Iran Hits Multiple Israeli Bases In Massive Missile Barrage

Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel late on 1 October in a massive retaliatory attack that officials in Tehran say achieved direct hits on multiple military bases across the country. “We targeted three military bases: Nevatim, which houses F-35 aircraft, Netzarim, which houses F-15 jets used in the assassination of [Hezbollah leader] Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Tel Nof base near Tel Aviv with Fattah ballistic missiles,” the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced following the launch of as many as 400 missiles, including its first-ever use of the Fattah hypersonic ballistic missile.

Iranian Response Has Begun: Sirens Sounded All Over ‘Israel’

Sirens have sounded all over occupied Palestine as Iranian media announced Tuesday that the Iranian response to Israeli aggression had started. Numerous missiles have reportedly made an impact as the attack continues to unfold, with reports indicating that over 400 missiles and projectiles had been launched from Iran toward the occupied Palestinian territories. The IRGC released a statement following the launch of the response, saying "We have targeted the heart of the occupied territories in response to the assassination of martyrs Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Nilforooshian." The statement further said, warning "Israel", "If the Zionist regime retaliates to the Iranian operation, it will face violent consequences."

US Bolsters Forces In Middle East, Issues Warning To Iran

The Pentagon on Sunday announced steps to bolster its forces in the Middle East amid Israel’s non-stop bombardment of Lebanon. Pentagon spokesman Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said the US will reinforce its “air-support capabilities” in the coming days and said Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin “increased the readiness of additional US forces to deploy, elevating our preparedness to respond to various contingencies.” Ryder said Austin also ordered the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its strike group to stay in the region. The USS Wasp Amphibious Ready Group / Marine Expeditionary Unit will also continue to operate in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Report From Meeting With New Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian

The Grayzone’s Max Blumenthal and Anya Parampil were among a select group of media organizations invited to a meeting with Iran’s recently-inaugurated president, Masoud Pezeshkian, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City. The question-and-answer roundtable offered an intimate look at the strategic thinking behind the president’s visit, which featured dozens of meetings with foreign diplomats and influential members of Iran’s US-based diaspora. Participants in the meeting included Beltway press fixtures Andrea Mitchell, Lester Holt, and an array of correspondents from mainstream outlets like Sky News, the New Yorker, and PBS.

New York Times Repeats Government’s Evidence-Free Claim That Gaza Protests Are Part Of Iranian Plot

On September 4, the New York Times did something it has a long and sordid history of doing: laundering extremely loaded and consequential “U.S. intelligence” claims without providing an ounce of skepticism — or evidence. The report, headlined “Iran Emerges as a Top Disinformation Threat in U.S. Presidential Race,” begins with fairly boilerplate hand wringing about foreign influence operations, followed by authors Steven Lee Myers,Tiffany Hsu and Farnaz Fassihi casually tossing out a government claim that, by implication, has the effect of smearing hundreds of thousands of student protesters

Ajamu Baraka On Global Conflicts And Social Transformation

In addition to risking a nuclear war with Russia, the United States is stoking greater conflicts in West Asia and China. Ajamu Baraka speaks with Clearing the FOG about his recent tour in Iran where he spoke to a cross-section of people about their concerns and the need for greater international solidarity. Baraka also discusses the responsibility of people, particularly in the collective West, to organize in order to change course away from militarism. He provides an analysis of the upcoming presidential election, the verdict in the case of the Uhuru 3 and why people must avoid aligning themselves with the ruling class, which will stop at nothing to hang onto power.

Documents Reveal US Intel Cutout’s Iranian Counter-Revolution Plans

Leaked documents and emails obtained by The Grayzone reveal a seemingly covert effort by American regime change operatives to impose radical leadership on the remnants of Iran’s protest movement against the mandatory hijab, in order to topple the government of Iran. The initiative was spearheaded by Carl Gershman, the longtime director of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a US government-funded non-profit which advances regime change operations across the globe. Originally conceived by the Reagan administration’s CIA, the NED has meddled in elections and sponsored coup leaders from Nicaragua to Venezuela to Hong Kong, and beyond.

Scott Ritter: Israel’s Collapse Is Imminent Amid Escalation In Lebanon

It sometimes feels like the world is on the brink of war. Israel has just escalated the conflict in the Middle East with a massive attack on Lebanon, implanting bombs in hundreds of pagers and other electronic devices, killing many and injuring thousands. Around the world, the action has been condemned as an act of terror. Today’s guest, Scott Ritter, unequivocally denounced the move. “This is something that is unjustifiable under any circumstances. There is no element of the law of war that would allow this kind of indiscriminate attack,” he said. Ritter is a former United States Corps Intelligence Officer and UN Weapons Inspector in Iraq.

