis in Nepal escalated in early September, bringing down the center-right government of Prime Minister KP Oli. The immediate spur was the regulation and banning of social media on September 4. Protests over this action were met by police firing, which resulted in the killing of 19 protestors. This escalated into major manifestations, leading to attacks on the homes of politicians and the national parliament building as well as the presidential building.
Several narratives are circulating about the current upheaval, but two dominate.

Venezuela reported that a US destroyer illegally boarded a Venezuelan fishing boat carrying nine fishermen and detained them for eight hours. According to the Venezuelan statement, issued on Saturday, September 13, the vessel was in Venezuelan waters, “48 nautical miles from Blanquilla Island.”
The incident occurred on Friday, September 12, in Venezuela’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Under international law, an EEZ is a maritime area adjacent to a country’s territorial sea, extending up to 200 nautical miles from the baseline. The coastal state has sovereign rights to explore, utilize and preserve natural resources there, and has jurisdiction over economic and research activities in the region.

Since dawn on Sunday, Israeli occupation forces have killed 31 Palestinians, including aid workers, in a series of airstrikes and ground assaults across the Gaza Strip.
Local officials said that at least 50,000 people were made homeless following Israeli evacuation orders that forced residents to flee south along Rashid Al-Bahri Street.
The attacks come as Israel presses ahead with its nearly two-year genocidal war on Gaza, marked by attempts to reoccupy Gaza City and forcibly displace its residents.
Hospitals across the Strip reported dozens of casualties. Al-Quds Hospital confirmed seven people were killed in strikes on the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood in southern Gaza City, while 20 others were wounded by Israeli fire on Street 8. Emergency services reported four deaths in a strike on a displacement tent at Palestine Stadium, west of Gaza City.

Even though President Donald Trump says he is pivoting from plans to deploy the National Guard in Chicago — now eyeing Memphis as his next target — Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers appear to still be escalating operations throughout the area, with devastating consequences.
Willian Gimenez, a day laborer, was reportedly abducted outside of a barbershop in Little Village, a neighborhood in southwest Chicago, by ICE agents on Friday. The Latino Union of Chicago and Raise the Floor Alliance organized a news conference with immigration rights advocates, public officials and labor groups there in solidarity like Arise Chicago, the Chicago Workers Collaborative and Workers Center for Racial Justice, who all gathered with Gimenez’s friends and family outside of an ICE facility in Broadview to demand his release.
