Iran, Saudi Arabia In Talks For Joint Naval Drills

The Iranian and Saudi navies are planning to hold a joint exercise in the Red Sea region, Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Shahram Irani announced on 22 October. ISNA news agency quoted Irani as saying that the Iranian naval forces are present in the Red Sea and that Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in organizing joint maneuvers in the region. The admiral stressed that the delegations from both countries would hold consultations on organizing the maneuver, adding that they had extended mutual invitations to visit each other's ports. Iran and Saudi Arabia normalized relations in March 2023 following a six-year rupture through talks brokered by China.

Iran’s Bomb Is Real And It’s Here

The outbreak of conflict between Iran and Israel appears to have changed Iran’s stance against possessing a nuclear weapon as Israel is poised to strike after Teheran’s retaliation with two major attacks of drones and ballistic and cruise missiles. Iran has issued at least three statements through official channels since April that has opened the door to the possibility of religious edicts against Iran acquiring nuclear weapons being rescinded. The circumstances which Iran has said must exist to justify this reversal appear to have now been met.

War With Iran More Concerning Than A National Security Leak

President Joe Biden’s administration has deployed at least 100 United States troops to Israel, along with an anti-ballistic missile defense system, to help the Israeli government as it pursues an attack on Iran. When the Israeli military strikes targets in Iran, the U.S. will become a party to the armed conflict between Israel and Iran. "To introduce troops into hostilities, per the 1973 War Powers Act, you either need an authorization from Congress, or there needs to be some urgent and imminent self-defense threat," said former U.S. Army major Harrison Mann, who resigned in protest over Israel's war on Gaza.

Resetting BRICS For The South Slavs, New Europe And The World

On October 22, in the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, located less than five hours along the M-12 “Vostok” highway from Moscow, the 16th Kazan BRICS summit opens – an association of 10 countries of a new geopolitical format, ahead of all the slow-moving Western alliances that has fallen into recession or stagnation. Already, Kazan is fully ready to host the leaders of more than 33 countries participating in the BRICS summit in a year when Russia is the chairman of the association of leaders of the multipolar world. The Moscow Kremlin noted that Kazan is fully prepared to host more than 20,000 guests and the summit organizers took into account the interests of more than 30 countries planning to receive an invitation to BRICS or become partner states of this association in the near future.

Between Russia And Iran All’s Well That Ends Well

The mystery about the hastily-arranged “working meeting” between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, has only deepened after the event. This was their first-ever meeting. Putin didn’t even have the post-event presser. Why such a meeting last Friday was considered necessary becomes an intriguing thought, as the two leaders are to meet in Kazan, Russia, within days on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit on Oct. 22-24. Russia and Iran have had a difficult relationship through centuries.

Pentagon Confirms US Troops To Operate THAAD Missile Defense In Israel

The US military will send a missile defense battery and troops to operate it in Israel, the Pentagon said on 13 October, amid warnings from Iran that Washington should keep all US military forces out of Israel. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin authorized the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery at the direction of President Joe Biden, the Pentagon said in a statement. The US is seeking to help bolster Israel’s air defenses following a large-scale Iranian ballistic missile attack on Israeli airbases on 1 October. Tehran launched the ballistic missile barrage in retaliation for multiple aggressions carried out by Tel Aviv, including the assassinations of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in July and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on 27 September.

Could Palestine Be The Catalyst For An Islamic Renaissance?

Of all the countless analyses across the lands of Islam about the profound significance of fateful Al-Toofan (Al-Aqsa Flood) on October 7, 2023, this one stands out: a cycle of conferences in Istanbul earlier this week, including October 7, titled Palestine: the Lynchpin of Civilizational Renaissance, linked to the Kuala Lumpur Forum for Thought and Civilization. Call it a Malaysia-Turkiye partnership: Southeast Asia meets West Asia, a graphic illustration of the multi-nodal world that will be congregating in less than two weeks in Kazan, capital of Muslim Russia, for the long -awaited BRICS summit under the Russian presidency.

