The repression of people who show support for Palestinian liberation has escalated. The Trump administration is using an antiquated immigration law and executive orders to target student activists, threatening them with deportation, and has gone so far as to kidnap students and professors. Clearing the FOG speaks with a Cornell University PhD student, Sriram Parasurama, who was suspended for participating in pro-Palestine demonstrations and is currently a plaintiff in a case challenging two of President Trump's executive orders and with Chip Gibbons, a lawyer with Defending Rights and Dissent and the author of an upcoming book on the FBI, surveillance and the national security state. Both explain the urgency of fighting violations of our Constitutional rights and how to do that, as well as the implications of not taking action.

China is probably one of few states which flipped its diplomatic stance on the “Palestinian-Israeli conflict” in the most dramatic manner from the 1950s to 1970s. In only 20 years, the People’s Republic of China (PRC)’s official foreign policy dramatically changed from almost establishing diplomatic relations with Israel in 1950 to denying any legitimacy of the Israeli state in the 1960s to 1970s. As I aim to demonstrate in this article, the Maoist era, especially from 1955 to 1976, established the foundation of China’s diplomatic support for the Palestinian liberation movement, and this legacy is still one of the main factors guiding China’s official stance on Palestine today.

A senior Hamas official said late on 29 March that the resistance movement has accepted a new Egyptian proposal to resume the truce in the Gaza Strip, coming as Israel has rejected Cairo’s plan and put forward its own counteroffer. “Hamas recently received a new proposal from the Qatari and Egyptian mediators and responded positively. The movement emphasized it is not seeking new demands, only the implementation of what was already signed and guaranteed,” said the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Hayya, during a speech on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Jacksonville SDS Rallies Against Israeli Soldiers On Campus

Jacksonville, FL – On March 27, Jacksonville Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) rallied dozens of students to protest a speaking event which brought two Israeli occupation forces (IOF) troops to the University of North Florida. The soldiers were on campus to justify their war crimes in Gaza during the first wave of the accelerated genocide. The Jacksonville Palestine Solidarity Network (JPSN) co-sponsored the protest, and several other student and community organizations were in attendance. The rally took place outside the UNF Student Union, where the speaking event was being held.

Millions Rally In Yemen To Mark Quds Day In Defiance Of US-Led War

Millions of Yemenis took to the streets of the capital Sanaa and other areas of the country on 28 March to commemorate International Quds Day, which falls annually on the last Friday of every Ramadan. The mass rallies came one day after over a dozen violent US airstrikes struck the Yemeni capital. “We will continue to stand against the Zionist enemy and the American enemy in confronting their aggression against Gaza and Yemen. The Yemeni people's commemoration of Quds Day is evidence of the sincerity of their religious affiliation, their actual adherence to sanctities, and their high willingness to sacrifice,” Yemeni protest movements said in a joint statement from the capital’s Al-Sabeen Square during the rallies on Friday.

Emboldened by an ultra-right wing and extremely pro-Zionist administration in the US, Israel has resumed its genocidal bombardment of Gaza. Meanwhile, in the United States, Trump and his immigration authorities are rounding up and detaining student organizers for standing in solidarity with Palestine. Student activists such as Mahmoud Khalil and Rumeysa Ozturk have been violently abducted by ICE in front of their families and communities for registering their peaceful opposition to genocide. Rather than having a chilling effect on the movement for Palestine, however, these ICE kidnappings have actually had the opposite impact: more have taken to the streets in support of Palestine than ever since Trump’s election.

It was never about eliminating antisemitism. It was always about silencing Palestine. That is what the gagging of protesting students, and now the gagging of faculty, was always meant to lead to. While partisans of the Israeli-American mass slaughter in Gaza may have been offended by their protests, large numbers of the students whose rights of free speech have been infringed upon via draconian punishments were themselves Jewish. Many of those faculty members who are about to be deprived of academic freedom and faculty governance, and perhaps fired, are themselves Jewish, indeed some are Israelis.