Iran’s Crucial Decision On Israel

Iran faces probably its most difficult decision since its 1979 victory in the Iranian Revolution. Israel has launched strikes deep into the heart of Tehran and Beirut’s southern suburbs, significantly strengthening its strategic position. [On Tuesday, Israel Was Accused By U.S. Officials Of Planting Explosives In Pagers Made In Hungary, Which Were Sold To Lebanon And Then Remotely Detonating Them, Killing 12 People And Injuring More Than 2,700. Hezbollah Vowed Revenge On Israel.] Before the pager terrorist attack, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah conceded that the two earlier strikes on Iran and Lebanon were an Israeli achievement, a rare concession from any Arab leader.

Pentagon Renovates Israeli Air Base

The US Department of Defense is building aircraft facilities in Israel to accommodate new US-made KC-46A Pegasus refueling tanker planes that could assist in an attack on Iran, The Intercept reported on 14 September. Army Corps of Engineers documents show new buildings will be constructed and existing buildings will be upgraded, including hangars, warehouses, and storage facilities, at a military base in the south of Israel.  The project includes “establishing and adapting aviation and maintenance infrastructure for the KC-46,” including the construction of five new concrete and steel structures, the documents show.

Trump Threatens To Punish De-Dollarization

Countries across the planet are seeking alternatives to the US-dominated financial system. However, former President Donald Trump has pledged that, if he returns to the White House, he will punish nations that de-dollarize. “We will keep the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency”, Trump promised at a campaign rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin on September 7, 2024. “It is currently under major siege. Many countries are leaving the dollar”, the Republican presidential candidate lamented. “They’re not going to leave the dollar with me”, Trump insisted. “I’ll say, ‘You leave the dollar, you’re not doing business with the United States, because we’re going to put 100% tariff on your goods'”.

Iranian President Vows To Neutralize West’s Sanctions

Iran’s newly elected president, Masoud Pezeshkian, announced that his government will prioritize neutralizing the impact of all illegal sanctions imposed on the country. The announcement was made during the inaugural ceremony of the country’s new foreign minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, on Tuesday, August 27. The president said he believes that the best way to mitigate the impact of sanctions is to develop strong ties with neighboring countries. “Connections and development of relations [with neighbors] make sanctions ineffective,” he was quoted as saying by the Islamic Student News Agency (ISNA).

The Other Occupation: US Forces In Syria

The strategic placement of US military bases in northeastern Syria is no coincidence. Extending from the Syrian–Jordanian–Iraqi border in the southwest of the country, to areas west of the Euphrates in the northeast, are 28 US installations – 24 of them US military bases. This deployment, carefully planned out with specific geostrategic objectives, is there only to serve Washington’s local, regional, and international interests. According to US data, the number of American occupation soldiers in Syria increased dramatically from 50 troops in 2015 to over 2,000 by the end of 2017. Reports in April 2017 even suggested that then-national security adviser Brigadier General HR McMaster considered deploying up to 50,000 troops to Iraq and Syria.

US To Iran: Only Israel May Escalate

In an article titled “U.S. Warns Iran of ‘Serious Risk’ if It Conducts Major Attack on Israel,” The Wall Street Journal reports that officials within the Biden administration have been warning Iran not to “escalate” against Israel in its planned retaliatory strikes for the assassination of a Hamas leader in Tehran. “The United States has sent clear messaging to Iran that the risk of a major escalation if they do a significant retaliatory attack against Israel is extremely high,” an anonymous U.S. official told The Wall Street Journal, adding that “there is a serious risk of consequences for Iran’s economy and the stability of its newly elected government if it goes down that path.”

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 311: Condemnations Of Israel’s Massacre

The death toll from Israel’s bombing of the Tabi’in school in the Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City surpassed 100 victims according to the Palestinian health ministry. The bombing targeted two floors in the school, one of which was being used as a mosque, where civilians were holding the dawn (Fajr) prayer at the moment of the strike. The Palestinian Civil Defense said that Israeli bombs killed and maimed everyone who was present on the mosque floor, describing the massacre as “beyond imagination” and comparable to the massacre at the Al-Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza City in December of last year, which killed 500 Palestinians.