Arab States Are Coming Together To Prevent A Regional War

In a welcome, but under-reported, development last week, Arab states from the Gulf Cooperation Council reportedly “sought to reassure Iran of their neutrality” in the brewing conflict between Iran and Israel. The stance was expressed by Arab ministers to their Iranian counterparts at a meeting last week in Doha. It was not a formal, public declaration, but rather a commitment expressed in the meetings directly. Initially, reports—particularly the main one from Reuters on which much of the other reporting was based—also said that the Gulf states had explicitly stated that they would forbid the United States from using their airbases to attack Iran, although more recent and updated reports have mysteriously omitted this point.

A US-Iran War: What The Battlefield Could Actually Look Like

While U.S. Congress showed strong support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements on Iran in July, the media has largely shied away from coverage of what potential American involvement in an Israeli-Iranian conflict could look like. As a result, the public remains largely unaware of the potential consequences and the specific role the U.S. might play in such a scenario. In 2002, the U.S. military conducted the “Millennium Challenge” simulations, costing approximately $250 million. These exercises revealed that the American military would likely face failure in an all-out war with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Israel Charged American Journalist With ‘Aiding The Enemy’

The Israeli government arrested, detained, and charged American journalist Jeremy Loffredo with “aiding the enemy during wartime and providing information to the enemy.” According to Israeli news site Ynet, Loffredo was arrested by security forces on “suspicion of endangering national security after reporting on where missiles landed in the attack launched by Iran earlier this month including in the [Israeli military’s] Nevatim Air Base and an intelligence base in central Israel.” Loffredo appeared in an Israeli Magistrate's Court on October 10 after being detained for nearly a day and a half. He was taken to an Israeli military base along with at least four other journalists, who were later released.

They Now Know What Real Bombing Means

On 1 October, US Representative Michael McCaul, the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee issued a statement urging US President Joe Biden to ‘place maximum pressure on Iran and its proxies, rather than pressure Israel for a ceasefire. We need to expedite arms transfers to Israel that this administration has delayed for months, including 2,000-pound bombs, to ensure Israel has all the tools to deter these threats’. McCaul’s belligerent call came days after Israel used over eighty US-made 2,000-pound bombs and other munitions on 27 September, to strike a residential neighbourhood in Beirut and kill – amongst hundreds of civilians – Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah (1960–2024), the leader of Hezbollah.

October 7th, The Election And Capitalist Crisis

So here we are in a very unusual situation where we are on the verge of a presidential election in just a few weeks and both candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, pledge loyalty to Israel. Their only argument is who is more supportive of Israel. President Biden seems to be absent. We don't really know how involved he is, what role he's playing in these events, but one thing is certain, that Israel feels emboldened to do whatever it wants to do as we are one year from the Operation Al Aqsa Flood of October 7, 2023. So there's a lot going on. What are your overall observations about this moment?

Washington Keeps Silent After Israel Arrests US Journalist

The US government has yet to comment on the case of Jeremy Loffredo, an independent US journalist who remains in Israeli police detention on suspicion of “endangering national security.” Loffredo may potentially face life imprisonment or the death penalty after reporting the locations where Iranian missiles struck in the attack launched by Iran earlier this month. US officials refrained from commment despite a Yedioth Ahronoth report from Thursday stating that representatives from the US Embassy attended the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for a hearing on the request of the police to extend his detention. In his report, Loffredo stated that the strikes hit targets, including the Israeli military's Nevatim Air Base and an intelligence base in central Israel.

Israel To Strike; Iran Not An Existential Threat To The West

Iran is overwhelmingly portrayed by the collective West as an existential threat to the survival of Israel and, to a lesser extent, to U.S. national security interests. The issue with this narrative lies in how the Iranian government is depicted. On one hand, it’s presented as weak and constantly on the brink of collapse. On the other, it’s seen as powerful enough to control an “axis of terror” capable of destroying Israel and U.S. military and economic interests in the region. This inherent contradiction has persisted since the 1979 revolution and the establishment of the Islamic Republic. This faulty logic of imminent collapse has been employed by U.S. policymakers for decades.

Biden Officials Say Ceasefire Talks Are Suspended

Biden officials have reportedly admitted that ceasefire negotiations amid Israel’s war on Lebanon and genocide in Gaza have been suspended, despite public insistence by high-powered figures within the administration that they are working around the clock for a ceasefire. The Biden administration has given up on ceasefire talks after first proposing a deal for a 21-day ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel just two weeks ago, CNN reports, citing U.S. officials. The U.S. is “not actively trying to revive the deal,” the outlet wrote.