Trump Launches ‘October 7 Joint Task Force’; War On Palestine Protesters

Last week the Trump administration announced the formation of a joint task force that it said is meant to hold Hamas leaders accountable for the October 7 attack. But many fear it will be yet another weapon the administration will use to target activists within the United States. The Joint Task Force October 7 (JTF 10-7) will “investigate acts of terrorism and civil rights violations by individuals and entities providing support and financing to Hamas, related Iran proxies, and their affiliates” which is similar to work that began under the Biden administration. The new task force however is also targeting “acts of antisemitism by these groups,” which the administration has indicated refers to campus activism for Palestine.

Swarthmore Students Punished For Gaza Protests

Swarthmore College issued sanctions on March 6 against 15 students for participating in anti-genocide activism for Palestinians in Gaza. Their peaceful demonstrations of solidarity with Gaza occurred between October 2023 and March 2024. The college in Media, Pennsylvania, is located outside of Philadelphia. The most extreme sanctions are aimed against one graduating senior who was suspended, nine who received one-semester probation and one who received a two-semester probation. The second-semester senior set to graduate was suspended on the charge of “assault” for the use of a megaphone indoors.

The Far-Right Hate Group Helping Trump Deport Israel’s Critics

A far-right, pro-Israel group with a history of support for terror and genocide is working closely with the Trump administration, preparing dossiers on thousands of pro-Palestine figures it wants deported from the United States. Betar U.S. is known to have had several meetings with senior government officials and has claimed credit for the arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a leader of the nationwide anti-genocide student demonstrations that began at Columbia University last year. Ross Glick, the group’s executive director until last month, noted that he met with a diverse set of influential lawmakers, including Democratic senator John Fetterman and aides to the Republican senators Ted Cruz and James Lankford.

United Kingdom’s Secret Meeting With Top Israeli Arms Firm

Keir Starmer’s government held a private meeting with Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons company, Declassified has found. The meeting occurred in December 2024 and was attended by three representatives from Elbit Systems and three officials from Yvette Cooper’s Home Office. It took place months after Israeli forces used an Elbit drone to kill three British military veterans in Gaza who were protecting a humanitarian aid convoy. The revelation comes in documents obtained by Declassified through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the Home Office, which refused to detail which officials were present or what was discussed.

On March 19, 2025, Momodou Taal was supposed to walk into a federal courtroom for the first hearing of his lawsuit against the Trump administration and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The landmark case would put a temporary hold on the rampant deportations we’ve seen in the last month of foreign students who have spoken out in support of Palestinians against U.S.-funded Israeli genocide. However a day before the case was supposed to begin in court, DHS issued a deportation order for Taal. The deportation order, which appeared to come in direct retaliation for his outspoken support for Palestine and his participation in campus protests, escalated his case to a critical level while garnering national attention.

Oscar-Winning Palestinian Filmmaker ‘Lynched’ By Israeli Settlers

Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal, co-director of the Academy Award-winning documentary film ‘No Other Land,’ was beaten and injured by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank on 24 March before being arrested by Israeli security forces. “A group of settlers just lynched Hamdan Ballal … They beat him, and he has injuries in his head and stomach, bleeding. Soldiers invaded the ambulance he called and took him. No sign of him since,” Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham announced via social media. Dozens of extremist Jewish settlers descended on the Palestinian village of Susiya in the Masafer Yatta area of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank on Monday night, destroying property and attacking civilians, according to the activist group Center for Jewish Nonviolence.

The philosophical belief that certain rights are inherent and inalienable by virtue of human existence becomes harsh reality when they are denied. This is especially salient for the people of Palestine, who have had to struggle for their inalienable rights for more than a hundred years. The violation of their human rights really began on Friday, Nov. 2, 1917, when British foreign secretary and Christian Zionist, Arthur James Balfour, put his signature to a letter addressed to British Jewish banker, Lionel W. Rothschild, promising the land of Palestine to the Zionist Federation in Europe. With that, the ongoing catastrophe began.
